My thrift store find ponies had begun to accumulate around the house, and I finally decided it was time to get the entire pony collection out and sort through them. There is a lot more info out there now than there was a decade ago when I packed them up.

Most of my So Soft ponies are pretty grungy, but I read that I could scrub them with spray OxyClean. This worked really well on the first few, so I decided to do a few more. I sprayed down Cupcake, Magic Star, Cherries Jubilee, and Twilight and let them sit for ten minutes. They cleaned up so nicely!

When I went to put the OxyClean away I realized it was actually a bottle of Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner. I was horrified. That was three days ago, the ponies have been sitting on my kitchen counter since then. I'm waiting for something terrible to happen to them...

Assuming their flocking doesn't comically drop off them or something, I guess it's safe to use bleachy bathroom cleaner on gross So Soft ponies. Who knew?

Scrubbing bubbles will remove flocking if you wash with hot water lol learned that on a grungy truly oops :)

If the water is too hot, you can melt the glue holding the flocking on. :) as long as you use water that isn't too hot, they should be ok

Oooooh.

Off topic: My mom tells me that when I was little I insisted that we had to always use the "Scrubbing Bubbles" brand because those little brush guys from the commercials would come out and clean the bathroom for us. I don't know how nicely they'd treat ponies.

What an interesting accidental experiment :P I would try washing them down with cold or tepid water but as others have said do so super carefully in case it takes some of the flocking with it. Cant wait to hear how you get on! Hope it all works perfectly.

I think I tried that when I wanted to get flocking off.  Did not work.  The bubbles do not like me...

Haha, I did the same with Mr. Clean - apparently I told my mom if she got it, that a man would appear from the bottle and clean the house for her.

They were all in pretty rough shape to begin with, but nobody appears to have lost any more flocking than was already missing. So clean and bright!

Okay, I'm in the midst of moving and I had a semi manky best wishes I've been thinking of deflocking that I thought I'd try this on. I'm actually quite impressed with how well it worked! I gently submerged the pony in cold water to rinse and I didn't see any flocking loss o-o I'll be cleaning all my so softs this way when I reach my new home in ms ! Thank you so much for sharing!

If it has bleach in, I'd still be worried about the long term effects but I'm glad they are fine so far!!
