Hi guys,
I have this pony which is a mail order twinkler, shes was super yellow and smokey smelling when i got her but every time i try to change that it seems to nothing seems to change.
I've tried oxyclean which altered the color and smell for a bit but it sadly reverted back. Over the last 2 days I've tried sun soaking her in hydrogen peroxide with a little water and it seemed to work great, thought she seems to be reverting back to yellow.
please can anyone help me figure out how to get rid of the cigarette smell and yellow stain.

I would remove the smell first. There are a few ways you can do this, but putting the pony in kitty litter or baking soda in an air-tight container seems to be the most popular option.
I wrapped some ponies in a vinegar-soaked paper towel for a little bit and that seemed to help, but I'm not sure if that would be a good idea for glitter ponies. The ponies needed a bit of airing out after to truly rid the smell.

My Peppermint Crunch was a chainsmoker when I got her, but general airing her out over time got rid of the smell completely. If it's really so bad its staining her though then putting her in something like baking soda is probably a good idea first.
...I did have a birthflower pony who smelt like she had been swimming in car oil and I admit I strapped her on the outside windowsill and left her on there for a few days (it was summer) which really helped...

Genuinely don't know the answer to that as I had to google the difference (as we call the stuff bicarbonate of soda rather than baking soda here so I had assumed till you asked that that was the same thing but I guess in the US it isn't...). It seems like bicarb is in baking powder but I imagine the pure agent is better?

I thought I had typed an answer last class. Darn you, free campus Wifi, you better not double-post!
It'll be less costly to just buy a small package of baking soda than to use your more expensive baking powder, but it should work, you just might have to use more of it.

I don't think baking powder will work . . . At least I've never heard people recommend it for cleaning. I'd buy baking soda, it's really cheap. Like $1 a box.

I've gotten smoke smell out by washing the pony (with Dawn but I'm.not sure that matters), and keeping the pony outside for long periods of time to air out.
ETA : not in the sun, just outside. (making that distinction due to other comments below me)

:blink: I've never seen a Twinkler that color before. Poor pony. I suggest periods of airing her out and wrapping her in dryer cloths. That's helped me get the smoke out of several toys including a Chief who clearly came from a chain smokers home.
As for her coloring, perhaps a deep dye would help?

Nope not the same. Just buy some, it is so cheap and you can get it just about anywhere. Certainly any grocery store.

Wow she's unusual looking! I'm wondering whether someone has already treated her with something harsh to get her to go like that. I don't use bleach/dish detergent/peroxide on ponies becasue I think they are too harsh. I would try dipping her in baking soda for a while as the others have said.

Oh wow I just saw the photos-
I honestly don't think there is any possible way of restoring that pony to her original color. You can get rid of the smell eventually by drowning it with baking soda, (put it in a box cover her with the stuff)
but the color of the plastic looks like a permanent change- something has happened to the vinyl. She should look like this

I have seen a lot of "sunburnt" looking sparkle ponies that look kinda yellow/orange like this:

but your pony looks completely different...
I can't even guess what is going on here? Maybe this is because you soaked her in Oxi or bleach? That seems like a very risky move for this kind of pony- has that ever worked for you before? If the pony didn't look like that to start out- I'm guessing there was some kind of chemical reaction to cause that look?

*sigh* I wish new pony collectors would do more research before jumping into chemical-based treatments. GAH! Where did you learn about the treatments you used? If you had asked here first, I doubt anyone would have recommended to immediately use Oxiclean, followed by hydrogen peroxide! Oxyclean ruins tinselled hair, to start with...
I agree with Galactica... you used FAR TOO STRONG chemicals on your pony.... :( A good kitty litter and baking soda treatment would have removed the smell in a few weeks.
Also the Twinkle Ponies regularly discolour and get yellow, that's just age spots. I hope you haven't damaged the vinyl because there's no repairing that.

Once your pony is fully dried out I would recommend a long stay in a deep freeze or freezer. I have had this help to take smokey smells out (plus it freaks out anyone else in your house).
When it comes to odors/discoloration first suggestion would be a simple wash with antibacterial soap and water, inside and out. Always let ponies fully dry when their insides get wet or else their washers can rust.
I have never used cat litter as the dust causes my eye allergies to go absolutely batty, that's why I do the freezer method for stronger smells.

she turned back to the dark yellow. Also sorry for any cringy mistakes I have made, I've been going off of suggestions from discord servers and tutorials o.line. But i'm most likely going to just try and dye her back to a purple hue. To answer the person wondering if her plastic was damaged, no her plastic and paint are fine and the reason i'm trying to restore her purplish pink so much is because she is a mail order pony,

for how she became this color is this was post sun fading in water and peroxide, looking back it was not the best idea for a glitter pony but whats done is done and at least she wasn't damaged. also the camera made her look worse becuase she looked much clearer and yellow in person, im guessing she looked so ghosty because i was sitting next to and bright window

this is how she looked when i first bought her. she came from a smokers home though the person who sold it didn't mention that it was exposed to smoke.

I would avoid using any chemicals at all on G1 ponies like the plague. We know well by now that the plastic is not as stable in a 30+ year old toy as maybe it was years ago - it's impossible to predict the long term outcome if you add other chemicals to the mix. Quick fixes (like we learned with acne cream) can have long consequences. I personally wish people didn't use any form of bleach related chemical because we can't know the long term impact. It's a better rule of thumb to begin small and work up, not jump straight into the chemical level. Just a tip for the future.
Also, as the second image Galactica posted is my pony, I feel it's important to clarify that's not a proper comparison. My Twinkler is sun damaged on her display side but the pony pictured is a store pony. The OP is talking about MO Twinkler. MO Twinkler's plastic/glitter composition (as with all the MO Sparkles) is often more dense than that in the store pony release. That means all kinds of possible different ways in which she might discolour. Let's not forget that brown Nappers more commonly seem to occur in the green haired mail order version than the store version.

the acne cream continues to affect the plastic long after it has been washed off, and can bleach the parts it was used on to white/yellow
this is a thread on it i had in my history -> http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,330090.0.html i remember another one with bow tie too, who had white spots, but i cant find that currently
i wouldn't risk it even on a white pony either because theres a chance it may spread to others through contact (i've heard of this happening with other stuff, maybe with acne cream in particular but i'm not sure)

It can also take a long time to manifest so it is basically a ticking time bomb.
