Pony Corral / PonyCon preparations!
« on: September 27, 2018, 01:52:09 PM »
PonyCon UK is only a few weeks away (16 days!) and I'm so excited!

Its my first PonyCon and I'm dragging my unfortunate mum along with me. Honestly, shes thrilled, even if she won't admit it.

I was just wondering what everyone is doing to prepare? I'm thinking about making a list of the few ponies, accessories and bits and bobs I'm desperately after (with pictures for my mum), so we can split up and look through stalls faster. Is this a good idea?

I'm tempted to make a schedule of everything I'd like to see, but if i did I doubt I'd stick to it (I'm really bad for not sticking to things, I made a massive revision timetable for my GCSE's that took me four hours, and I stuck to it for a day...)

If you're going to PonyCon, what will you be doing? Is there anything that you want to see? I'm not entirely sure what I want to do other than shop right now!

Heh, I got a good one. lol.
For all my childood up until recently, I always though G3 Rainbow Wishes' symbol was a rosette instead of a Ferris Wheel. :'D

Wait what? I always thought it was a Rosette too! A Ferris Wheel makes a lot more sense though seeing as though she came with the Rainbow Wishes Amusement Park

So, I went to see Mamma Mia! Here we go again last Monday with my family and although I really enjoyed it, I noticed some timeline mess ups/plot holes..

(Please don't read this if you haven't seen the new movie or if you love Mamma Mia too much, this is just my brain overworking and I don't want to be responsible for ruining it for anyone...)

Spoiler

1) During the Donna flashbacks where she meets the three musketeers, its dated as 1979, but, the first movie is set in 2008 (I'm just guessing due to the technology) and Sophie tells Bill shes 20. Which means she was born in 1987/88 but the flashbacks put the movie year at 1999/2000.

2) In the second movie during the Sky/Sophie singing scene where Sky is in NY, Sophie has an iPhone (my cousin said it looks like a 8? I have no idea) which places the year as 2017/18. But Sky has an Nokia brick type phone which places the year around 2005ish.

3) Sophie says later on that Cher/Ruby is 25 years late to be her grandmother, which messes up the timeline further. If Sophie is only 25, then the movie is set in 2005, which again doesn't work with the technology.

4) In the first movie when Donna sees the three Muskateers in her goat shed, she sees them all as their past selves where the look like metal-heads (Im sorry i cant think of another way to describe them) and she calls harry, 'Harry Headbanger. In the new movie, they didn't follow through with the vision Donna had, and they just look like normal guys.

I can't think of anymore at the moment, but as i think of them I'll post them here!

I deeply apologise for ruining it.

Pony Corral / Re: Thoughts on Minimalism
« on: July 22, 2018, 05:07:48 PM »
I love the idea of minimalism, but I'm too much of a clutter lover! (And I buy way too much stuff)

I'm also not too good at getting rid of things, I always end up feeling bad because someone bought me the thing I want to sell on, but that's just my anxiety... >_<

I agree with banditpony though, start small, with the things you really don't like and then work your way from there. If you really regret selling something, there's nothing to say you couldn't buy another!

Pony Corral / Re: Collected ponies older than you as a kid?
« on: July 21, 2018, 05:48:59 PM »
I did! Some of my childhood herd is 20 years older than me  I was born in 2001 and have been collecting G1's since the faithful day my granddad gave me my aunts childhood collection. I was around 2 at the time but I still remember it clearly lol.

I used to collect Care Bears, Monster Highs and of course My Little Ponies.

I was never fully into care bears, I collected them because they were everywhere when we went to charity shops and car-boot sales. When it came time to sell them, I didn't regret it.

I was kind of forced to give my monster highs away (my dad told his friend that I had some dolls and I would give them to her daughter, without asking me) and its a huge regret to me, I really wish I'd said no but my anxiety doesn't allow me to do that

When I fell out of love with ponies for 4+ years, I wasn't sure what to do. Part of me wanted to sell the, and the other part wanted me to keep them because of the sentimental value. I'm very glad I kept them because i am now fully in love with ponies again!

Personally, I would put the collections in storage and wait another 10-20 years to see what they're then worth!

The only pegasus from my g3 collection I sold without regret.
If I ever find one with no scent, she will come home with me. I had her from store and honestly...that's not a nice smell. Coconut Grove and I think Citrus Sweetheart...both ponies I love the look of but cannot stand the smell so sold them.

Citrus Sweetheart is one of my favourite ponies. Shes one of the only ones I actually remember buying and she still has the same orange smell to her after all these years, touch wood she wont loose it. Orange is one of my favourite scents and flavours!

I understand the disgusting smells though, my friend has one of her and she has one of the worst scents I've ever had the displeasure of smelling. Almost level with Coconut Grove. Its a shame their original scents fade and distort >_<

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: What game are you playing? Cont.

I have just downloaded Fortnite to see what all the hype is about. All the kids at work are going on about it so I feel like I need to do strictly professional 'research' in order to keep up with what they're talking about in class...

But I'm mostly just waiting for The Last of Us 2 to come out which if it's anything like the first one will be amazing.

I downloaded Fortnite too to see what it was like, I played it for about an hour and gave up! I don't function well with survival games, hence the reason why i only play minecraft on creative or peaceful survival...

Pony Corral / Re: stupid things sellers do (tell me)
« on: June 23, 2018, 03:34:46 PM »
I have one from just a few days ago too, its not so much bad, but hilarious at the same time.

I bought 3 ponies from the same seller, and they came all together in a box, wrapped in newspaper (luckily there was no ink transfer). As soon as I opened the box there was an overwhelming smell of something illegal, I don't even need to say what it was, its obvious

Me and my brother had a good laugh over how obvious and strong the smell was and the fact that they hadn't even tired to mask it, and the ponies are currently sitting in a tub of cat litter to try and get rid of the smell!

Off Topic / Re: The trivial complaints thread
« on: June 23, 2018, 08:09:17 AM »
I like this thread, it feels good to complain without being judged

Seriously though, why are ducks so nosey?

I had a heart attack moment earlier when the neighbor knocked on my door to tell me one of my ducks had some string in her mouth and was trying to swallow it. I just thought he meant some baler twine or something, but no. It was a really long piece of thick blue rope that she had partially swallowed. I spent 20 minutes trying to slowly prize it out of her mouth and I've never been so scared! I honesty thought I killed her at one point because she gagged and went limp.

It eventually came out and I put her down and she ran off quacking at me, if she was human she would have been so disgusted with me. The part she had swallowed was 6 inches long and she's only a call duck too so the rope would have shut off her airways if the neighbors hadn't of noticed and warned me.

Hopefully it'll teach her to stop being nosy and eating everything she sees, and its definitely taught me to constantly check and duck proof the garden!

Pony Corral / Which generation do you have the most ponies from?

Just curious because I mainly collect G1's, but I have 400 (give or take a few) G3's...

Which generation do you have the most of?

Pony Corral / Re: Help! G3 Morning Glory prone to hair breakage?!
« on: June 23, 2018, 07:55:44 AM »
I've never experienced anything like this with any of my ponies before, how strange!

My Morning Glory's hair is perfectly intact (i even tugged it to see if it would snap and it did't), and shes been exposed to the elements over and over again.

Maybe she's come into contact with chemicals that no-ones noticed, and they'e damaged the hair fibers to the point of snapping when you washed them?
