As for the the other problem with the package from the other member (yumyum i believe?) I have 2 comments, it would be impossible to ship it to you after you left feedback and arrive the next day. So it must have been shipped before that - making that statement irrelevant.

Not only is it possible for mail to arrive the next day, it's what the Dutch mail service PROMISES to do. Tiny country, you know. In 95, maybe even up to 99% of the cases mail is delivered the next day after it was posted (excluding sunday and monday, there is no mail delivery at all).

Just wanted to clarify that point.

Good points have been made and unfortunately it is true there is stuff going on in the Dutch community. I myself was blocked by sweetbubbles because I tried to help out in the situation with yum yum. After that she tarnished my name by talking bad about me to her friends on FB, even though they didnt even know me. This is her MO, as I've seen it: block people she doesn't want to deal with, call in her friends to defend her. I've seen it multiple times. I'm not going to say I was without blame in the last discussion I had with/about her, because I was definitely annoyed, but I do have to say if there is a common name that keeps popping up in several drama's... Well. There might be something there.

I'm currently doing an MA in Art History, which is taking up most of my time!

Do you have a specific interest/period? I did Medieval Studies and minored in Religious Art, so interesting  ^.^

My thesis focuses on contemporary art photography by women (specifically depictions of girlhood and how it intersects with cinema). Outside of my thesis I love photography of most styles and the rest of the art I truly love is from the Modern era on (even post modern and contemporary). Definitely looked at some religious art in my undergrad though! :) Definitely interesting.

I love the topic of your thesis! Sounds super interesting :)

One of my favourite museums over here has a 'from Jesus to G-sus' exhibition. It's sooooo cool.

I also tutor several students: currently teaching Dutch, English, German, Latin and Greek.

Now, let's hear from you guys :) I hope you will share!

Woah, so many languages!  I'm jealous!

I'm a falconer! Our center does bird rehab and education as well. I love it

I'm such a language nerd, haha. Besides Dutch and English of course I've taken German and French in school and studied Latin, Greek, Old Irish and Middle Welsh. I'm crazy like that ;)

I looove your job too though! Sounds amazing, I didn't know that was still a profession (forgive my ignorance, it's just sounds so deliciously medieval!)

Very interesting to read, thank you guys!

Well honestly I can't give too much detail, but--

I work for the federal government in Washington, DC as an CPA/Accountant. I work between the Pentagon and another federal building.

Oooh sounds very intriguing, haha!

i'm a chef, a chauffeur, a nurse, a maid, a financial controller, a personal shopper, a mediator. i work full time, plus am on call 24/7... but best of all i'm a comfy lap to sit on. yep, i'm a mum!! pre kids i was a credit controller/debt collector, with a bit of accounts receivable too.

This is a very important, and BIG job!!

To those who are unemployed, I hope you find something soon! it's not easy at all right now but I am crossing my fingers it will get better for everyone!

Just curious! I realise not everyone can go into great detail, but I would love to know what you do in your daily life, since I think the lot of us here is a very diverse bunch with very different lives and I would like to hear about yours :)

I currently work two parttime jobs. I have two Masters degrees (Celtic Studies and Latin) but unfortunately there aren't a lot of job opportunities in those fields. I have to keep busy though and of course need money to live and buy ponies with, so  :P

First job is being a customer service manager for a big supermarket chain (comparable to Tesco's). I've worked for this particular store for a long time, I was a cashier there when I was a student and I love the customers. It's slightly boring, but pays well and I have lovely colleagues.

The second job I started in January of this year, and I am very happy I was able to find this. I coach highschool students that have learning difficulties like ADD, ADHD and dyslexia. I also tutor several students: currently teaching Dutch, English, German, Latin and Greek.

Now, let's hear from you guys :) I hope you will share!

Oh, how annoying! I mean, I don't like customs fees either but it's not the seller's fault, so I accept it if I buy something on eBay or here.

I have noticed I've only ever gotten customs fees when something was shipped Priority. When First Class International is used, it's faster and never goes through customs. Just a little tip maybe for others, I realise Priority is more protection for the seller also, so I get that argument for using it.

Pony Corral / Re: Why do you Collect and What do you Collect?
« on: September 18, 2013, 12:31:35 AM »
Interesting topic, very cool to read!

I collect for lots of reason . They bring me happy childhood memories. The thrill of the hunt. Finding them second hand is like finding a treasure waiting just for me to find. Cleaning them destresses me and helps pass time. I feel good when I make it look new again. They are fun to talk about with fellow collectors. I like taking pictures of them all cute to share online. They have so much to find that I have yet to see like in old merchandise so there is always something new to see and learn about.

Very well said, I agree with a lot of those! I started at first because I wanted to get some ponies I never got as a child for one reason or another (I am very lucky to still have all my childhood ponies, 60+) and then I got into the community and just really enjoyed talking to other collectors. I know quite a lot of  Dutch collectors from meetings we have here, and I've been to UK Ponycon four times now so I am also lucky to get to know people there, from all over Europe. For me, it's a fun hobby and quite social too!

For what I collect, I have ponies from all gens but currently only actively collect G1 en G4. G1 is the largest part and my favourites, for nostalgia reasons of course. In G1 I collect all sets I at least had one pony of when I was a child, and baby ponies because they are so cute :P In G4 I want one (brushable only!)pony of every character that is released, which is proving to be quite do-able and fun! So no doubles or variations for me. I don't know how long I will keep this up, I do appreciate a bit of a smaller collection honestly. We'll see!

Off Topic / Re: What's slang for euros?
« on: September 17, 2013, 01:40:54 PM »
We have a lot of slang words for money in general- doekoe, pecunia, poen, poet and loads more. Not specifically for euros. Some Dutch people say 'euri' though and that drives me MAD. I want to kill people who say that. Even worse is 'euri's' (basically, they try to conjugate it in Latin, but it's WRONG, and I'm a Latin teacher so yeah... annoys me).

Thanks Navi and gypsy!

The top layer was chocolate-caramel, second coffee-hazelnut and the first cream-strawberry. It was soooooo good.

Yes! :D

Minty is very important to us. My now husband gave me a plushie of her for our first anniversary, and it's still the best gift ever. To me it's a symbol how accepting he is of my collecting and crazy attachment to ponies ;)

He's around, but busy with school. I'll send him a text to let him know you're looking for him, hope that helps!

Our wedding cake was kind of subtle, but if you look closely you will see why it's relevant (and awesome ;))

I like February most because of her colour combo, and she's even my birth month ;) Coincedence. I like July and December too!

I just love me some Gusty, she was a childhood pony and loved her in both the comics and cartoon. Although I do love Dash too, Gusty is just slightly ahead of her!
