Yesterday was my dog's "birthday" (she's a rescue so we don't know her actual birthday) so we gave both of our dogs a special birthday dinner.

I've been experimenting with resin.  So far, I'm happy with how this one is turning out.

She has glitter for daytime sparkles but glow-in-the-dark stars and moons for nighttime fun.  I don't think she'll be as darkly colored once I take her out of the red mold but that will make it easier for the glowing bits to absorb light.

I almost came under attack from the hedgehogs! 
At 10 o'clock in the evening I took food to the hedgehog. At first it was nowhere to be seen, but then I heard a puffing (is the word correct?) under the bush. I said, "Oh, there you are." I lowered the dish to the ground and turned toward my door until suddenly another hedgehog ran towards me!  Luckily, it just went past me right next to my foot and ran to another hedgehog. So they started pushing each other hard and their "hiss" continued louder. As the two hedgehogs fought, a rustle began to sound right next to me in the bush!  A third hedgehog emerged. It, in turn, ran to my feet to sniff me until it spotted the fighters and fled back into the bush in fright.
I finally got to sneak back inside for my own chores and left the hedgehogs to spend the spring. 

These are certainly the same hedgehogs I met last summer. The fighters are males and what is hidden is a female.

Aww, no seals on cam right now. I love seals, I've only ever seen them in captivity.

Goslings! I knew there was one brood of four, but when I walked up to the shop this morning I saw a second family with nine little fluffles! So thirteen fluffles at the ponds Also two little moorhen puffball chicks...literally balls of black fluff with beaks and legs. So cute.

You're so lucky! The ducks that hang out at my parents' house sometimes bring ducklings with them, and I have seen baby Sandhill Cranes. They're all legs

I had a nice day with my mom I made lemon bars from scratch and made them extra lemony. I didn't like them, not a big fan of lemon, but my mom loved them. It was the first time I've baked a dessert in a really long time.

Baby moorhens are some of the cutest and craziest little things. They run around like maniacs, and when they cheep they sound like a squeak toy. The adults have a very shrill call, but the babies are genuinely squeak toys. Fluffy squeak toys. And they get into everything. But they look after each other. There was one older chick last autumn grabbing food and feeding a sibling from a later brood.

Baby geese are also very sweet. They are so used to people they don't even bother when you walk past.

Last night when I got home there were 2 painted rocks and a note from some of the little girls down the street telling me to have a happy day.  They're so cute!
