I got accepted onto my MA recently, but the real reason I'm excited is because I was looking at modules today and there is a digital histories module - a programming module seeking to combine interests in computer science and history to work on databases and such!! Which are my two biggest interests. I'm really hoping I can get a place on it (not that I expect it will be super oversubscribed) - I've done programming as a hobby so to get some proper teaching would be AWESOME!

that sounds like so much fun! i've never heard of digital humanities before.

I woke up today and DO NOT have a headache! One hasn't come on in three hours so far.

I was getting very concerned. With my history of having a brain tumor and all, any headache that lasts a long time makes me worry. Once I had one in the same spot for 7 days before I went to the ER. Turned out it was from a nerve in my shoulder. They gave me a shot and told me how to take pressure off the nerve.

These have been central to my face and wrap around to the temple behind the ears. I was thinking sinus infection, but I have no other symptoms. Anyway, I'm glad it's gone today. Hopefully it stays gone.

I also got some great news! My EBT (food stamps) has been reinstated I'm glad it happened so quickly. I'm getting less than I was before since my dad has been giving me more money each month, but that's okay. I actually have plenty of food but I run out of fresh things like veggies and cheese. A lot of what I have in the pantry also calls for milk or eggs or both.

Now if my disability gets reinstated soon I'm all set

BC, i'm glad you're feeling better and your EBT was reinstated

about a week ago i dropped the little rubber end of my headphones on the floor and i was very sure that Luna ate it. since i couldn't find it anywhere and she's already eaten a few things she shouldn't so this morning i see her playing with something and when i walked over i saw that it was my missing headphone piece. where was she hiding it? she's a mystery. i'm glad to have it back. i already ordered replacements but i guess now i have backups.

I picked up my medication! I find it difficult to go to the pharmacy as I'm at work miles and miles away when the pharmacy is open, and it's only open a few hours on a Saturday (when I'm sometimes ALSO working), so I'm happy to get a fresh supply that will last for months!

My happy things for today:
My desk now looks like a proper desk again I'm really pleased with all the work I've done on it lately, and I've cleared a bunch of my university stuff into proper places.

And!

I think my sense of smell is slowly coming back. I have normally a very sensitive sense of smell, which is sometimes annoying, but right now I kind of miss it. I can definitely smell the soap on my fingers though!!

During my tidying, I also found my magnets from my time in London, where for 2 years I had accommodation with a magnet board. I have a small magnetboard in my room, which I have cleared off as the stuff on it had been there years and had mostly faded out. In my bag of magnets I found 3 that I must have got from ponycon, since they were clearly made by someone in the community.

I have Gypsy, Windy and Snowflake on my board now along with the other magnets, the elephant my sister brought back from Koh Samui, and my owl from Slovakia.

I think I've cracked a secret to wax seals! I was annoyed the one I applied to a thank you card was messy, but when doing a birthday one I made the puddle then gently blew on the surface before applying the seal, instead of rushing to apply like I normally do. I did the same for another card today, and I think the trick is to let it sit for a couple of seconds before applying the seal! Means it doesn't slide in the wax and make it messy!

My birthdays made me happy, even if I didn't celebrate.  I was eating with my mother and my husband in a buffet restaurant all evening!
I received a lovely pony card from my friend and my other relatives remembered to send me congratulations via Whatsapp.

What made me happy today was finally having enough diamonds to wake up an epic monster in a game I play I've been saving my diamonds for weeks. He makes a really cool sound and he looks like a tree! I plan to save up more diamonds to wake up the others on different islands.
