Would you customize a soft sleepy newborn?
« on: January 25, 2016, 08:49:50 AM »
I have this girl I was wondering what to do with. She's in terrible condition. This poor girl suvived a house fire.  It was over 10 years ago so any smell of smoke is gone and I've had her just sitting around ever since.  Lots of marks, rubbed symbol on nds, dry hair, eyes don't blink and the worst part is the body discoloration.  See pics below. Didnt know about selling her to be customized or doing it myself but the SSN's are pretty htf.

I wouldn't. I think they're too hard to find. I think you could find a collector that wants her. For example, I'm not very picky and would totally make room for her.  I like the house fire survival story, makes her cooler.

I'd restore over customizing. She's easier to find than Hushabye but still this set is sought after.

I'd love to see how she looks after a H202 soak. It helps with yellowing... What have you used to clean her? With her mechanics not working, she could be helpful for pony science. It would also be interesting to see what the insides of one of those looks like...

I had to behead mine to restore, actually, and made a diagram at one point for a few people who needed to clean their own. You have to be careful because there's a mechanism that could possibly break when taking the head off, but mine stayed in tact. (theres' a plastic piece that clips against the lip of the neck plug) Tinkering with the inards and cleaning them can actually repair the eye mechanism as well.

I'd be up for trying to restore her if no one else is, I find a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction in doing so :) I can also take detailed pics of my own with her head off (I never resealed it) if it'll help others along in repairing the ones in their own collections!!

I agree, would be sad to customise her!  Definitely restore, or send to a loving home as she is :)

A diagram would be nice. My pink dreams has but a tail stub and I would like to replace it someday. It's nice to know what you're up against.
