How long does it take to rehair the mane of an adult G1 pony?

I've recently had my method called into question when one of my friends uses a different method, which only takes her about an hour to rehair the mane. The method I've been using takes about 6-8 hours!!!!

I use a tool and basically scoop the hair into the holes. She knots the end of her mane hair before pushing it through. The manes come out thinner than mine though, but still look good.

I was just interested in how long it takes other people to rehair G1 manes?

It takes me about an hour and a half, I just jam it in there and throw glue in there afterwards.  I only rehair for myself, though.

I take a while as I prep my hair plugs first -
making about 80 to 100 plugs, depending on the number of holes, with a central double-knot.
I do this in one evening, in between doing the school run, making dinner etc!

Then, when I have a couple of free hours, I will do the actual re-hairing using a needle and strong thread to pull the plug through. It takes a bit longer but it means I have a strong mane that doesn't need any glue to secure it afterwards (just my personal preference) then I can get on with boiling/cold water setting.  ^.^

It depends on experience and your method! Knotting takes longer but some feel that it is more secure, while using a rehair tool is quicker and you secure the hair with glue.

Same here.

I used to do the knot method, but it took me about 3 to 4 hours when I was starting off.

It's not always the tool so much as the individual and experience built up over time. I recommend experimenting and picking whatever feels most fun for you personally.

Tool takes me about 30/50 minutes depending on if I get distracted by playing with hair colors.

Several hours at least with the knotting method, but I find it's time well spent for the peace of mind of not having to worry that the glue might end up discolouring a precious custom later on down the road.

depending on how many lines of hair I have it down to about 2 hours for a normal one and 3 for one with extra e.g. a brush and grow :) but the massive G3 ones take me about 6-8 hours  (and a lot of cursing :))

I use the needle and thread method like glitterball, and it does take several hours. But it looks really neat and tidy inside the head, no chance of discolouration or glue breakdown, and you can style and brush with no fear of losing hair! I don't really like the idea of using glue, it sorta puts me off buying some rehairs/customs I would otherwise adore.

2-3 hours depending on how much hair I use and the pony mold (flutter pony, earth pony etc)

I use needle and thread as well, more time consuming but looks very lovely once completed :)

Last one took me two years to finish . Rehairing is not really my thing. Where I do use the tool method I get bored then have to wait till the urge comes round again. 😂

Though I am not overly bad at it it is just other people are much better and have a tidier end result.
