Is it time for Satin N Lace to go to the glue factory?
« on: April 19, 2017, 06:57:55 PM »
My ponies have been in storage since last July.  I checked on them today and This has showed up on one of my Satin n Laces.  Is it downhill from here and I need to take her out back and end her suffering?  Or can she be saved ?visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Exactly.  It's raised in the center.  I was curious which remedy may work on her, or if she has a poor diagnosis.

i remember seeing a page for this on the preservation project. it's exactly what it looks like- a pony pimple! Its a type of mold, supposedly. here's what the mlppp has to say about it:

Quote
Sometimes raised dots and bumps appear on a pony's head or body that contain fluid or white goo.  The bumps themselves are usually white or brown, but can be other colors. You can squeeze or prick the bump with a needle and let anything inside drain out. Once finished, disinfect the area with any product you prefer, in case this is a type of mold.  Information courtesy Raemarie.

Similar bumps may also not have fluid inside.  Theories on what causes these range from a reaction to heat to reactions to chemicals in the pony's environment.  Dark colored ones may be a form of pony cancer.  It doesn't hurt to disinfect these, just to be safe.

It's a type of mold.  The humidity is too high or they've been exposed to moisture at your storage facility.  Is it temperature controlled?  These shouldn't show up if the humidity stays below 70%.  It may be possible to remove it, but there's no guarantee.  If you keep the humidity below 70%, it shouldn't spread further (I never make promises though).  I've had a lot of luck removing them from ponies of this color though.  Email me at mlppreservationATgmail.com if you'd like some ideas for what to try.  :)

Ggfhg I would never recommend throwing out a pony... She didn't do anything wrong she just has a little mold.. Just try to clean it up and control the humidity so your other ponies don't get infected. Just cause one has some spires doesn't mean you throw it out..

I volunteer to adopt your poor pony with the "lovely beauty mark".

For sure!

Possibly drain the bump then boil her for an hour.

Edit: look at all that lovely pink still in her hair. What's a fair glue-rate price for her? I buy her!

One thing that really urks me, and worries me, is that people think these spots will spread from pony to pony.  Believe me, I used to believe some incorrect stuff to.  Fungus is everywhere, if the humidity gets too high these spots will start to show up, regardless of whether or not you already have an infected pony in your herd.  When the humidity is at the correct level, they won't spread.  I'd hate to see people start chucking ponies when that won't do any good.

LOL, I like the idea of calling them "beauty marks".

I never recommended throwing her out. There were answers here already, so I went along with the playful title...

I agree she must go to the glue factory...meaning my collection which could be described as a glue factory army.  I like to have perfect ponies heading each phalanx of their flawed minions...flawed ponies are best cuz they can be played with and enjoyed with no fear of messing up perfection.

As to to Satin n Lace, I am buying some ponies from someone who has one and was going to avoid her as too expensive but seeing her symbol close-up....I might be unable to resist having her thrown in now.

Lostpony, I have a Satin army.  I love her.  You should definitely add her to your collection.  I have only been able to find one so soft Satin, but I have several regular Satins and 3 or 4 magenta Satins.  And this one does have nice pink hair.

Far Dreamer, I live in Georgia, humidity central!  I'm surprised my ponies have survived this long.  I used to think I was supposed to store ponies in bags, but read a post here last week that said no.  So yesterday I pulled everybody out and started unbagging them, and discovered my poor Satin.  I've been looking at your site, I may have to hire you for a few things!

And I would never hurt her.  I was joking with the title to get some laughs.  I have so many ponies that I think others would throw away but I can't bear to let them go.
