I put this in this section as not sure where it belongs. I went to the hospitla today about latex allergy and I have been told to avoid all products containing latex. Now the nurse said toys should be ok but I only mentioned dolls. I know theyare made of vinyl. What are MLPs made of? Is it similar material to Barbiee or Sindy dolls? Obviously they aren't rubbery but I'm wondeirng would any accessories best be avoided with toys now. I know I'm not gonna play with them too much like a little kid LOL but I'd hate to have something that could make me sick. I'd appreciate it any of you know of any pony products I should avoid. I'm guessing if there was anything ti'd be the older ones maybe?

I would *guess* (and this is a strict guess, because I actually have no real idea) that they would be fine. Since latex allergies are actually more common than I think most people realize, I feel like most toy companies would try to avoid known potential health hazards instead of dealing with a law suit. Hoping someone can give you a definitive answer!

Thanks for the quick reply Katika! :)That has helped alot. Makes sense. Yeah if anybody has anything to chip in I'd appreciate that too.

I have a latex allergy too :) To be honest I never had any problem with any of my ponies or their accessories - I know that the skin contact is okay too unless I have my skin cut somewhere or if there is rubbing of the material against it, etc. I think you should be fine :)

I'm also allergic to latex. I've never had any problems with my ponies
-
ditto on the latex... no problems here!
-
i am allergic o latex as well and no isses with the ponys

Chiming in to agree- I have a latex allergy too (too many years wearing latex gloves in the lab) and I've never had any issues with ponies or their accessories.

I am sure you will be fine. :) As Katika items like toys which are designed to be handled so much and by a demographic whose allergies may not be known or may be keen will not have anything like latex in them. Although back in the 80s things were not quite as protective; MLP do not have anything in them you would need to worry overly about.

I'm on the latex allergy list because of a related food allergy (weird!), and I've never had problems with any toys... the only thing I can think of having to watch out for are customizing supplies-- sticking to nitrile or cotton gloves if you wear gloves to work, making sure to get latex-free rubber bands. BUT, just as long as we're talking latex and craftiness, latex paints DON'T contain latex!

My mom is allergic to latex and sometimes has to be careful around elastic bands. I know some accessories might have those (like the party hats). Otherwise, it sounds like you'll be fine. :)

I also have a fairly mild latex allergy, but have never had any problems. ^^

Thanks everybody for your replies! I appreciate them! That's set my mind at ease! It's also good to know I'm not alone with this allergy. I guess it's more ocmmon then people think.I will be careful if I customize my ponies to check what I'm using.Oh yes, rubber bands best avoided. I guess I'll be careful what I put in my ponies hair from now on. :)
