Pony cleaning help
« on: December 08, 2012, 09:24:22 AM »
I removed the head off my Moondancer when I noticed a cancer like spot on the inside of her rump. I was wondering what was the best way to treat that.

Also upon removing her tail I found her washer is covered in green gunk like you would find on an old penny it it also stuck on the inside of her tail hole. What should I clean it with?

For the rust removal on her tail I remove the metal and then scrub with toothbrush and toothpaste. Personally I take the metal waster and clip off to prevent future issues and store them, putting the tail back in with a white or clear cable tie. Others I know add the washer back on the pony. That's a personal decision.

For the rust removal inside the body, I fill the pony with denture cleaning tablets [one broken into pieces] and the very very warm water. This is usually enough to loosen rust - you ll need a pipe cleaner or a childrens toothbrush to get inside the body and clean the rest of the way.

The cancer spot is going to be a problem as while a pin prick and acetone might reduce it, it is pretty much unfixable.

Oxy lean inside the body will help with rust as well. A small toothbrush is very handy for cleaning too.

I'm not sure it's rust. I got it off her washer with some hotwater and some good old fashion elbow grease. The green goo in her body I couldn't seem to get it out.

But it's not brown like rust but it's a a green gummy goo.

i wonder if that could be the plastic breaking down , though I have never seen that before. So may we get a pic of what you see?

A picture is really only the way to say for certain but a break down of the metal could still go a green in colour and it can also be gunky rather then flaky. :)
