I would imagine you'd have to save all your invoices from Ebay and the like to prove value...  :( Best of luck figuring it out!

That only works if you pay what it's worth or more not when you get a bargain or find rapunzel at a boot fair!!! It's a minefield of complication :)

It's really too bad that someone here at the Arena isn't professionally an appraiser.... they would have SO MUCH BUSINESS!

I've got a quote from Aviva for home contents insurance which includes my collection, so get in touch with them ;) They do require you to cover your whole contents, not specifically a collection, but when it comes to the time to renew it's definitely worth looking at them. The policy is really good and also includes buildings. I've got "the works" (lol) for £38 per month, and that's with us having one claim. I've asked very specific questions about the collection and they say that an inventory and photos is enough for the ones I already have, as I don't have receipts, and they've advised to maintain the list and photos and keep receipts for any future purchases.

Before I spoke to them I was also enquiring with Stamp Insurance and am waiting responses to a few questions but they look to offer cover for this type of collection. As a rough figure, to insure a collection for £10k it would be £58 per year with no excess. So I'll update you when they answer my questions, which were basically about what type of proof of ownership I'd need (receipts, are paypal receipts ok, photos etc) :)

Yes they'll do whatever you need works out at about £5 per £1000, I'm just waiting on policy wording and details of excess etc!

I just wanted to update to say that Stamp Insurance came back to me with my queries (a few days ago but I didn't have time to post) and they seem really good and definitely worth a look!

Just as a quick price idea for you, the info they sent me states that a £5k collection would cost £32.45 per year, £10k = £59.74, £15k = £87.04 and £30k = £168.92 per year :)

Their email is [email protected] :)

edit: the only reason I'm not using them is that I took out a new home insurance policy that covers me fully for my collection :)
