Those names Were Snips and Snails REALLY not copyrightable?

Would that matter? I mean, "Barbie" is just a nickname for Barbara but they where able to copyright it in reference to a doll + related products

Nope it wouldnt matter. There are multiple trademarks for the same words already listed. It will be a combination of creating easier to defend, less likely to be copied and more "ponified" versions of the names.
