Pony Corral / Re: Would it sell? Pony concepts meet reality.

I wish they came back. I loved the winter-themed ponies, and the valentine ponies too. They came with adorable pony wear too.

My very intelligent friend just got rejected for the student council because "they already had a blonde girl".

I think it could work. I would love to see that. But maybe not just lolita ponies, maybe just japanese street fashion in general. That would speak to a wider audience. And not all adult pony collecters are super crazy about pink, or the pastels that companies like Angelic Pretty work with. But Hasbro is never going to do that, since their ponies aren't really fashion dolls to begin with. So that would require a whole new series, or maybe a spinoff of Equestria Girls.
hmmm. I wouldn’t mind a J-street fashion pony Collab or whole spinoff line. Of course I think it would be better aimed at older folk and collectors.
I get that not everyone is a fan of pink and frills that one might assume is all to Lolita at first glance, but the fashion style comes in every color under the rainbow. There’s gothic Lolita, which offers a more dark color pallet, there’s mori which work with more muted, earthy tones. There’s Punk, Pirate, and Military Lolita and even guro Lolita that focuses on a Creepy horror aspect. So it’s definitely not kawaii pink glitter kawaii fluff.

Oh my, I love that idea! Guro lolita ponies for Halloween. A Mori pony with a cottage playset. Fairy Kei newborn baby ponies.... I see some opportunities here.

Yeah, that has happened to me before. Track & Trace said it was delivered, but I never got anything.

Also, I live in a flat with pretty small mail boxes. I can't tell you how many times I've walked downstairs just to see a package sticking out of my mailbox because it couldn't fit! Many times when I open it up, the product inside was broken or crumpled. Because of this, any time I order something online, I just opt for a pick-up point instead. Unfortunately I couldn't do that during lockdown, so guess who has a crumpled, brand-new paperback novel....

Pony Corral / Re: Pony symbols and cutie marks in the future

...It's all very well saying girls can be empowered by fashion, and it's absolutely true. But then again, why are they choosing to empower Rarity with fashion? Is it because she's a girl, and that's 'something girls like'?

Really? I never thought about it like that at all. I always saw G4 Rarity as creative and artistic. Making fashions like Rarity does is a rather high-skill level thing, and personally I thought FiM really celebrated that. Yes, it's "girly", and they could have literally make her good at anything else, but at the same time - why not? I truly get your issue with that idea though, but I don't think everyone looks at it trough the same lens (I think that's an English proverb, but I could be mixing languages up, sorry in advance).

I think it depends on how the toyline and the show are going to be. Realistically, Hasbro already has the term "cutie mark" and they will probably continue with that.

But as we know, this reincarnation is going to be with an entirely new cast set in an entirely new world. So, maybe the writers of the show have their own ideas about what cutie marks/symbols can mean, and they might rename them. You can definitely do a lot more with them than Hasbro has been.

I love Trickles the most (surprise, surprise). She's lovely, and caring and a little mysterious. Confetti is pretty up there too though. But overall I think all the rainbow ponies look like a happy bunch.  :)

Skik - 't Giet Zoas 't Giet

Spoiler
Why am I listening to this? I thought this band was ancient history for me... :lookround:

Oh my.... this is one of the songs my father makes my baby brother dance to in his crib! What a funny coincidence to see it posted here, haha!

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: Funko Pops - who else is done with them?
« on: September 17, 2020, 08:52:45 AM »
I used to collect only the vocaloid figurines when they came out, but I have done nothing with Funkos ever since. I gave the few I had away - I prefer collecting things with a bit more detail.
I thought they were pretty irrelevant by now, but now I have a new housemate that actually does collect Funkos, and pretty seriously too. I think she has over 150 in her room.

She explained to me that collecting Funkos is pretty big internationally for students, and that does make sense. A Funko pop is a lot less expensive than any kind of handcrafted thing, or very detailed anime figurine. They are also pretty accessible. Even in The Netherlands here, you can find them pretty much at any serious toy store. And even though I'm not too big on them, there are a few limited-edition Funkos that even I have to admit look pretty good. They don't have that dead-eye look that scares me that most Funkos have. I guess it all just comes down to taste and convenience.

Introductions / New collector from Europe!
« on: September 06, 2020, 02:52:01 AM »
Hello Everyone!

I am Emillia, a new pony collector from The Netherlands.
I am 21 years old and in my day-to-day life I am a student majoring in theatre and education. I was born in 1999 and grew up playing with G3 ponies, but I am very familiar with the 80's show because I used to watch that on VHS. Because of that, I am fascinated by the ponies that were made before I was born!

My first G1 pony was Trickles. She is so cute! I love the rainbow ponies. I also really love the twice as fancy ponies, and of course the flutter ponies! I would like to try to make my own flutter wings some time.

Aside from ponies, I am also a really big Miffy collector. I am excited to meet more pony collectors on here! I still have a lot to learn, but so far I have felt welcome in the pony world! :)
