Awesome idea, it sounds super cool! I second NoDivision: Depending on working time (and what RL throws at me) I'd so love to do this... Will there be a newbie category please? Or will this only be for established customisers?

Awwwww, a baby (or twins/triplets  :shifty: ) in the spring! How cute is that!?! Can we enter like 3 sets of couples or something? Or is it just individual ponies and our partner chooses which partners have a baby?

Good question and I'd like everyone's input on this. Do you want to send designated couples or just a list of maybe 5 ponies and let the partner pair them?

Title: Re: Gauging interest: Stork swap!
Post by: Colorscapesart on November 28, 2012, 08:13:59 AM
I would think designated pairs would be fun.

I've had rubbish luck ever finding baby baits besides g3 ones however. XD
Title: Re: Gauging interest: Stork swap!

Silly question, but do the pairs have to be heterosexual? There are just so many more girl ponies than boys. XD

pfft In my herd I choose their gender and half of the "girls" are boys in my herd. *eyes Baby CC*

I would love to participate! I love the idea! I'd have to be in a newbie catagory, though, that would be awesome if there was one. I've done customs of other toys but not ponies yet (I have done a rehair).

I agree I think it would be most fun to designate our own pairs.

Title: Re: Gauging interest: Stork swap!
Post by: NoDivision on November 28, 2012, 10:44:36 AM
I think this kind of swap lends itself well to some newwer participants, but that's up to the host of course.

I think you could allow eaither designated couples or free-for-all. I personally would like the surprise of seeing how my partner chose to match up the ponies, but don't see a problem with people specifying certain pairings if that suits them better :)
Title: Re: Gauging interest: Stork swap!
Post by: Miserati on November 28, 2012, 10:52:49 AM
I'd think about this one! I'd personally want to designate pairs though. So maybe the option to either let it be a surprise or designation?

Title: Re: Gauging interest: Stork swap!
Post by: hannaliten on November 28, 2012, 11:34:49 AM
Yeah, either just make a list or pairs. I'll let each participant decide what they want.

Feel free to pair up girls/girls, girl/boy, boy/boy. Doesn't matter :D
Title: Re: Gauging interest: Stork swap!
Post by: Alatariel-Silimaure on November 28, 2012, 11:35:56 AM
I agree, designated pairs would be best for this. I think most of us have couples in mind already for this, and I know I personally have a few couples I'm dying to see babies for
Title: Re: Gauging interest: Stork swap!
Post by: PhyllieBean on November 28, 2012, 11:42:00 AM
I'd say let the participant decide whether they want specific pairings or not too.  Personally, I'd love to see what kind of mashup my partner comes up with from a list of my favorites.

I'm always tempted by this kind of swap but I don't really collect Hasbro based customs....
also, does it have to be using a baby mold? or could the "baby" be all grown up?

(and omg - have you guys seen LLL's latest 2 pony blends?)

That would be fine by me. What does everyone else think?

(of course, a persona would be only one of several ponies listed, so there's no guarantee that your partner would pick it)

Let me get this one tiny thing clear for myself... custom base needs to be a baby bait? If so, count me in! XD I have tons of G1 babies all mangled up in my bin... And it's been ages that I've done hasbro-style customs :)
Title: Re: Stork swap - signups start 12/28

doi, thanks Nodivision for pointing out the obvious to me! :silly:

Ok, here's another question (this may be an idiot question too) do all three qualification customs have to be ponies or could some customized LPS work too? And do we have to repaint the eyes or is it ok to leave on the Hasbro eyes?

Babies!!! I have the most fun making those. I'm interested and I'm glad the sign ups are after the holidays. I've had the worst luck with the PO and my current partners are still waiting on ponies. Either way I'm keeping my eye on this one.

Hey, Tinker, maybe I will get you as a partner this time XD I can pop a GPS tracking thing inside the box and we can figure out what is up with our post offices ;D

I am SOOO excited for this. I was thinking about knitting a tiny baby blankie the other day :)

I've limited this swap to 15 participants and 5 newbie slots. I'll accept applications starting 12/28 until all slots are filled, or 1/4, whichever comes first.

A couple quick notes to my partner:

-For option #1 I specified a G4 preferentially, but have changed my mind... G1 or G4 would both be good.
-A bit of clarification for option #5: My original intention was that you choose a boy (whoever you think would be best) to match with one of the ponies listed rather than mix two of the listed ones, however if you are dying to do the latter that is perfectly okay too.
-The G1 Buttons I meant was so soft Buttons, not green TAF Buttons.

I promise not to inflict any more changes on you ^^;

Oh and if my partner wants to know which ponies are the boys on my list, just have hanna ask me. I used my childhood pairings and alot of my ponies are boys when they aren't boys to anyone else. :silly: I don't know how important that is to your designs but just in case.

I have a design in my head as well. I was playing with a 3-way design for a while, but decided against it. I think ponies always know who the father is, so that wouldn't happen

I have the design for mine finished, just trying to pick the colors for the body!  And I need to track down the right bait, I was originally going for newborn, but think I will go with a regular baby.

If you were (hypothetically) my partner, would would be ok if I tried mohair? I haven't done it before, but just bought a custom with mohair instead of nylon and it's so soft that I can't stop touching it!  And I think it would look really cute for this baby.

I've never seen mohair in person, but my mom has a pair of angora goats that have SUUUPER soft hair so I can imagine what it might feel like.

I have felt monofiber (retrodollsus.com has it) and that is also super silky! I ordered some to rehair a Barbie and a G4 pony with, and I'm still waiting for it to come. Now I need to decide on hair for my partner's baby and go order it too!
Title: Re: Stork swap - partners sent. Start working!

Never felt mohair or monofiber. Is mohair fluffy like perfume puff?

Baits - check, paint - need more
Ideas - check
Hair - just ordered.
I'm nervous and excited as this is my first order ever from dollyhair and I also got some for other customs. All my other customs a lot of hair seems to find its way to the floor. For them I ordered large amounts so I wasn't to worried, but I have no idea where I got them from now and I wanted specific colors this time.

I need to start deciding what generation to make, I have babies of one generation my partner likes but not the other and would need to order one.

wohoo, i am back too!after we did stayed at home this year, we tried a internet-less holiday with my boyfriend over two weeks, after the first week we agreed to do that another time again. XD
sorry hannaliten, for stressing you about the sign up. >o< i wouldn´t if i would have known. ^^"

but about the swap, i got a great partner and already some ideas!
now, if YOU are my potential partner, i have a few more questions to you:
- would you mind sculpted wings on a pegasus that look more natural than fitting to the gens style?
- would you mind wool hair(combed out)?  sanadaookami makes beautifull wool-pluff customs, it´s probablsy similiar to mohair and very soft. ;)
-do you mind a full body repaint?

aand for the extras: would you like keychains and magnets or rather candy?

to answer zennas question: fluffy hair is wonderfull, why not?

Poofy hair is CUTER THAN I DARE TO KNOW!

I'm not sure if I like poofy hair or not, I haven't decided.

I know for me, I've been candied out with the holidays! Of course, one can never have too much chocolate. But I do also love keychains and magnets and that kind of stuff. I wouldn't mind getting craft supples as extras too. ;)

I have a prospective partner question too... how would you feel about handmade baby accessories? (blankets and toys and such)

- would you mind sculpted wings on a pegasus that look more natural than fitting to the gens style?

Sculpted wings are fine. I'm a real big fan of folded wings, but extended wings are good too.

- would you mind wool hair(combed out)?  sanadaookami makes beautifull wool-pluff customs, it´s probablsy similiar to mohair and very soft. ;)

That would be fine

-do you mind a full body repaint?

FBRs are fine :)

-for the extras: would you like keychains and magnets or rather candy?

I would actually probably prefer no extras (unless it will truly heighten the fun of the swap for my partner). I don't have a whole lot of room for trinkets and I'm trying to avoid candy as much as possible right now. The pony will be plenty for me to enjoy :)

-how would you feel about handmade baby accessories? (blankets and toys and such)

The only accessories I would probably be interested in are things that the pony would wear, since as mentioned above, space is a bit of an issue for me. Well, if the accessories were encompassed into a stand for the pony, that would work too, since then they wouldn't be loose items floating around my room.

In answer to emuel's questions:

Would you mind sculpted wings on a pegasus that look more natural than fitting to the gens style?
That would be totally fine.  :)

Would you mind wool hair(combed out)?
That would be just fine too.

Do you mind a full body repaint?
I don't mind FBRs, as long as they're smooth.

And for the extras: would you like keychains and magnets or rather candy?
Keychains and magnets probably, as I have Celiac's and it can be a little confusing to find gluten-free candies if you're not used to looking for them.  :P

And katgyrl's question:

How would you feel about handmade baby accessories? (blankets and toys and such)
I love handmade stuff!  :)

Fine with me.

Fine with me.

Fine with me.

Either is fine. Keychains and magnets are probably better since I shouldn't eat so much candy but I love candy so I'm good either way.

how would you feel about handmade baby accessories? (blankets and toys and such) Love them!

@zennabug - I'm celiac too! I was just diagnosed about two years ago now. I hear you about the candy thing, I keep disovering things I've been eating that I thought were gluten free and are actually not! :P We should make a celiac pony club. :D

oh, and on another note, I got my pony painted today! I'm not brave enough to tackle a full body repaint, mind you, and I kept Hasbro eyes too (is that ok?) but I got my symbol painted today and I am super thrilled with how it turned out! (I surprised myself with my painting skills). Now I just am waiting on hair to arrive!

*hoofbump*  ;)  I've only been GF since September.  I miss bread and such, but it's amazing how much better I feel after 24 years of assuming that daily stomach aches were totally normal.  I know of a couple other Celiac members and lots more who are GF just because they feel better.  :)

I do love me some poofy hair! (I just recently did it on a custom and couldn't stop petting her >.< )

Do you mind a full body repaint?
They don't bother me.  Let's face it, Hasbro just doesn't make enough ponies of certain colors.... *ahem green*

For the extras: would you like keychains and magnets or rather candy?
I love candy so much, but it's become a bit of a problem lately...  I still love little tidbits like keychains and magnets though!

non-edibles are good if you feel like including extras. Trying to be good.

Have you tried Udi's brand GF bread? That's my favorite. It's best if you toast it of course (as with most GF bread), but I was super happy when I found them and could have sandwiches again! I've also been told Pamela's makes a GF bread mix that is super easy to make and super yummy.

Wow, you are FAST!  I'm waiting on my hair in the mail and for my bait.  But I have everything else.

I would NEVER object to twins, if you felt so inspired.  :)  But I'm only expecting the one pony, so won't be upset if I get one and others get a set.  As long as my partner tries her best and has fun, that's all I could ever ask.

Oh yes, I also would definitely not expect twins! One baby pony is totally awesome with me.

I was also thinking about the extras thing, and if my partner felt so inclined to need to include extras, I would actually prefer baby pony accessories (handmade or hasbro) instead of any candy or keychains or whatever. But not getting any extras is also groovy with me. I am totally looking forward to seeing the baby pony my partner creates!

That makes enough sense to me and explains why earth parents sometimes have peg or uni babies.  :P  You can always assume one parent is a carrier for the recessive gene... so there's still a 50/50 chance of being earth or peg/uni.  *loves genetics*
Title: Re: Stork swap - partners sent. Start working!
Post by: PandaBerryInSpace on January 03, 2013, 05:23:17 PM
Really? Uni/peg is recessive? I always imagined it to be dominant. Unless the parents are a pegasus and a unicorn, in which case, it's a 50/50 chance. But paired with an Earth pony, the baby always inherits the wings/horn in my headcanon.

(That being said, I'm pairing a pegasus and Earth pony for the pony I'm making, and it's going to have wings. BD)

Twins are ok with me too, but that doesn't mean I have to have them :)  I'm just happy that I get to take part in another custom swap :)

As far as genetics, I always thought of the Peg and Uni traits to be dominant as well, but now that I think about it, the other way makes more sense... In my mind anyway.  Really though, I don't have much of a preference :P

I started making some accessories last night, since I'm waiting for my hair to come in the mail, and my project totally failed! It's good though, because now I know how to do it right. ;) Can't wait for my hair to come!

Ooh, I do have a hairing question for all you expert customizers in this swap. I was hairing a non-swap pony yesterday, and I know I've heard from several places to use the little strands that dollyhair kind of naturally sepparates into for each plug, and they do look the right size but then when I put them all in the mane just seems on the thin side (I felt like this happned with the other pony I've rehaired as well and ended up using about two little strands together so it would be thicker). Is there a trick to knowing how much hair to put in each plug? Or does the hair just fluff up when it gets washed and styled after everything is in there and really those itty strands are enough? I haven't glued her in yet, so I could take it all out and redo it if I needed to. Plus I'm waiting on one more color to finish her up, but I'd love to get some input from you lovely customizers! I want to make sure I do my swap pony right! Thanks!

your opinions on genetics for mixing a glitter symbol with a non glittery symbol.

would it be weird to do part of the symbol with glitter and part non glitter?
should glitter be left out all together or all of it in glitter? (which do you think would genetically win be more likely)

what about partial metallic symbol with non metallic parts?

I've actually done a symbol that had mostly normal paint except for two parts that were glittery and metallic, and I can say... Yes, it is very strange, but I wouldn't mind it, especially if it played into the overall design. C:

When it comes to reharing it's all down to you. It's just instinct when making plugs. I personally tend to do mine a little thicker than the natural separation of the hair because I like a fuller mane =D

To be honest, the way I reroot, I can't make plugs terribly thick. Thinness used to be a huge problem for me, so to rectify it, I started adding an extra row of hair in between the two original rows. It seems to work pretty well!

I'm not opposed to mixing glitter, metallic, and normal paints.  I think it could look really cool if done right! :)  As far as genetics go, I would treat the glitter trait like we talked about for the pegasus and unicorn trait: it's the recessive one.  It's really up to you though :)

yay, my baits are ordered and i´ll get them on monday, i got the concept and haircolors already too. ^^

handmade accersoires and twins sound great! but don´t overwork yourself, i´m just expecting one baby. ;)

mixing glitter and non is fine too, but maybe not one half with and one without but specific parts in glitter. (for example glittering petals on a normal flower?)  but i guess i didn´t mention ponies with glittery symbol anyway. XD

about the unicorn/peg/earth genetics, use which bait fits you the best! you are the designer!  :frolic:

next question:

is there a specific haircolor/hairkind you absolutely love?
(like for pink -> "old bubblegum", "tea rose" or "anything saran" or such? i just have nylon on hand, but could probably get some other kinds from a friend)

is there a specific haircolor/hairkind you absolutely love? pussycat pink and nylon are my favorites, but I'm really not particular. Use whatever. I'm good!

As for all the "genetics" questions, I don't care. Do whatever you think looks best and I'm sure I'll love it.

I'm generally fine with all hair colors, though, I am very fond of Delta synthetic from RetroDolls. I of course love nylon, but I also love saran, kanekalon (both human and doll grade), polypropylene, and synthetic. I've never encountered acetate, nylatex, or natural fibers before, so if you have an idea that somehow involves one of those, feel free to try it! The only things I'm not fond of are monofiber, Dollar Tree extensions, cheap wig hair, and yarn/embroidery floss. (Though, puffy yarn brushed out like a Perfume Puff is fine!)

Thanks!

What gen is it? I usually do 2 'clumps' per hole for most ponies, I do add rows or more holes to a row sometimes (I love thick hair). Although babies don't normally have  super thick hair so I wouldn't worry about it this time around. I also noticed that some hair colors/types just look thicker. Like some of the pinks and whites look really thin even when they are put in at the same thickness. Like RJ said, it's up to you to play with it. It's more of an art than a science for sure ;)

oh, and i nearly missed a question:
would you mind a hairblend or would you prefer one color as one color?

this is an example:
i would blend a few similiar looking colors to make it look more natural and streaky, like here:
http://imageshack.us/a/img12/2986/bild82.png (http://imageshack.us/a/img12/2986/bild82.png)
http://imageshack.us/a/img819/6256/bild81.png
on the laying pony, there is hematite, black magic and pacific ocean in the blackish part and unlucky clover, mermaid, daquari ice and atomic turquoise in the cyanish part.

if you would like such a blend, would you prefer subtle or stronger, like on the grey mare on the left on the pictures?

For pink, I adore pussycat.  I like nylon a lot, but you could use whatever hair you wanted and I'd be ok with it.

Hair blends are pretty, that would be fun.  :)  Again, up to you.

Whichever works best with your plans.

Seems like I'm on the same page as Zennabug.  I'm a big fan of nylon, but I don't mind other kinds as well.  As I said before, I like poofy hair too :)
Hair blends are good, and really, whatever you think is best for the pony is good with me :)

Started tonight (I was away from my customizing materials before).  Did some sculpting and sanding.  If you saw the thread I made earlier, you know that sanding is now my least favorite part of customizing. :P

Is there a specific hair color/hair type you absolutely love?
I'm a fan of nylon hair due to its softness, but it's the only hair I've ever customized with so I don't know much about the textures of the others.  As for color, I'm down with almost anything.

I was trying a G4, and it is light yellow hair, so maybe that's why. I was worried about splitting the plastic, but now that I hear so many of you do thicker plugs I think I'll be braver at trying that!

As for the hair questions: I've only every felt nylon and monofiber (both of which I love), but I'd be happy with whatever hair kind my partner wanted to use! I love blends, too, so I'd be happy with any kind of blended hair.

I couldn't decide on a bait, so I airbrushed 3. Let's see which one I use.

Question: if both parents have straight hair, is it still ok to give the baby curls?
Title: Re: Stork swap - partners sent. Start working!

hm, i think different twins are cooler because they show more possibillities XD considering to make twins now
too. ;) and the hair is blended :D the best in custom making.

and curls, why not? it can be a reccersive gene or just the style the kid likes.

I guess these questions are just free-for-alls, right?  (Would it be "frees-for-all?" Confounded English language...)

Twins:  I prefer fraternal.  The more variety, the better.
Curly Hair:  Seems fine to me.  I agree with the idea of recessive genes and pure choice. :)
Airbrush:  I think I'd be cool with it.  I wouldn't know for sure since I've never come into direct contact with an airbrushed pony; I've always wondered how the paint looks and feels compared to full-body repaints...

I finished rehairing my baby today! Woot woot! I still need to put some glue in the head but I'm terrified it will leak out into the hair. What kind of glue do you use to hold the mane in? I've heard fabritac is the best, but I don't have any - I've got modge podge, liquid glass, and varnish. Hmmm... maybe I'll have to make a trip to the craft store.

Questions:

I think any kind of twins are cute, though I guess some little difference, even if tiny, would be nice to know them apart (after all, even human identical twins have little differences).

I love curls!

I wouldn't mind getting an airbrushed pony! I've seen several done on the arena and they always look fabulous. I'm probably not going to attempt a full body repaint unless I have an airbrush, since I'm a perfectionist on my own work and any streaking or brush marks would drive me crazy!

I had a similar question to the curls, I was wondering if you like your customs to come with their hair styled or not? Wet-set style, permanant styles (like boil curls and such), or just straight so you can style it yourself?

Title: Re: Stork swap - partners sent. Start working!

Title: Re: Stork swap - partners sent. Start working!
Post by: kaoskat on January 09, 2013, 07:28:26 AM
Airbrushing - fine
curls - fine
Style or no style - either is fine, but I don't restyle, I don't like changing other's art, so if you want the pony styled, you should probably do it, but I'm happy either way
Title: Re: Stork swap - partners sent. Start working!

Styled Hair:  Most of the customs I make keep straight hair because it makes for easy brushing and less work for me! XD  But I will curl if my partner requests it.  As for receiving curls, I'd be cool with that.  No doubt they'd come out better than mine do!

I like twins you can tell apart.. Some G1 babies are so close looking that I'm surprised anyone can tell them apart. Same colored hair and body but different symbols would be okay.

I don't style customs, but if you want to style it, go ahead! :)

I got my bait today. I'm soaking her in some Oxyclean right now, and I hope to start sculpting soon! :)

Post Merge: January 09, 2013, 02:50:16 PM

I'm finished sculpting... However, I have a question for my partner.

I used a BBE pony as my bait. I removed the rusty eyes, and I filled up the eye holes with Sculpey. It looks good now, but I don't have any actual eye molding. It's just flat.

My question is, should I paint the eyes as close to the original as possible, or would you mind if I did an alternate expression like sleeping eyes or winking? I think it would be interesting, but I don't want to do something like that if you won't like it! :O

Sure!  :)  Heck, my parents have straight hair and I was born with curls, even though they eventually disappeared.  It could happen.  ;)

Would you object to an airbrushed pony?
Not at all!

I'm fidgeting with my designs now, to work out the twins.  So many possibilities!  I think I might even do two different ages, one regular baby and one newborn.

I think I'm finally going to be done with my baby! I made several accessories and I'm very happy with how things turned out! :D

So I attempted to boil curl my baby's hair, but I was so nervous about boiling off her symbol that I didn't dip her in all the way and not for very long... Does anyone have tricks or tips for giving customs permanant curls? Would it be better to boil curl before all the painting? Or is there a trick to doing hair after they are all painted up?
Title: Re: Stork swap - partners sent. Start working!
Post by: ApertureScience on January 14, 2013, 10:45:10 PM
I usually have mine all painted up and sealed before I do any of the boil perming.  The steam from the water could disrupt the waterbase sealants like Mod Podge, but it's usually nothing that can't be solved with gentle handling and letting it dry back.  If you're still unsure, you can give it another coat of sealant after it dries.
I've done this a couple times before and never had any issues, but I'm not the most experienced customizer either, so maybe I've been doing a disservice this whole time. :/

i wondered, if we all finish before the actual shipping date, would it be possible to ship earlier?

and i agree with aperture, thats how i work too. ^^just avoid something with pressure arround your pony while drying. i had a hairband around a ponies head to fix the fringe and now you can slightly see it in the sealant. if you are very close and have the right light, but still.

I usually hold my ponies hair in place with toilet roll (LOL) when it's completely dry it can simply be peeled away and gently wipe the bits that get stuck off with a baby wipe :)

But at least the ponies are looking quite cute :D

Maybe the adapter company is conspiring with the air brush and compressor companies so that none of them match and we all have to buy adapters!

I'm debating doing another baby, since the hair for my other swap custom is still not here. But here's a question for my partner, how would you feel about two babies from two different pairs?

I rehaired a second baby yesterday. I had just enough hair of the right color. I decided to try to rehair first (since I'm not doing a FBR) and then paint after I style her hair so I don't have to worry about boiling off my hard paintwork.

I really hate that I can't work faster.  Others are moving on to a second or third baby and I'm still stuck on one...  Wretched schoolwork, quit getting in my way! >_<

No worries, still plenty of time. One baby is all that's required, anything else is considered extras.

Yes, it does, galactica! XD did you try to wet it? you can tame it a lot more easier then!
my baby probably gets a little hobby with mini-tools, i try myself for doll miniatures as soon as i find time. ^^

dear partner, would there be anything you especially like in re-ment/dollminiatures?
and how about an animal sidekick? any animals you prefer? (slow/fast, Air/water ,...)

annd of course, i wouldn´t object to another sibling, cousin, neighbour,.. but just if my partner has the time to! one baby is perfectly fine too! ^^

Scrapping the two baby idea for now, I just couldn't come up with pair designs that I liked!  I think I'm going to just put all my effort into the baby and then make some cute little accessories.  :)  I have some scraps of fabric that have lots of potential...

Would there be anything you especially like in re-ment/doll miniatures?
Anything that goes well with the baby is fine by me.  :)

How about an animal sidekick? Any animals you prefer?
That would be super cute!  I love all animals so again, anything that fits the baby.  I am rather fond of dogs especially...  :)

Yes.....And no.....I mean I'd love them but have nothing in particular in mind, so anything is good!

How about an animal sidekick? Any animals you prefer?
Certainly! Hamsters. Or Guinea Pigs. Or puppies. Or anything that works with the baby really.

dear partner, would there be anything you especially like in re-ment/dollminiatures? I love and collect anything miniature for photoshoots (yesterday I bought some mini musical instruments and a bird cage :D) I keep them in theme bags like 'fall', 'school', 'food', 'sports', etc , so anything is fine.

and how about an animal sidekick? any animals you prefer? if you'd like :) I love foxes, wolves, dogs, but I find most ponies have a specific animal that kind of 'goes' with them, so whatever you want :)

I wouldn't object to another baby or adoptee, but one baby is perfectly fine too! :) No expectations here, just anxious pony parents ;) (And I posted one of the sets of parents I described in my list of potential parents in a thread named 'My g4 fix...', Twilight Sky and Luna, just in case you chose them :) )

Did we already ask about extras? I got my rehairing done :D YAY! Now, while I work on extra accessories I am thinking about extras like candy/snackies/little collectible things. What do you like to get?

Now, while I work on extra accessories I am thinking about extras like candy/snackies/little collectible things. What do you like to get?

When it comes to food, I do have one big dietary restriction.  I have Celiac's, so I can't eat anything with gluten in it or I experience really awful intestinal stomach pain.  :(  Most candies are still safe enough, just avoid stuff with cookies for the most part.  I don't like dark chocolate, but I love milk chocolate.  :)

For little collectible things, I like anything that's cute.  :D  Any little doll accessories might be distributed to my dolls, lol.

I'm good with anything. I do prefer dark chocolate as far as chocolates go though. But really I'm not too picky about extras. I love anything. And if it's a candy I don't like, hubby usually does and then I get to share, so I'm good either way.

Re-ment/dollminiatures:  Whatever works for the custom is fine. :)
Animal Sidekick:  Again, whatever works for the custom.  I'll admit though, I have a soft spot for cats. ;)
Extras:  I'm not picky about extras either.  I like chocolate and stickers, and Original Gourmet lollipops (my ultimate weakness).

Remind me to never do full-body repaints in yellow ever again.  This is a nightmare...

To my partner:  I'm almost 100% positive that you will not like this custom.  I don't have time to start over, but when the swap is over and there is no deadline to meet, I would be happy to make you a better one if you so desire...

Aww ApertureScience, that's too bad.  My very first custom had an FBR in yellow and I think it took like 40 coats before I was happy with the result.  It's a tough color.

White paint is hell!  I recently did a full-body reprint of a G3 styling pony in white and it took forever!  But it turned out better than this crappy yellow one...

Edit:  I just found the coolest thing!  I know I said I couldn't start over but after picking it up and examing it closely under light, I was just like, "**** it!  I have to do something at least!"  So I went over to the sink with cotton balls and acetone and tried to remove the paint.  The acetone didn't remove all of the paint but did greatly smooth out the problem areas!  It's still not prefect and my offer for a new one still stands, but it's looking quite a bit better now! :D

Guess I stopped receiving e-mail updates on this thread!! Luckily I had checked in before that.

Glittered up my second baby pony. It turned out good I think! So that makes me all done! I just need to take a pic of both of the babies together.

Oh, and I forgot about extras. How many extras do people usually put in for custom swaps?
I don't expect extras, but if my partner feels so inclined I always enjoy pony stickers or anything sparkly or glittery or chocolate (faves being Dove dark chocolates). I also enjoy peach/melon rings and starbursts.
I also have Celiac so nothing with gluten in it (which means no wheat, barley, malt, or oats)

I'm open to just about anything for extras.  If you're sending food, just make sure that it's gluten-free or I'll just have to pass it to my hubby.  I don't like sour stuff, licorice, or dark chocolate.  Just about anything else is great though!

And if you don't have time or money for extras, that's ok too.

Today I decided that my pony was unbearably hideous, so this evening I risked redoing her FBR and eyes. And I think it helped quite a bit. Tomorrow, after she's better dried, I may attempt to change her hair colors slightly, but it may not be necessary, since her new body shade doesn't clash with it as much as before. Tomorrow I'll also reseal and probably start painting her symbol. She'll still be done by the final shipping date.

...did I mention that I hate painting eyelashes? :silly:

Just have to finish up the extra.  It's taking almost as long as the pony!  XD  Then I'll get cute pics.  I should have time to finish it all tomorrow and then get it mailed asap.

OMG I FINISHED MY EXTRA!!!!!

*ahem* I literally just finished. It took about TWICE as long as the custom did actually. About 22 hours of work, spread out over the last week. I had no idea it would take so darn long lol. But it looks awesome. It's like 1am and I have jury duty in the morning, but I'm gonna take pics and PM then before I hit the sack.

:faint:

Didn't get called for jury duty, about to head to the PO!  :)  I may have gone a little overboard with the tape on my box, but it's about as waterproof as a box can be!  XD

I also took a couple more pics this morning with natural light, since the ones I took in my bathroom last night weren't all that good.

Shipped it out.

Story time:  went to UPS first because it was closest, asked for delivery confirmation and tracking, final price was $101.61. I was expecting it to be a bit more than USPS, but that nearly floored me!  So, went to USPS, waited in line, got it out for much, much less. :P

That is so sad, Aperture :( I know how you feel. I liked my swap stuff well enough for me, but I am super nervous about my partner liking it. It didn't come out as well as I had planned :/ I hope my partner doesn't mind hair bows... I got a bit carried away. But they were so pretty and cute  :lookround:

Mine says it was delivered.. OPEN IT.. I'm really worried you also won't like them.. I didn't know outdoor paint wasn't as smooth as regular till it was already on and I couldn't get it off. So I'm not proud of the eyes and it is the first time I used gloss which I didn't know showed flaws even more :(

PS (I forgot to put my note in with mine.)

They may smell like bacon smoke, it should go away after a while. My boyfriend made bacon knowing full well my ponies were in the dining room. And the heads should turn but the glue for the hair wasn't dry so it may have dripped to the neck plug :(  and I shouldn't play with scissors and hair ever again.. mine were dull and I couldn't get the ends straight. Feel free to cut style as desired.

You could seriously sell bacon-scented ponies.  :bacon: :bacon: :bacon: :bacon:

Also, it wasn't your scissors' fault. My scissors are sharp and I can't cut synthetic hair decently. XD

Hi again everyone!  I want to apologize for my silence throughout the latter half of this swap and how much of a pain I was to Hannaliten...
I knew I would be going through a move during the middle of the swap, but I didn't think things would get so out of hand like they did!  The actual move took MUCH longer than expected and then getting utilities set up in a brand new neighborhood shouldn't have been as complicated as it was.  Long story short, things took way too long and I'm finally back on the arena :)
I also just found out (about a month ago now) that I'm pregnant with my first baby!!  :frolic:  I've been dealing with a lot of morning sickness and some crazy hormones that make me ball my eyes out at the drop of a hat, so that has also delayed my return.  But again, never-the-less, I am returning for good (hopefully for a while at least).
I'm sorry for all the stress with my lack of communication Hannaliten, and I hope we can enjoy a nice, stress free swap in the future!
Aednatia, I'm so glad you like your baby :)  She was a joy to make for you  :lovey:
I wait anxiously by the door every day for my baby, maybe today will be the day!

:hugs: welcome back, PaintedH :). COngrats on the pregnancy!! :D When are you due?

That's so sad, moving sucks in general. Hope you can get settled quickly, and don't worry, first trimester is horrible. It gets better :)

Thanks Salli :)  I'm due sometime between November 4th and 14th.  My first Dr.'s appointment is tomorrow so I'll have a little bit more of a definite date hopefully.

Congrats Paintedhooves on your baby! Stock up on saltines and ginger cookies, that's what gets me through my first trimester. :)
