MH - Sticky-icky bangs/hair? :C

Hey everyone!! First post in the DH, wow. 

I'm not much of a doll-person, I only like certain MH characters, and I just got my third MH girl today.. So yes, total noob here. 

Anyways, today I unpacked my Rochelle Goyle and noticed that her bangs and the strands of hair close to them are rather.. hm.. sticky? Like there is glue or some kind of styling stuff put into them? I guess to make the bangs stay in place and have her look neat and orderly on display.
Since my only other dolls are signature Frankie and Spectra, I have never come across anything like this before..

So what I want to know.. Has anyone ever tried getting that stuff out? How do you do it? Does it even work? Is it worth it?
I don't want to go through the hassle of getting her all wet to find out if maybe someone else has tried before and already discovered that it does not come off.. xD;

I haven't done it on my Rochele because I love the all straight fringe. But I've seen some people posted pictures of their Rochelle's with washed hair and the glue seem to have come off for them. But I don't really know since I haven't done it myself. Hopefully someone else can be more informative

I washed my Rochelles bangs and the glue came out fine.

Shampoo and water does fine to get rid of it. Wash several times to get it completely out.

I washed out my Operettas hair. Her's was so sticky you touched it and it instantly attracted anything off your hands. I've restyled it too and it looks a bit softer now than the harsh perfect flat curls.

There is also a problem with some dolls with the glue on the inside of the heads seeping out through the plugs and making the roots nasty. It's still a bit unknown if its due to environment or if it's going to happen to all dolls. It seems to happen to dolls in a warmer climate a lot faster though.

If you don't want to wash it out I used an eyelash brush to brush it out Took a minute or two but it worked great!

I have had my Frankie for quite a while and thankfully her hair is still fine... but what do you do in case that happens? The same thing? Wash and rinse again and again until it's gone?
I just want to be prepared. :E

Just FYI: Some of the stickiness will be from the gel/hairspray/whatever that they use to set the hairstyle in place. This stickiness can easily be washed out.

Unfortunately, if your doll was made in Indonesia, then some of the stickiness, especially if it's down near the roots, will be from the glue they used to hold the hair in the head. "Glue seepage" is apparently an issue with the Indonesian-made dolls (and I believe all the Rochelles were made in Indonesia rather than China). I understand that they use some weird waxy glue and they don't always cure it properly so it ends up seeping out through the hair and there's not a lot you can do about it short of rerooting the doll.

How do you style their hair btw. ..I guess like ponyhair?


pukunui: Thanks for the info! ..I checked her roots and unfortunately she seems to have that, too.. if she were human, I'd say she has not washed her hair in a while and now her roots are a tad greasy. xD; ..you cannot see it on display yet, tho.. I hope it stays that way for a while. Her haircolor is so beautiful.. would be a pity if I had to reroot her anytime soon. :7

I washed out Rochelle's hair is was thick with grimey glue!

I used Aussie Shampoo and washed it through thoroughly about 3 times, the fringe is much better now!
