Title: Price question on locket
Post by: ponyprincess2021 on April 16, 2021, 08:22:35 PM
I’m buying locket soon but I really need to know if she’s worth the price because I’ve only been able to find her at over 100$ or 80$. But I’ve also seen locket sold for 15$. I really want to know what made her so much money and if it’s worth buying her at a price like this.

Her price fluctuates a lot. I've seen her as low as $15 and as high as $100. Prices all over are a bit high right now, if you want to find her cheaper, I suggest checking for lots where you can spread the cost across multiple ponies and then sell any unwanted ones. I paid just $10+shipping for mine since she came in a lot with a few other less desirable ponies. I couldn't tell her condition from the photos, but she ended up to be in pretty nice shape, which is always a risk.
Her price is just because she's from a second wave of a set and people like her. There might be some condition issues as well that drive up her price if she's in nice condition.

Locket generally goes between $20-$30. I'm seeing a lot of greedy idiots on Ebay trying to sell ponies for waaay more then they're worth lately.  They think old stuff automatically =big bucks, and don't know their butts from a hole in the ground.

Someone else was trying to sell Fizzy and Gingerbread for $84  and $100. I was like, what?

Just wait them out and find a seller who actually knows what they're doing.

The problem is I can’t find her for less on my eBay I saw a lot with her for only 50$ but her hair is missing and I have no idea how to re hair I wonder if this is a similar reason to why twice as fancy yum yum is so much I might actually look for her a different time then

Nah. Like I said, just greedy idiots. Plus its not like ebay is the only place to buy used stuff. ;)

I got mine for $28 a few months back.

I sold mine for $30 on ebay. mine had an age spot. but otherwise she was in good condition.

i think $80 - $100 is high. unless she's in perfect condition. I've had good luck on Etsy too. Or try to find a seller here on the Arena. Usually sellers on ebay have to cover the seller fees so the prices can be higher.

i would wait for a better price.

Ha! I saw someone trying to sell a green fakie baby pony off as Ice Crystal. I didn't know if I wanted to laugh or face palm.

I use eBay and Etsy Amazon doesn’t have much on there but I would use other sites but I only use what my family trusts

I wonder if someone actually bought it I wouldn’t be surprised because of how many crazy things I’ve seen sold

You're not gonna find G1 on Amazon, at least not for good prices.
I would also just wait. It's usually a bit of a waiting game to find ponies you want with a good price. I suggest turning on notifications on the eBay app if you can so you get notified when something comes up. You might get a good price if it's a BiN.
Mercari is another place to maybe look.

Yeah I think waiting is the best choice i was almost almost going to buy the lot but i really didn’t want or care for the other pony in the lot

The key is to look at the sold listings (you can do this on both Ebay and Mercari) when trying to gauge the average price of something; people can list for whatever price they want, but the sold listings will tell you how much people are actually paying for them.

Locket definitely does fluctuate (as do most ponies), but with patience it's not impossible to find her for a lower price!

Yeah I looked at sold ones and I realized how she definitely wasn’t worth it at the price I was going to buy her I’m also wondering what’s a good price for twice as fancy yum yum she’s another pony I’d love to own

Yum Yum can fluctuate depending on condition. I would say only pay $80+ if she is in near perfect condition with pink hair.

I saw her with her pink hair for 95$ but I think she’s another pony I’d probably wait for

I use pic click and I would buy ponies from here but I don’t know how it works I usually just immediately buy something I would try mercari but for some reason I feel like I can’t trust it even though I never used it

You can browse the For Sale section here and simply PM the seller when you find something interesting. Always remember to check their feedback before any transactions, though! (See 'Trade count' under the person's username, when you click on the number it takes you to their feedback.) Most sellers take Paypal.

It's more slow going than eBay and such, but I've gotten a lot of ponies for far cheaper and described extremely accurately by going through here instead of other outlets. :) Always nice to sort of keep it in house.
Yum Yum is a good example. I got mine in a lot for about $10 on here. I would not pay the prices she's garnering right now. The pandemic really inflated prices all over, and I'm hoping they'll decrease to a point.

I have a small kinda medium sized collection I have 60? ponies in my room  and no duplicates unless their g4 there’s probably tons in bins somewhere not much of my stuff is worth a lot usually when shopping i try to pay under 100$ Also I’ve seen sometimes eBay sales and mercari stuff with identical pictures which worries me

I wouldn't pay anything over the $20-$30 range for her. I came really close to nabbing her in a lot with several other coveted G1s for $25 from a local ad recently, but the seller suddenly stopped responding. I have the sneaking suspicion another buyer offered more money if they would sell it to them instead.

I just sold a yum yum for $50, she was in great shape except her hair was about half faded.  I think that was a reasonable price. I based it on past ebay sales and then took some off because it was to an arena person and off eBay so no fees.

I also agree that looking for locket in larger lots is a good strategy.  Just last week I saw an ebay listing with her and a bunch of less desirable ponies and I think it went for a reasonable price.  But yeah, ponies seen to be going for alot on ebay right now.  And unless the photos are super good you don't know exactly what flaws you are getting.

Good luck getting her!

Usually I don’t care if a pony is dirty or has messy hair because I do enjoy cleaning them unless it’s something I can’t fix also I would find a lot but it’s very difficult to find a cheap lot that doesn’t cost a ton usually lots are over 100$ and I really don’t have the money to just buy one also a lot of lots I see usually you have to bid for
