First re-hair EVER...

After seeing the tutorial on rehairing using yarn, I had to give it a try!

I made a reroot tool with my exacto knife and an embroidery needle. Decapitating Pinky Pie was nerve racking but I like how it turned out.

I left the kinky texture in her hair and I REALLY like it... something about this hair reminds me of the 80's

I am so excited to have RE-HAIRED my first pony. Now to get the money to buy some doll hair, now that I am confident in the process.

Now Im upset that I left that pretty purple Pegasus at the flea market the other day because her hair was chopped off....

Did you just use one piece of yarn for each plug or more? I really want to try the yarn hair soon.
For my first re-hair I just bought the curly type for dolls from the craft store.

the particular yard I was using had 4 intertwined strands, So I unraveled them one by one and put two (little) strands in each hole.

What I did with my two rehairs with yarn was actually just cut the whole hair plug part out and insert large bits of yarn tied into a know inside. Sounds horrible, but works wonders ! xD No reroot tool, just your hands. Also, for the tail, I enlarged the whole by cutting a bit in the lower part. The hair falls on top of it, so you can't really see anything.

Sometime when I do this again I'll make a tutorial of it

If you can shove a lot of hair in, yes. Of course, you'll still need to be careful when combing or styling, but you can always glue the hair inside as you put it in. Haven't tried it yet as I don't really see the need in my case.
