Minor goal in life achieved

Ever since I got back into collecting like 5 years ago, I have been dreaming of a birthday cake that is themed MLP. Perhaps it's my inner child speaking up about the lack of cake had in the past? Don't know but now the time has come, the time for cheer and festivity. On my 22nd birthday I had this giant cake of amazingness:

Ever since I got into being a pastry chef apprentice I have had the luxury of doing my own things at work, so when my birthday came around a couple of weeks ago I requested my supervisor which is also my mom to do a pony cake. My aunt had already decided the filling (vanilla mousse with fresh strawberries) but I had the choice of the exterior, so here's the dream castle and mimic on top, loosely referencing the golden horse shoes episode.

That's great! I can pipe like crazy, but fondant doesn't get along with me. My daughter had a pony cake for her third birthday. I piped in grass and put Apple bloom, scootaloo, and sweetie belle on it. Now I want a pony cake!

We don't do fondant, I use marzipan for sculpting. I've yet to master piping in that sense, but I can pipe whipped cream - which reminds me that I should probably finish my decoden project.

I wouldn't be able to eat Mimic!! I'd keep her forever and ever in a glass display case until she shriveled up into dust. Then I'd collect the dust and store it in a tiny lil pony urn.. then I'd pay homage to said urn day and night while the bells chimed on the hour to honor her memory... and then...

 


... I forgot where I was going with that but it's definitely a stellar cake! That's really cool you can create art like that you can eat... except that I'd never be able to eat Mimic... in fact, I'd save her forever and ever... -echoes repeatedly throughout time-

Nice cake! I had a pony cake too when I turned 23.  I had a bakery in a nearby city do it. I was never really much for character or theme cakes even when I was little, so I don't know why I was so dead-set on one then, but it turned out nicely.

My sister bakes and makes her own fondant. I've had so many beautiful multi layer cakes but never s pony one yet.
