Oxiclean for old dingy white MLP plush?
« on: March 03, 2012, 01:49:14 PM »
I have an old MLP plush Starshine and she is very, very dingy.   I cleaned her years ago when I got her, but she still looks dirty.  Will Oxiclean help to whiten her up?  I am afraid to use bleach because of her symbol and hair.   If Oxiclean won't help, is there anything else I can try?
Thanks for any help!

Oxyclean might help a little, but sunfading might work better to whiten her up :)

Just an FYI, Oxy clean will remove the ink from the toosh tag, this happened to both my firefly plush. But it worked great for everything else, just wanted to let you know just in case it mattered ;)

Sunfading won't just discolor her more?   I just worry since I know a lot of items can get damaged by sitting in the direct sunlight.  eep!

Thanks for telling me about Oxy Clean removing the tag ink.  I'll have to think again about using it then.

I think if maybe you make it into more of a paste, & scrub it into her body with a toothbrush oor something, then rinse it would probably be ok. Wish I'd thought of that before   >_<

I missed the fact that you are talking about a plush :x Opps!

I would try using the oxyclean spray for laundry, and running her through the gentile cycle in the washing machine. If you have a rack for shoes in your dryer (it runs across the dryer so the items do not tumble), use that and put it on the lowest heat setting, check on her every 10 minutes until she is dry :)

Fabric whitener?   I don't know that I have heard of it.   Is that just what it is called?  It's not bleach, is it?
