Title: Pinkie's Crazy Train! tracks question!
Post by: cesprins on February 25, 2012, 05:38:37 PM
I was wondering if anyone saw just the tracks for pinkie's train anywhere on taobao? I'd like to make a longer track for the train. (Or if you don't want the tracks for your set, I'd happily buy them off you!) Or, if anyone had any toy train tracks they've used that fit the pinkie train, that'd be helpful.

I welcome picture sharing! Show me what you've done with your pinkie train! :)

Hehe, I'm strongly, STRONGLY tempted to wait until the train set goes on sale, and buy it for the tracks... :yikes: I WANT A MONSTER PONY TRAIN SET SO BAD!

Yeah, they should have add on tracks.. on another pony site somebody pointed out that the train, as shown on the tracks in a stock image, would crash into itself

Yeah, I'm testing out two toy tracks I have in the basement to see if they work with pinkie's train.

Ever since I was a little girl I had a vision of a my little pony room with a carousel for the ponies, a giant castle, and a train running around my room. So I was super excited when the g4 line released both of those! Like a dream come true, now if only I can get a long track line.....

I might do that too. haha

Oh, me too!  I even emailed the Hasbro Toy store asking if they would be releasing  more track separatly or maybe even with the extra train cars.  I pretty much got a "We don't know" response.

I have my train set up in this display

I was hoping for extra track as well.  My train won't pull the two extra cars as it is, though.  It keeps getting stuck.  It's like no one tested it.  Did anyone else have that problem?

Oh really? That's disappointing, I wanted to get the two cars, and one extra fluttershy one.

I haven't found the cars yet.  I've been stalking a number of local stores waiting for them to come in.

I think it stinks that they are skimping on giving little girls track. I've seen boy train sets have a lot more track that this.

I noticed that Lalaloopsie has a train set that is almost the same size but I don't know if that dollset train comes with track or not. I wonder 'if' the loppsie dolls do have track with they're train, if the track might possibly work together. I also wondered if maybe some other toy train tracks would work with it...maybe like Thomas the train tracks, maybe we could just find another toy set track that would work.

I saw that too! I thought the LLL train was super cute!!

I tried two tracks and both were too skinny. One was a christmas train set, and the other one was red tracks that I think went with a sesame street set. Not sure, it was from my childhood. It might be a problem to find other toy tracks that fit for the pinkie train because it's so wide.

I've already bought THREE trains, one to customize, and also just for the extra track. :D The  configurations are SO fun. But they need to do different shapes, because of the way they did the track shapes, once you pass two sets, it's very easy to get into track configurations that get into infinite loops that miss the REST of the awesome track config. You should SEE some of the fun we've spread out on the living room floor!!! OMG. Its amazing.

Guys we really, really need pics!!!

How many carriages and stuff are there? I keep seeing individual items in the shops, but never in the same place at the same time lol

The track comes with an engine and little flat carriage then you can buy two other full carriages.  Those fit on the track together.  I accidentally put the train on one of the bends but they only go round them one way so it's easier to put it on the straight bit in the middle to start it off.  Perhaps everyone going to pony meets should bring their track for a super massive train track!

I SO want to buy the train yet!  I also want the carousel.  I think my next purchase will be the carousel, and then the train (and cars... gotta get the cars).  I love the idea behind them... now if only we could buy extra track.  Maybe they'll have it so you can buy individual pieces from the website like they had for pieces of the different castles?

Hopefully Hasbro will make other track pieces to buy. I bought the train half price during a one day MLP/LPS sale at the Fredmeyer down my street. I was laughing so hard though because my cat was freaking out when I started it up on the coffee table! He'd reach a paw out to hover at the edge of the track and then back away real quick whenever the train headed his way. It was hilarious.

Here's ours in action. I hope hasbro makes more track available, maybe as "replacement parts"?? Emailed them asking about it...

Omg thank you for sharing the video! That is soooo cute. I held my breath when Pinkie went around the curve, thinking she would hit the caboose each time but she didn't! XD

What a cute idea for a toy! I don't have room in my pony display area for one, so it's fun to watch other people's videos of them. ^^

Hi Nan,

Thank you for contacting us regarding the My Little Pony Friendship Express Train set.

Currently, we do not have the track pieces available as replacement parts. Please check back with us at a later time.

I appreciate your understanding.

So... not a "Yes, and here's how you get them" but not exactly a "no, sorry", either.

You liked the single track? Wait until you see what I film later today. I'm debating: tablet camera or HD video? :P Tablet I can direct upload, and HD camcorder I have to actually turn on my server and get a tripod and whatnot XD Hmm. Effort...We'll see! Its rainy and Im feeling creative :D

See, I'd want one going around my Christmas tree! Or some setup around the ceiling in my pony room! I'd pay for extra tracks, Hasbro!

Ok, so here's the first video I managed to do! It took longer than I thought because the fraggin cars kept tipping over...Hasbro needs to take a tip from badly designed SUV's and lower their center of gravity....Enjoy. More to come!

Yay thanks for posting! That is any amazing track, I'm definitely going to wait for a sale then buy them up! I like that Luna and Fluttershy are cab-mates. :) I always think Fluttershy would be best friends with luna and daisy dreams. i hope you keep posting your track combos!

That sucks how it keeps stopping or derailing. I wish you could hook up two locomotives, I think the train needs more pulling power. Is there anyone out there good with tinkering, or have a hubby that could figure out a way to get the train more "horsepower"? haha

That's really cool!  I wonder how fast you can get it to go if you replace the motor!
Title: Re: Pinkie's Crazy Train! tracks question!

Ok, questions answered: How many sets of track? A full three sets of track, so I guess however many comes in the set x3... :P

What am I doing with the extra segments? That setup used ALL available segments. My hubby did a FABULOUS setup when he got home last night that did a great loop, but I missed videoing it. I'll try to recreate it today :3

How fast would it go if you replaced the motor: We actually tried to disassemble the engine, but unfortunately the way that Hasbro assembled the whole thing, the main drive shaft of the train seems to be SO very integrated into the body of the train itself that pulling it apart would mean very probably snapping the main drive shaft. Unfortunately you can't take off the wheels either because of the way that they are assembled. But honestly it's irritating enough to me that I'mma just going to throw caution to the wind and tear it apart. I wanna see the innards of the dang thing. Ooo, since you have three sets, which means three engines... yes? What happens if you mess around adding engines to the front or back? I guess it won't go any faster, though... Back to the thinking board. *smoldering top of head*

That was my first thought too, but I don't think the locomotive has a hitch in front of it.

Post by: Bunny-san on March 01, 2012, 11:28:18 AM
Nope, no front hitch and also, unless you time it just perfectly it kind of gums up the works :( however, it's fun making track configs where there's separate infinite loops where the trains JUST miss each other :D

I'm afraid to pry the dang thing apart. I fear permanent damage to either the BODY of the train or the motor/drive shaft. But MEH. As the mythbusters say "STAND BACK! I'm going to do SCIENCE!" O_Ov
