Here's something no one else has mentioned, so it might just be the horses I worked with... but keep all personal objects safe and away from the horse. I had a horse pull my cell phone out of my pocket once (this was back in the day when phones had antennae) and eat part of it. O_o I think he was just trying to be playful, but it was definitely a weird experience.

Not just you its all of them I think phones, zips, crisps, cups of tea nothing is safe from the four legged monsters 

Haha, okay. Yeah, this farm I worked at also had goats, and all they were ever interested in eating was their food. The horses would go for anything, though! Any time someone makes a comment about goats I tell them that goats eat goat food -- it's the horses that will eat anything.

Small update: I had my first proper lesson today (previous one was a taster, no real learning involved). I learnt how to trot, properly! I've been on a couple of treks in the past and they told me you have to move up and down with the horse, which I tried but it just didn't work. Anyway today the girl helping me told me it was like a 1-2 motion rather than just up and down, and it clicked, I finally understood! So it was a good day. Just need to keep practising though as I still pull the reins a bit too hard and I think I might have been annoying my horse
