Connecting on Twitter

So I started Twitter for marketing my book, but I've ended up really liking it. For a writer, it's actually really nice! It forces me to try to come up with more creative thoughts, so it helps my creativity; I work on using humor; and also it teaches me about being concise with my ideas since it limits characters.
Most of my friends don't use Twitter! Does anybody have tips of how I can connect with people there? For example, how do I find other writers who are new to the author scene like myself? The only thing I have come up with is to search #writer or #writerproblems but it seems like usually the same people using the hashtags.
Any advice? Thanks!

I don't know. Maybe you could make a twitter post asking and they'll crawl out of the woodwork?

Maybe you can start off first with your local book clubs or writers' association/societies? Tap into their twitter circles from there if they have accounts of their own

I did social media marketing for music gigs so I have no clue how the writing scene is like but I hope this helps in that aspect! x
