Title: Um, help? Confused! Anyone speak French?
Post by: ClosetAvalanche on February 29, 2012, 11:43:05 AM
Long story short, I had to manualy address a package to France because Ebay was giving me a error about the address being too long. I sent an E-mail Monday, letting her know it was shipping that day. I just recieved a messege from her, and I'm a bit confused. She said she got it( in two days?) then it looks like she is saying she hasn't gotten it. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Uhhhhh. Definitely confusing! a_@ I'm pretty sure we have several French speaking members that drop into TS regularly. Hopefully one of them can help you out!

  Good Luck!!

I don't know what it is but packages to France get there super quick.  And I mean quick!  I always think it's a mistake when they leave feedback.

I have noticed in the past that sometimes First Class Mail customs numbers track the package all the way up to delivery.
Can you maybe check that with USPS to see what info it gives you?  And then you can determine what exactly she means.

Because it sounds to me like she ordered several things and something is missing.  And since you manual did it maybe you did not add that customs number to the other item.  So she wrote since you did not mark it shipped that maybe you forgot to send it.

Just my thoughts on what info is given here so far. :)

It does sound like she is asking about an item being missing - did you sell her a lot or a group of things?  She may have you confused with another seller if you didn't.  Hmm... if you post the original French, there are several people here who could translate!  Hope you can get things figured out.

Yes, I would agree with others I would take that as reading that she has the parcel but expected X amount of items but got Y...

Although as others have said maybe a French speaker will be able to clarify for you

But 2 days from US to France....just wow! for shipping...

Thats some fast international shipping! :faint:   (think the fastest for me was 3 days from US to Uk so that beats my record :P  )
It does sound as though she has the parcel already , and there was an item missing from there.  It would be helpful if a French Speaker could clarify this, and also maybe help you to send a reply to ask her which item was missing from the package. I am not fluent in French unfortunately, but I am giving this a :bump: for you and hopefully someone will be along to help soon :awake:
Please let us know how it goes with your buyer  :)

Sorry I didn't update this sooner. It was for a set of pony wear, one auction. I sent her a reply and she asked if it was on the way, I replied yes, and she said okay, thanks. So I guess we'll see what happens XD

I *think* what happened was they used a translator, and so it got a little scrambled, and email got translated to mail which got translated to parcel?  I looked up the word apperçue and it means perceived, so here's what I think they meant:
Quote
Hello, I received your email, thank you for the fast reply, I have not received the package, I'm sending you this message because I see that you have not marked it as sent, tell me you are still sending it?

Does that make more sense?  I work in a travel center that gets a lot of tour buses, so even though I don't know French, I have practice at deciphering what people actually *want* from what translators say, the things are insane!

(just for giggles, did you know if you tell google translate to turn 'send the ponies' to Arabic, then translate it back to English, suddenly you are talking about sending a dowry?)

Thanks lunar scythe, that makes sense and from our recent communication, that seems to be the case.

A pony dowry, lol. That makes sense to me. Women from different countires often come with dowries, or assets which I guess would include horse and livestock. Interesting :D

That sounds about right with the online translator :P I'm glad it seems to be sorted out with your buyer now :)
