Help me bring Bouquet's glory back!

Long time no see pony friends! I don't peruse the forums much these days but even I know when to turn to pony experts for advice. I recently have gotten my hands on some G1 girls for the first time in AGES. They're mostly in good condition, minus some scuffs and very unfortunate nicotine smells, but one pony in particular needs a bit more help than I know how to give.

Poor Brush N' Grow Bouquet here is a discolored, cancer ridden mess! This is her after a scrub down and conditioning, and it didn't take away nearly as much grime as I hoped. The pictures in as much natural light as I could get give her a pinkish hue but she has a tinge of yellow and is oddly grey.

I know there's more than one way to whiten a pony, but with the cancer spots she has (there's about 4-5) I'd like to know from other's which way is best! Hydrogen peroxide soak or good ol' sunfading.

Also - any tips for getting that cigarette smoke smell out of her? I didn't realize how bad it was until I got my nose right up on the plastic, eek!

You can do both peroxide and sunlight actually. I think that would help the most. You can soak her in a glass jar and put it in the light.

As for the smell, cat litter or baking soda (or both) in a bag for a few days should help.

The tinge of yellow could be nicotine stains, and I second BC's suggestions for the smell removal!
It's hard to know what the grey is in the photo, is it more of a pindot situation, or an even grey discolouration? And what did you use to scrub? I find melamin sponges to work really well on all kinds of stubborn dirt.

I actually did use melamine sponges on her, it definitely did something as the sponges were dirty after but she still looked rough. It doesn't appear to be pindot, that's full body discoloration.

For the smell, I'd place her in (unused) cat litter for a few months. I'm not sure of the brands available in your location but I use Everclean. There are other non-clay-based options that work as well.

Ahh, I see. then I think your best bet is following BC's advice I hope it works!

Unfortunately Bouquet seems to be prone to discoloration.  I have never seen a nice one.  One thing that really helps with sunfading is using Salon 40 Creme (it's concentrated hydrogen peroxide).  I would protect her hair by conditioning it and wrapping in foil to minimize oxidation damage and fading, then spread the cream on her body (avoiding symbols and eyes) and set it in the sun.  I've not tried it with this specific pony, but it has worked wonders with other ponies I have tried.  I do not recommend acne cream (benzoyl peroxide) or RemoveZit.  Both are organic peroxides that get into the pony plastic and can do long-term damage.  Hydrogen peroxide is less stable and will naturally break down over time, and it is chemically less compatible with the pony plastic so it doesn't seem to get absorbed.
