Renaming ponies..
« on: July 18, 2013, 05:40:26 PM »
I saw someone mention that some of the names for G3s aren't always a good match for the ponies they're for. Therefore I ask if there's any alternate names for G3 you'd like to share? Any other gen too. :)

Cinnamon Breeze is a weird name to me for this girl. I'd name her Cinnamon Swirl. Maybe Cinnamon Delicious.

This girl is Lavender Cloud, but that doesn't fit to me. I can't think of a good alternative name yet.

Hee hee this is a good thread, thanks for making it! ^.^

Cinnamon Breeze, I agree! I'm thinking... Cinna-bun

Lavender Cloud (what is this name, seriously? She has no lavender and the cloud isn't even the most interesting thing in her cutie mark!) should be...hmm... Pastel Pinwheel or Pinwheel Surprise.

Other names I would change:

April Mist (cutie mark is an umbrella...) = April Showers, duh! "April showers bring may flowers" everyone knows that :P
August Breeze (a lot of these birthstone ponies got poorly named...) = August Seashore or August Shoreline
Blushie (another name I don't get...) = Pale Rose
Cute Curtsey (bleh!) = Carriage Racer or Ribbon Racer
Jade Garden (you don't get to be named Jade if you're not green!) = Flower Fall or Flower Cascade
Pearly Pie (your name makes no sense, ms. pegasus) = Mango Blossom

The winter ponies suffered most horribly when it came to names! They get their own section:

Snow'El #1 = Mittens (yeah not so original, but every time I look at her that immediately pops into my head. Plus the awesome name of Snow'El should definitely go to the pretty white pegasus!)
Mittens (FAIL! YOUR CUTIE MARK IS A CHRISTMAS TREE!) = Pink Noel or Tannenbaum
Mistletoe (you could've got by with this if you came with some as an accessory...) = Power Soft (for her white color)
Toboggan (nice name if you didn't have a snowflake on your butt!) = Snowdrop
Sno-Glo (what does that even mean..?) = Gift Giver
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!

When I was a kid I named my childhood Lovin' Kisses "Magenta" because of her magenta hair. Star Glow was "Shante" (pronounced shawn-tay) because there was a girl in my class named Shante who, very strangely, had this facial structure that reminded me of Star Glow... I don't know. :p

I know there is a member here who has renamed Gypsy because the term is technically a slur. :( I'm sure that Hasbro meant no harm by it, but they certainly could have been a little more careful when choosing names. I unofficially call her Cher because of that one song. :silly: Once I get a Steamer I am renaming him too, because I hate the name. If I don't just call him Tracks like he was named in the UK, then I really like Lionel, like the Lionel trains.

Oh yeah...I agree with DragonFlitter, "Mittens" was always a weird one to me considering her symbol.

I like to get my mum to rename ponies she does not know the original name of - she can be rather creative...unfortunately for ever Chief is going to be called Red Snake in my house :P *head desk*

I've always called SS Twilight Candlelight, & I'll never understand why Hasbro didn't do the same.  Darn recycling!
Perhaps MM Windy could be Kite Catcher. :3
& as for poor old Floater... couldn't she have been Drifter or something less... unpleasant? xD

I never did like the names Floater and Steamer.  I think someone at Hasbro was trying to sneak in as many poo names as possible.
