Why are the Celestial ponies now $25 on Amazon instead of $15?

My guess is Amazon is out of Polaris and the current listing is from a third-party seller, who can name their own price.  Polaris was originally $14.99 on Amazon like all the other Celestial ponies, I got her at that price.

I doubled checked and Polaris is listed as "shipped and sold by Amazon."   I was buying something else there yesterday and got a notice that Polaris' price had dropped by a few cents.

It doesn't make sense to me to charge more for her than the other 3 of the same set.

That's the same thing that happened with the plushies. Moondancer was like $50 while the others were less at first. It eventually dropped though.

I think it's interesting how both on amazon here and in the Toy Barnhaus Toymaster stores I saw down south, they only had Nova. Lots of Nova. But only her. Whereas the one in Putney had the whole lot.

Why Nova on her own? What's that all about? :/

No...the number that they had suggests that they just had a crate of NOVA for some reason. THe store in Putney had eight - two of each, which suggests two boxes of four, one of each pony. But in Sutton and Staines they both each had four Nova. That would be weird unless they had only been sent a box of 4 Nova.

Seems like she's been distributed much more than all the others. Amazon UK only had her up for sale to begin with. Not sure about now. I haven't looked. :/

So, Novas with pink stripes have been showing up, as seen in this Instagram post:

I asked Basic Fun's customer support about it and they basically said they changed the stripe pattern to pink to be more authentic to the original backcard picture.  So it sounds like the white-patterned Novas were the first wave and will be phased out.

Why this happened so late in production I have no idea, but I find it very intriguing.  Maybe a miscommunication with the factory?  Or maybe, right up until the last minute, Basic Fun employees were fiercely debating her stripe color!  It does make her look quite different from the rest of the set, but I'm glad they changed it.  (Because I love variants, mwahaha.)

I'll have to try and get Nova quickly then - I must admit I'm not very fond of the pink striped version :X

I'm just glad this news came out before I did any dye experiments on a Celestial, because I was thinking of trying one on Nova. I would have simply died.

Eventually I'm going to run a Celestial pony giveaway on my Tumblr, as a thanks to the community for the letter campaign, and I'll have a white-striped Nova for that.  (Already bought her.)  I'm just waiting for Polaris' price to drop back to normal . . .

Edit:  Maybe I'll give away one white-striped and one pink-striped Nova, that would be fun.  If I can get the pink-striped one by then.
