"Pinkie Pie's Boutique"
« on: April 12, 2014, 11:54:11 PM »
I'm super late on the toy train, so I'm sure the rest of you have known about this since it came out however long ago.
But I want to talk about "Pinkie Pie's Boutique"
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

You know, these Target exclusive toys with the pink/black/white colour scheme.

three questions.
1. WHY
2. WHY
3. .. WHY???

I mean, they're ADORABLE, don't get me wrong, I had never seen them in my town until this week and I immediately bought Wysteria because I had never actually seen a non-mane6 pony in person before.

But what bothers me about this is... Firstly, why Pinkie? When not only is Pinkie not even REMOTELY related to fashion, but... Rarity ACTUALLY has a boutique! In the show! For real! If you're going to give a pony a whole fashion-esque line like this, why wouldn't be the one who.. fdhgjkfdhgjkfdhgdfjgh

This is a redundant post, I already know the answer; Pinkie is just more popular.
It just really upsets me how little love Rarity and Applejack get when it comes to the toys.
I am so sick of seeing all of this excess Pinkie Pie merchandise EVERYWHERE---I used to love Pinkie and it's actually made me hate the pony. It seems unfair!

It's a cute little line of toys anyway. Wysteria is my new favourite one I own.
What do you guys think of it?

Here's Wysteria at the zoo yesterday. We saw giraffees and seals and stuff.

I'm not a big fan of glittery toys, but I have kind of wanted Wysteria. Does the glitter come off a lot?

And yes, it's a pity Rarity wasn't the target of this line.

Rarity would have made more sense, sure, but there's something absurdly wonderful about Pinkie Pie gone gothic. And it's a boutique, so you just know she's trying to give other ponies makeovers too.

I think the G4 obsession/pushing with Pinkie Pie is left over from the G3 (and G3.5...) overuse of her.  I think it started with the whole Licensing Show thing, where they had to select one pony to "represent" the line at the time and Pinkie got it... and then kept getting her own little promos... and then she sort of took over from there   (This is, of course, all speculation.  I actually have no idea what it is that makes Hasbro keep recycling her over and over again.  I mean, she's cute and all, but I think pretty much every pony is.)

I always thought that too.  Pinkie does not make very much sense for the line in terms of the show and character personalities.  In terms of marketing though I guess it makes sense.  I would love a glitter rarity though :,-(

The glitter is actually pretty solidly attached, much to my pleasure.  Wysteria is probably my favorite currently owned G4.

As you say - you answered your own question. Its a Target exclusive line therefore you can bet the retailer was involved very actively in discussions on the line being created. Pinkie is a big seller; a whole line of pink little girls toys focused around "beauty" and "pink" - that's like manna to a girls toy buyer :P

I think what we forget sometimes is the show is the toys backup. Really the show should adapt to the toy line rather than the other way around. So if the toys say Pinkie is going goth and opening a beauty parlour, then I am going with that :P Plus Goth Pinkie is one of the coolest toys in the line so far I think - not many ponies are ever given black in their hair or have such a different colour combination. :)

Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I wonder  why Pinkie was the most poular in g3 line ! I mean now she has so adorable personality in show.
But then she  was only boring pink monochromatic pony !

I know it doesn't really make much sense to the show and is completely a ploy to get little girls to get pink glittery things.

BUT I LOVE THE COLOR SCHEMES.
Pink, black and white are gorgeous together. And I find it really cute.

And it's the first time I've actually kind of considered getting/really liked an Equestria girl.

ROTFLOL.

Pinkie does look really good with that black in there, I must admit. I have wanted to get one of the Pinkie figures and the Equestria Girls doll. Don't know if I'll have the money to set aside for it before the line is sold out, though.

I totally see where you're coming from, but I honestly don't think that's the case anymore!
In past generations, definitely, it was a show based off of a toyline.
But I think in g4 it has definitely turned into a toyline based off a show.

I wish that they would of had the glitter inside of them instead of the outside :(
