THE BEST TOOL FOR GETTING THE HAIR OUT OF A PONY
« on: May 09, 2013, 02:27:49 PM »
I have discovered an amazing way of getting the mane out of my baits...my boyfriend! Lol he got the mane out of a bait pony I was trying my best to de-hair. He says he'll do the next one too. Me lucky
I still have to buy tools for re-hairing but now I feel a lot better about doing hair on ponies because I struggle to get the hair out myself.
Anyone else ever get assistance when customizing?

Hemostats are my friend.
I only do G4s though so I dunno how good they are on other ponies.
When the Equestria Girls dolls show up in stores and you end up with unneeded doubles, PM me! I'll buy them!/i]

My hub helps me pull the heads off (ones that are not glued) and its awesome! Right now I don't have the proper tools I need for pulling the hair out except for pliers so yurp. xD So I believed I asked this question before on the thread a few months back but never got advice I could work with. @ hannaliten, if you don'tmind me asking, how do you get the EXTREMELY stubborn glue out of the heads? If you rather not say, I completely understand coz I know its a trick of the trade type thing.  :P Any help would be greatly appreciated for some of us!

Extremely stubborn glue is a tough one. Sometimes I shove a cotton ball soaked in acetone inside the head and leave it there for a while (depending on the gen, they won't fit in g4s), qtip dipped in acetone works well too. Sometimes the best help is to push the hair/glue from the outside with an awl or a push pin.

I've had heads I've had to step on to get the chunks of glue to loosen, sometimes I boil them. There are no bad solutions for that problem :)

Thank you for the great tip!  :) I would of never thought about that. Hahaha.. I usually stick a sharp object on the outer end and try to push the remaining glue out or scrape it out. xD It never works. I will try this out very soon! I find that the gen3's are the hardest ones to work with. SO MUCH GLUE! The people putting the hairs in where probably like singing a song like... la la la I love glue... la la la.... glue is my ish la la la.... xD

This. Plus hot water and needle nose pliers. :)

I have made my fiance hold a pony while I cut its hair before, that's about it.

I use a pointy metal pick to scrape and pull at the glue, then grab at the loose bits with needle nose pliers.  A lot of my G4s get the boil treatment too, as I boil the bodies to soften the area around the neck plugs, so I throw the head in too.

yes that works with with me- and for gen 4 to get the neck plug out with an exato knife and leave the pony's body in the hot water for 10 minutes, take it out with a tool grabbing the neck plug and dry said  pony. use exacto to cut around the plug and walla it's off- just be careful using sharp tools.

I use a flat screwdriver to scrape the hair out of the plugs from the inside and then hemostats to pull it out the neck hole.  Works for all gens.  :)
