Where a strike is a gutterball and a gutterball is a strike.  The rest are determined by what you knock down: Knock down 3, you get 8 for a score. Knock over 9 you get 1 for a score. Of course then your score is actually mirrored. A score of 20 comes up as a score of 2.

Of course as you score, it'll be mirrored so that lovely 10 will go to 1.
