~ Cordyceps ~

I really moved on this one.

Cordyceps is based off the real parasitic fungus that hijacks insects and uses their body to grow from. The result is hollow exoskeletons with finger like tendrils reaching out. There are several different types. Cordyceps enemies are also in the game The Last of Us (which I own but still haven't played, and now the remake is out... my game backlog is huge). There is some Standing Oak fungus too.

Anyway! This is my ponified take on all that.

The base and all sculpting was done with Super Sculpey. The tendrils have wires for extra support. Painted in acrylics. Sand was used to give the texture effect on the body. She's rehaired in some brown shade I had leftover.

Wow, it looks fantastic!  I love the texture you've achieved...did you just mix sand with glue to get it to stick?

I've never played the game though I've been aware of it for a few years.  I think I may have to watch the show though since Pedro Pascal is one of my favorite actors.

Yes, it's sand. I painted glue on and then poured it over.

Wow!    This is an amazingly gorgeous piece of art!  I guess I've said it before, but I'll say it again, you're really talented!

(This reminds me a little of the Calocera viscosa that grows here in the forests of Finland. It's not poisonous, but it's inedible. )

Using sand to achieve the rough texture is so clever. The colours on the pony really make it look petrified and creepy.

Oh wow, this is really neat! Fungi, and especially more specifically, parasitic fungi is quite an unusual theme for a pony custom and I love everything about it. Nice work!
