Weird red mark on my neck..

Ok, so for a little over a week now, I've had this red mark on my neck. It kinda just seemed to come out of nowhere. It was smaller and lighter at first but I noticed that within the last few days it's gotten a little larger and darker. It doesn't feel lumpy or bumpy, still just feels like part of my normal skin. However, it does get really itchy. My mom got this cream for me for Christmas (for my dry and peeling skin under my eyes  ) so I was thinking I might put a little on the spot every night.

Does anyone have any ideas at all what it could be? I do go to the Dermatologist on January 20th so I will ask then, but for now I wanted to get some other opinions.

Is it slightly raised but not a bump? Is that the only one or are there others?

I had that on my legs one year--it was exemia if memory recalls.

I still have a super dry red itchy patch on my ankle but with a bit of cream the rest of it went away once the season changed.

Hmm what's Exemia? And no, I don't believe it's slightly raised either. It's only on my neck, no where else.

If it were me I'd put some hydrocortizone cream on it and definitely ask the doctor about it when you go.

I guess maybe that could be it. It doesn't really feel dry though.

Bug bites are usually bumpy I think and itch a lot more than this does. And I'm pretty sure it's not a pimple. I don't usually get pimples per se. Unfortunately for me I get what is known as cystic acne, but only on my face.

I used that a couple of times but it didn's seem to do much. I stopped using it when my mom got me that special cream for Christmas. I will definitely ask my Dermatologist when I go though. She should know for sure.

Sorry for the misspell, it was awhile ago.

I have no idea how it happened.  May be weather related?  Is it dry or cold or windy where you are?

Eczema isn't always dry feeling per se. It can be bright red though. Is it worse when you get it wet?
(Also you have a red shirt on in that pic so your camera will make it look redder.)

My wife occasionally gets a spot like that on her tummy or neck - sometimes thigh.  They are itchy and look just like that.
It only seems to happen when she is being exposed to something she is allergic to. It can be tricky figuring out what that may be. So far we have discovered that the following ignite those spots
1) Dryer sheets
2) polyester (although I suspect the dye being used in them rather than the polyester itself)
3) Cat hair (specifically, our big red male cat has itchy hairs)

You might want to talk to your dermatologist if it is annoying- he or she will give you a topical cortisone cream and may have some helpful suggestions.

There are a number of things that could be. I think only your dermatologist will be able to give you a definite answer. I get similar things on my neck sometimes. It could be a strange bug bite, acne, some sort of cyst that your body created when it came in contact with something it didn't like, or many other things. Lets just hope it isn't shingles. I asked my doctor about a rash on my back (I am allergic to everything so I get rashes a lot) and for a moment she said she was checking to see if it could be shingles. Thank god it wasn't -- getting shingles is one of my biggest fears (just because I don't like icky skin conditions).

When you said it was a strange red mark, my first thought was Ringworm. But it doesn't really look like that. Just be careful trying different creams on it, I know that with some infections (like Ringworm) if you use the wrong thing, it can actually make it grow faster. Come back and update us, I'm curious what it is.
