Off Topic / Re: Most Recent Childhood Shows You've Revisited?

David the Gnome. It's so sedate she'll probably hate it, but I've found a surprising number of people that remembered the show and could still sing the theme song! What else? Um I remember loving Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Gummi Bears, Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake, TMNT, Batman: The Animated Series, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab...

I'm starting to think I did nothing but watch cartoons as a kid.

I'm glad to hear you're willing to hire a designer! You'll love the results. :D It'd probably be easier if you found someone who's done ebooks before too. Every website seems to have their own cover size so it can get confusing unless you only plan to sell on Amazon or only on iTunes, etc. Also, you really need to have someone who can make an image look compelling even when it's shrunk down to thumbnail size and that's where experience with ebooks comes in handy. And be aware that you're likely going to have the additional cost of stock photo purchases. Prices vary a lot on those so just ask your designer for an estimate before you begin.

I just remembered something that reminded me of your embarrassment of certain scenes! I was at a show and the singer for the opening act was talking about how she's constantly on the road and can't justify renting or buying a place to live. She said she just stays with her parents when she's back "home." One day she was practicing a song and after it was done, her mom walked in and said, "is this song about adult relations?"

Self-publishing will mean I will be limited on who I can reach.

This is becoming less true every day! Even the big New York publishing houses are paying attention to self-published authors. I do some freelance graphic design work and I've made several ebook covers, including some for romance. What I've learned from those writers is that people really do judge books by their cover. If you're dead set on self-publishing, HIRE A DESIGNER for the cover. Do NOT skimp on this part. You'll end up with a kid in school who makes awful clip art covers if you do and sad to say, but people will look at a subpar cover and assume your story is subpar as well.

For Sale - For Auction / For Sale: G3/G4 Ponies
« on: August 24, 2014, 12:07:06 PM »
I priced these out a couple weeks ago using the last sold amount on ebay. Since I know how prices can fluctuate, everything is negotiable.

 If you need a picture of anything, just ask! I'm also open to trades!

Shipping from USA. Domestic shipping is $3. Add $1 extra if you'd like tracking. If you're buying several, I'll get a price from the post office before sending you the total. I'm willing to ship anywhere in the world as long as you're okay with the additional cost.

:newpony: PONIES
G3 Sparkleworks III (needs a bit of cleaning but is in good shape otherwise) - $4
G3 Star Dasher (tiny scratch on belly)- $4
G3 Summer Shores (Target exclusive, very good condition) - $7
G3 Summer Sweety (very good condition) -$5
G3 Sunny Daze II (has some light pink highlighter marks on NDS, could probably be sunned out)- $3

G4 Trixie (MIB Wedding) - $25
G4 Lyra (MIB Wedding) - $25

Thank you everyone for the nice comments! There are a couple tweaks I'd like to make to the pattern before I start offering them for sale. But I'll let anyone who's interested know when that happens. :)

not sure what part of mn you're in, but we should get together and have a mini plush making party at a perkins or something to start.
that would be so fun!!
exchange tips and well chat!
That'd be fun! I live in the western suburbs so I'm really close to Minneapolis.

Hello! I recently made my first plush toy. I found a pattern for an antique/vintage style horse toy. I thought it'd look adorable as an MLP and gave it a try. I really wanted to play up the handmade aspect of it so I used button eyes, yarn hair, and hand embroidered the cutie mark.

Sorry about all the other toys hanging around in the background.  :silly:

Question Time! I really enjoyed making her and I'd like to make more, but I've only got about 2 people in my life that would appreciate a plush pony. I know this is a very unusual style for MLP plush, but do you think I'd be able to sell plush like these? And if so, what kind of price range would be reasonable?

well, technically I don't have a horse... i lease...

OK, I admit that I laughed a little too because OMG....

That said, not sure how long I'll be able to stay with that amount of allergens but the doc has me on better medication now so this will be a good test at least! lol And thank you for in advance for cleaning! It'll help me breathe so much better!

Edit: Also I hate how picky I sound, but I thought I should add that horse hair is the worst for me. Like, break out in rashes within minutes kind of bad. In small amounts, I should be able to handle it better though. :)

I'm going to post some pictures today of my living room and other set-up space so everyone has a better idea of where we will be! And how much space we'll have etc.

Oh, I guess I should ask if you have any pets? I'm insanely allergic to horses and cats.

Edit: I'm allergic to a bunch of other things too (like dogs and birds), but horses and cats are the top 2.

I'll bring some sort of rice dish. Either a pilaf or stir fry.

I should be able to go this year! The last one of these I was at was in 2012. I'll have some G3 and G4's for sale.
I'll also be making up cutie mark nail decals. I'm thinking of having a mix of G4 and G1 cutie marks, but we'll see what time allows. :work:
