Pony Corral / Re: What are your thoughts on opening MIP G1's?
« on: October 26, 2014, 04:52:30 AM »
It's a matter of patience. Sooner, or later you will find an unboxed one in good condition, and then you can sell the boxed, buy unboxed and buy yourself a bucket of ice cream for the difference in price (or even something more, than ice cream, if the difference is $500...). So, just wait, till you find an unboxed one IMO.

Pony Corral / Re: G1: My Unexpected Love

I told myself, “I’m not starting up a pony collection, I already hardcore collect Pokémon and I haven’t the room or money for a new collection. I’m just getting this one character.”

Hah, I remember the same thing from 2 years or so ago! I got my first pony too, because I just wanted something related to FiM - and it was supposed to be the one and only. Of course, it didn't end on one pony...

Anyway, that's a great story, and yes, Arena is a nice place :)

Pony Corral / Re: NEW Welovefine Deluxe Figure Discord and Fluttershy

The figure doesn't look bad at all, but even if I forget about shipping costs, I can't forget, that for $100 you could get a nice custom plushie, which would be really unique, unlike some mass produced figure. And let's be honest, it's not really a pony toy, and pony toys are what I collect :)

Pony Corral / Re: Pony photograpy ideas

- Find an unique point of view and angle, get down to the level of pony face
- Interesting scenery, outside photos are better most of the time, ponies go well with nature: flowers, trees etc
- Good lighting (so outside and good weather)
- Setting up scenes of ponies doing something is good too
- ponies "assisting" you in some of your activities, the activity might be more interesting than the pony itself, but you end up with a pony photo
- windy days are good, wind spreads pony hair making it look live and natural

I would feel bad for buying from her.
It seems to me, that she promised someone (for what reason?) that the ponies will go, and now the time has come to fulfill the promise. Now I'm imagining all kinds of stories that could be connected with this little pony.

Pony Corral / Re: How many people know you collect?
« on: September 01, 2014, 12:16:29 PM »
Not counting my Internet friends, that would be my parents, my brother, his girlfriend, my friends - pretty much everyone, who had been in my home. In total some 15-20 people.
As for work...  during our company Christmas supper, I overheard one girl talking how this new pony cartoon is awful and she won't let her children watch it... so I decided to not talk about ponies at work (on the over hand, during interview for this job, I showed a pony video game that I made, as an example of my skills, so at least the person that interviewed me knows the truth :P).
At my previous workplace though, I had blind bag Twilight Sparkle sitting on my desk, so pretty much everyone knew.

Pony Corral / Re: Who has a Pony Travel Buddy?

I don't usually travel with ponies, but this time I made Applejack my travel buddy during my holiday in Jizera and Karkonosze mountains, which made her a true mountain pony^^

Pony Corral / Re: Tips on protecting ponies in a home with smokers??
« on: August 10, 2014, 01:04:09 AM »
The only way: keep them closed tight in something, that is hermetic, and never put out. My grandparents were heavy smokers, and when we had to clear their house, we discovered, that smoke residues were even inside a photo camera, that was closed in a locker! It was a pity, because the residues were so heavy, that they sticked to the shutter, and made it inoperable... so yeah, there's no way to protect stuff against a heavy smoker, except sealing it tight.

Pony Corral / Re: Price Comparison by Country!
« on: August 08, 2014, 01:53:15 PM »
In Poland, basic Pinkie Pie is 31,99 PLN (around $10) and big, talking Twilight Sparkle is 246,99 PLN (around $80). Big Cadance is 111 PLN ($34), and Equestria Girls dolls are between 100 - 150 PLN ($30 - $50).
I wonder why Twilight is worth so much more than Cadance? I always knew, that she is best princess, but still...

Pony Corral / Re: Pony plans for Poland
« on: June 21, 2014, 03:26:08 PM »
At this moment the big brand stores have the same assortment, as any other place, so you won't find anything unique, but you can ask your family about small toy stores away from big shopping centres, as those sometimes have G3 ponies.
As for big toy stores, the biggest brand is probably Smyk, and the only interesting thing, that I've recently seen in Smyk in my city was the rainbow power fashion style Fluttershy. Other than that all the usual stuff. We also have Toys 'r Us, and thus all the TRU exclusives.

I don't live in Gdansk, so I can't tell you much about flea markets, I know there is one in Poznan, where I live :P . Chance for finding ponies on a flea market is another thing though... if you visited it daily for several months, you would have some chance, but if you hope to find something in one or two visits, you would have to be very lucky. Still it most likely will be G3.
Polish auction services can be good place to hunt for those overpriced G4 euro exclusives, such us Star Swirl or Skywishes. If they appear, they sell for less than half of their Ebay price.
If you're interested, you can look for licensed items, like books, magazines, clothes etc. These can be found mostly in supermarkets and general stores.
Generally, Poland is not any special place for ponies. We got G1 relatively late and not many people seen them as collectible items, so only a few survived and mostly in bad condition. G2 also wasn't very popular, at least I didn't see many G2 ponies. G3 was quite popular and as for G4 we tend to get all the euro exclusives (including elusive ones, like Ploomette + Twilight set). That's all I think :)
