MLP Nirvana / Re: Is this for real?
« on: July 27, 2015, 05:40:26 AM »
Now this is a pointless aside, but... I don't speak Italian. While I can look up "morbidissimo" and find out that it means something like "super soft," I couldn't help but stop, stare at the word on the box and ask myself what these ponies are actually made of. :lookround:

Arts & Crafts Corral / For sale: July calendar painting original
« on: July 01, 2015, 12:28:40 PM »
I don't usually paint ponies, but when I do, it's for other people. However, I found one old original loitering around: a calendar illustration for July 2015, painted in May 2014 and subsequently printed in the Finnish MLP forum's calendar for 2015. The scan is a tad darker and more saturated than the original; those interested may ask for extra pics. The picture measures about 29 x 22 cm.

Anyone want it? I'm asking 60 EUR including free (slow, untracked) shipping anywhere.

Pony Corral / Re: Defrizzing questions
« on: July 01, 2015, 06:34:17 AM »
I've found G1 factory curls surprisingly durable. If the frizz is not extreme, simply washing and conditioning them may help. My personal standard method is to comb through the dry hair to untangle anything you can. Then shampoo and condition the hair in cold water, gently squeezing the curls in your hands, and they will spring back to place. Dry on a horizontal surface.

I've got no special advice on the Megan doll, as I've never defrizzed one.

Pony Corral / Show me your petite display!
« on: July 01, 2015, 06:21:38 AM »
At present, my personal petite collection resides in a box, but I wish to change that when I have time and room. For now, I'd like to see how others bring out the best in them and of course to drool over some petite photos. :dribble: Dear fellow collectors, how do you display your Petite Ponies?

I haven't seen one for sale in AGES!  I think it may go >$150 because of this...
I'd say more like $225-250 because that's what I used to see, even with just one brush. I bought mine for $160ish ?a year and a half? ago, during what I considered a low in the llama market.

For size, here's an old photo with North Star. I absolutely adore this llama

^ She only had Stardazzle for sale back when I bought her, so I don't know what (if anything) has happened to the rest.

If ponies could speak, they'd perhaps tell their individual histories.

Was the Finnish seller Sulaine by any chance?  (Real name had the initials N. K.)  I sold her a MIB Stardazzle long ago and I think she deboxed her MIBs.

That indeed was her, implying my Stardazzle originated from LadyMoondancer and the barrette is her original one. Thank you for filling us in :)

I understand what you mean.

I bought her from an older Finnish collector who is apparently not active anymore. Considering DBs were never sold on our side of the pond, Stardazzle was most probably not her childhood pony.

All right, here's what little I have and could dig up. Photo taken in natural light.

I'm pretty sure the hearts I have belong with Stardazzle because I got an identical barrette with her. Old photo:

Compared to your aqua hearts, I'd say it's the lighter one, but it's always hard to tell. You're right – the pink hearts are a whole new level of pearly. I've got nothing to add about the rest.

In fact, I'm in a similar situation with the pearly aqua hearts. I've got two of the said aqua barrette; one of them came with a mint and complete Stardazzle, so there's a good chance that it's her original one. Whether it's different from Morninglory's I wouldn't know, but it's clearly not the same colour as Windwalker's aqua lily, which I have. I do hope someone has comparison photos to share.

I've got no idea, but am camping in this thread in case it gets interesting. :awake: Based on the MIB photos I've gathered over the years, no one but Colormist and Dream Gleamer came with the pink hearts, but I don't know about the exact shade.

OT, but you're not the only one who's been having problems with the Arena search lately.

Can you pm me with the problems you are having? Or even post over in Site Support if you have not done already and we can take a look for you :)

If the problem persists, I shall. It's been a while, and I don't seem to be able to reproduce the situation right now. Which is of course a good thing.

Pony Corral / Re: Is this a real MLP?
« on: January 29, 2015, 06:04:35 AM »
Are there more dream beauties than those in the MLP G1 collectors inventory book?
No, there aren't. Of course there's always an infinitesimal chance that some hitherto unknown prototype or oddity would surface, but that's more of a theoretical speculation and none more were ever released.

Pony Corral / Re: Unpopular pony opinions!
« on: January 29, 2015, 03:30:43 AM »
More often than not, nirvana people go crazy over the "vanilla scent" of Greek ponies. To me, they reek of disintegrating poor quality vinyl… in my childhood, a store selling cheapo plastic wares smelled the same.

There is scientific evidence that the "vanilla scent" is actually a product of natural disintegration. At least, I know this is the case in old books. I don't have a link to the article I read on it, but you can probably look it up if you're interested.

Ha! I might actually score a point there!
