Perhaps you could spray them with a smell you like that could cover up the smell?
i've tried that with no luck :(

I got 3 that reeked of it...someone on here mentioned kitty litter (fresh steps), which I had
so each pony got put in a ziplock bag filled with kitty litter - I let them sit for a week or two
it removed the cigarette smell. and after a bath they smelled a lot less of the kitty litter (plus, I could still use the littler for my cat after that)

small update: freezing the pony didn't work :/ oh well, on to the baking soda! thanks everyone for the advice :)

ahaha, that's brilliant. I used napisan and it dulled the hair colour and the frabric softner turned the tips of her mildly yellow orz.
