So I found the FiM colouring and activity books at my local dollar tree, I of course bought TWO of each, planning an awesome surprise pony swag gift for a couple I know who's all about My Little Pony, they've been in the herd for about a decade.
Anyway, I was looking at the 'activity' parts of the books, and guys, I was nailing them. I didn't even have to look at the answer keys. I think, that I might be a genius.
It's also possible that the books were made for toddlers and I'm just good at preschool homework. Not sure.
Seriously though, there's oodles of cute clipart in the books. My favourite is the one with Twilight staring down a book with an intense look on her face. That must be a really awesome book of magics and friendships for her to be so into it.

how about scanning and sharing the pictures?
-
Hehehe! I know what you mean! I found one to include as an extra in a pony package and couldn't help but grin while flipping through it.
Does yours have mutliple pages with the same clip art on it? The one I got has the same picture of Twilight Sparkle with Spike on her back, like, a dozen times!

It does! But I haven't noticed any 100% identical pages. There are pages with the same clipart, but one page will be Twilight, and another page will be that same Twilight with AJ, or with a different frame.
They're definitely good for getting young kids engaged in spelling and enabling their spatial reasoning skills. For us however, it's more 'Aww, lookit all the ponies!'
However, there are some pages that have things like 'match the two identical ponies!', I'll stare at them and think 'three of them are the same, not two! What's going on am I really this unobservant?!'. I have been stumped by a book for preschool age children. I'll get some scans of those pages when I get back from the gym this evening.

Awww...Congrats on your IQ level!!! I would go with "genius" as well...
-
Those coloring books are cute aren't they :inlove:
I've started making copies of the pages to color so I don't have to color the original and can use them again.

I'll get valedictorian in any preschool in this country.
What if I didn't? What if I went to a preschool and only like, came in third? Like, if I nailed everything, but didn't do a fingerpainting project 'cause getting all of that paint on your fingers is gross and I usually wear hockey jerseys and I didn't want to mess them. And not wanting to fingerpaint put me in third and I'd be behind the two other kids who got 100% on everything, and did the fingerpaints? What happens when the 25 year old dude with a college education can't do better than a four year old?

I found the activity books at Michael's a few months ago, and I picked them up for my girls when we took our road trip over Thanksgiving. They LOVED them.

Then our education system has finally started doing something right! :P

Sounds like fun. Congrats!

Haha, you sound even smarter about activity books than this guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SZvj9qUpEQ#t=4m28s)!

You crack me up Dr :lol: :lol: ! I was at my local Dollar Tree today, and they had squat for pony goods. For what it's worth, I think you're a genius!!

Hmm. I might find one and give the puzzles to my freshmen. That should be eye-opening. ;)
-
Have you seen the adult coloring/activity book somebody did for FiM? It's awesome.
-
Here's some Rarity clipart I hadn't seen before;

And some Cheerilee clipart. We don't see enough of Cheerilee!

Twilight is seriously into this book;

You don't know how long this took me. I didn't even do it on my own. I cut and paste two over four then adjusted the opacity to see what I was missing. I retract my statements about possibly being a genius;

Is it bad that the spot the difference took me almost 5 minutes of staring at the computer screen to choose between 3 of them?

Hahaha! Me too. Clearly I'm not a genius.

Wow, I feel dumb *joins the group having trouble with spot the difference.

The Rarity art is nothing new (it's from her carriage and appears on the Castle Creator as well), but I've never seen that Cheerilee! Funny how she's always walking around in this artwork, though…
Also, 3 and 4. 1 is missing the cutie mark and 2 is missing the end of her mane.

You'd think that us being pony folk, we'd be able to easily spot these differences. Clearly, they really want to improve kids observational skills. And adults, too.

LOL!
This is why I almost always choose children's DS games, it gives me a hope in hell of actually beating them. And then I get to feel smug about my mad computer game skillz.
Until my darling brother links me to the official Nintendo review of said game:
...anyone over 12 will breeze through the vast majority of its puzzles. It's aimed at children...
And I realise I'm working at a level much less than half my age. :(
Anywho, on the positive side, I totally got that spot the difference upthread. Yay me!

All great gain comes with sacrifice. Kiss the jerseys goodbye. :P
