Ictxelea, Queen of the Dead ~ Horns & Skulls swap for kCherry

First of all, please don't ask me how to pronounce that name, I have no idea!

I was very happy and also slightly intimidated to have kCherry as my partner, she's an awesome customiser who happens to have an AMAZING collection of Halloween and Day of the Dead themed customs (yes I stalk you on DA, Cherry! Lol). Coming up with the final design was a long process, Cherry's list of preferences and colour schemes was completely different from mine and I tried to find a good balance between her different likes, combining some of them without making it look forced or silly. I'm not a huge fan of the DotD make-up myself, even though I find the holiday itself wonderful, but I knew I wanted to make her something along those lines and happened to find a really inspiring pic among her DA favourites [link], along with quite a few other inspirational pics of e.g. BJD dolls with elaborate hair-dos and headdresses. KCherry also mentioned she likes customs with textures so I came up with a rough idea of an empress / queen / ruler of some sort with a fabric dress and an elaborate hairstyle with lots of dangly bits! Here's a brief background story I came up with, and then onto pics.

Spreading her black feathers, the lady of the dead is terrifyingly beautiful to behold.
Yet her single wing keeps her bound to the ground, as she is bound to her duty as
the guide of the dead and the ruler of the Underworld...

She was made using a Pinkie Pie bait. All sculpting was done with Apoxie (horns, wing, skulls, sandals), her hair is nylon hair from Dollyhair (Oyster Shell & Black Magick). The headdress thingy is from a craft store and the chain from a necklace my sister didn't want anymore. All her clothing and jewellery except the shoes are removable, although the dress is a bit of a pain to get on and off. The dress has three layers of thin fabric, lined with black lace and a velvet ribbon that wraps around the waist. The "shoulder straps" are not attached to the dress, I just tied the around the pony and hid the ends under the dress.

She's quite different from my usual work but in a good way, I think. This was a great challenge and also a great opportunity to try something different, for which I need to thank Cherry! I hope you all like her!
