Circus cookies
« on: September 11, 2020, 06:17:09 PM »
I have always had a massive sweet tooth. One of the cookies that I have liked fondly for many years is circus cookies. Sweet little morsels tipped with candy colored frosting and crunchy “confetti” beads. They’re delicious and I don’t see much talk of this cookie whenever favorite cookies are discussed. There are even some ice cream flavors with these tasty cookies hidden like gold nuggets in the cream!

Let’s talk about this wonderful cookie!

Ah, I always called them frosted animal cookies. I think those would be one of my faves, when it comes to store bought cookies... I think they are so cute, I would love a little resin charm of one~

I also recently saw some really cute cakes with these used at the theme. I thought about doing that next time I made a cake. XD

ETA:
Ok I haven't had these in forever.. and I saw these halloween themed ones.. I kinda need them, lol.

That takes too long to say, I think. But I guess that’s why they are.....XD
I’m quite sure that resin charms of these exist. Have you tried Etsy?

Oh, this brings back memories. In elementary school teachers would often use these to bribe us into answering questions and participating. I don't care for them as much anymore, but they're pretty nostalgic.

I would love to see a gluten free version! These were the best kinds of animal cookie. I remember the kind with a thin glaze too, but it's not as good in my opinion.

i have only ever been familiar with the thick glazed ones. Are there thin glazed within the U.S?
Hmmm, try mailing the company a signed petition for gluten free ones? I don’t know where you might begin trying to coerce the makers of them...

Nope, our "animal crackers/cookies" are the plain, gross kind.  Like baby teething cookies.
Canada isn't big on SUGARY snacks... unless you count chocolate.

Ah, Iced is the adjective.

There's too many hoops to make sure the gluten free stuff would be actually gluten free, I'm just going to hope Schar makes some dupes eventually.

Man, I haven't seen these in years! I used to love 'em as a kid, but I think they would make my teeth hurt as an adult. Good memories, though!

Oh boy, I remember both kinds, the ones with sprinkles and the scraped-off-the-pavement kind!  I actually prefer the latter, as they have less icing and I'm not a huge icing fan.  They came in a big bag that just seemed endless to me as a kid...  But the kind with the sprinkles are also quite nostalgic, and they had more of a "special" feel to them.  I'm putting in my grocery order later, maybe I'll get some!
Thanks to Shimmlight for the new avatar image
