Well, hathorcat, due to the fact that G1 ponies were slowly dying out in 1993-1994, Hasbro did a lot of weird things to keep G1 going, such as the Surprise Twins Pony, Princess Sparkle, and the Candy Babies. That Melody was probably a euro nirvana pony, or some unknown release, but photos will confirm it.
The mysteries are things like if all of a group of german 1994 babies came out, or if the MLP and Friends comic had issues past 51.

I dont know if I would call ponies like the Candy Babies weird - as Hasbro had stopped the line in the US we got a lot of additional sets over here but all of them are pretty well documented now. It was Hasbro UK and International Hasbros continuing to push the line not Hasbro US of course. Similar to how G2 was so abrupt in the US but continued for a longer period internationally. As for the 1994 set of babies in Germany, there was no mysterious release so I am not sure what that mystery actually is. Unless you mean the Nesties but again they are well known about now.

Don't know much about them, aside from the characters. I always wanted Bright Eyes. Am browsing this thread for pictures and information.

There are very few mysteries about the later years of MLP. If anything there aren't as many as the early years as by then there were adult collectors. That's partly why there are more MOCs as well. Plus shop stock sometimes hung around for a number of years.

There are some though, like the alt pose best friend babies. Would be interested to see this Melody!

I believe they came with both? I never saw a MOC Tales pony without a comb.

No the second run came with only the stickers. However the second run was smaller, for a shorter period and I think it only appeared in a few countries.
