Pony Corral / My FOUR favorite Rainbow ponies
« on: September 14, 2023, 02:36:04 PM »
I’ve done these for Twinkle Eyes, So Softs, TAFs, and Princess ponies. Now it’s time for the Rainbow ponies! I never had Rainbow ponies as a kid, but when I started collecting G1 ponies from years two and three a couple years ago, I’ve acquired all of them from the first set and half of them from the second set. Here are my FOUR favorite Rainbow ponies:

1. Moonstone - I love ponies with celestial symbols, so it should come as no surprise that Moonstone is my favorite Rainbow pony. And as much as I love ponies with moons and stars, what make Moonstone even more unique is that she has a planet, which you don’t see as often. The Moonstone I got a few years ago unfortunately has most of her symbol rubbed off. I guess that’s bound to happen when a symbol is created from glitter! I do wish her blue color was a tad darker.

2. Parasol - I think she is so cute! My Parasol is in pretty good condition and I got her for a great deal. I don’t really use the word “parasol”, like ever, but that’s probably because parasols are used for protection against the sun and I never use them. Does anyone use a parasol these days? I suppose Parasol could also be called “Umbrella”, but that’s just not as cute of a name.

3. Windy - Yep, both unicorns from the first set made my list. I do like their pose (both with the right hoof raised). Windy is lavender, but the Windy I have in my possession has had her color fade pretty significantly.  I still love her, though! Her glittery purple gusts of wind symbol is still pretty much in tact. I think they did a great job of depicting wind as her symbol.

4. Trickles - I will admit that I almost chose Starshine as my fourth favorite Rainbow pony as I do love white ponies with rainbow hair. But I went with a pony from the second set of Rainbow ponies. I think Trickles is really cute; I love her watering cans symbol as it’s something different and we never see anything like that again. The trotting pose she’s in is my favorite pose. I do wish her yellow coloring had a little more pop. The Trickles I obtained is a bit faded, though I wonder if this is just something that happens with all (or most) the Rainbow ponies? Also, does it bug anyone else that there's a Tickle in this group of ponies? Why do they have two ponies with very similar names in the same set of six?

Overall, I like the Rainbow ponies from the first set better than the second set. Their mane and tail colors complement them much better than the second set’s. If I had to choose a least favorite Rainbow pony, it would have to be Pinwheel, who I recently acquired. My God, what a garish pony! Her toxic waste neon pink color does not complement her mane and tail colors. Her name is cute and I do love the pinwheel symbols. I just wanted to say something positive about her!

Who are your FOUR favorite Rainbow ponies, and, if you had to choose, who is your LEAST favorite Rainbow pony?

Pony Corral / Rhapsody in BLUE ponies
« on: September 07, 2023, 09:47:09 AM »
Today I will be discussing blue ponies! Blue is one of my favorite colors for ponies, probably in my top three. There are so many shades of blue from a bold rich blue like Tuneful, Star Gleamer, or Twisty Tail (to name a few) to a lighter blue (some may refer to it as a powder blue or pale blue) like Sweet Stuff or Sugar Apple to an aqua shade like Sunlight to a turquoise shade like Cranberry Muffin or Tassles to a shade of blue that could be described as periwinkle or ash such as Sparkler of Ringlets.

There’s almost too many shades of blue that it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what shade of blue a pony is. There are even a few I wasn’t even sure if they were blue or green, but I’ll get to those later.

When I think of blue ponies, the first two that come to my mind are Bow Tie and Wind Whistler, who are very classic blue ponies. Also, Bow Tie was one of my very first ponies in my childhood collection. These two blue ponies are not only classic ponies, but they also have pink hair. I feel like blue ponies with pink hair is a very popular color combination and I can see why because those two colors compliment each other quite nicely. Other blue ponies with pink hair include:
-Squeezer (let’s be honest: Squeezer is a Happy Tails Bow Tie!)
-Coco Berry
-Baby Cuddles
-Dainty Dahlia
-Mommy Sweet Celebration
-Tornado
-Princess Serena/Aquamarine
-Posey Rose (Funny story - Posey Rose was part of my childhood collection and it was only when I was doing research for this that I realized her name was Posey Rose and NOT Posey Rosey, which I had been calling her all these decades! Whoops!)

Sugar Apple is a very pretty blue pony with her dark pink and white striped candy cane curls.

I also need to shoutout to the Italian Lickety-Split who is blue with pink hair. She is gorgeous! I much prefer her to the pink body, pink hair Lickety-Split!
http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/File:Blue_ls.PNG

Another color mane/tail combination I really love with blue is white. There’s just something classic about blue and white. They’re just two colors that look really good together. Sunbeam’s aqua body color with her white hair gives off a very icy look (ironic, considering her symbol is a sun!) Night Glider and Princess Taffeta are also blue ponies with white hair. And (so soft) Fifi gets the best of both worlds by being a blue pony with white hair with a pink steak.

I also think blue looks really good with rainbow/multi-colored hair. Moonstone, Sunlight, and Starflower from the Rainbow Pony collection all look great, but it’s really Sweet Pop, and especially Sweet Stuff and Bright Eyes that I love. But then again, I may be biased because the Twinkle Eyes ponies are my favorites set. I used to be sleeping on Bright Eyes, but, ahem, she really woke me up (a little humor since her symbol is an alarm clock!) with her bold and beautiful colors. Sweet Stuff’s light blue color with her pink, purple, and white hair and pink and purple gumdrop symbols is just such a pretty combination.

Blue is a pretty common color among the Big Brother/Mountain Boy ponies. Quarterback is a blue pony with blue hair, 4-Speed is a pale blue (almost gray-ish) pony with blue hair, Barnacle and Tornado are blue. And of course there’s little Lucky who’s all blue.

Off the top of my head, I can think of three ponies that have “Blue” in their names: Blue Belle, Princess Royal Blue, and Blueberry Baskets. I think Blueberry Baskets is the bluiest blue pony (yes, I realize that’s not a real word!). She’s blue with blue hair and has BLUEberries for her symbol. Princess Royal Blue is not a shade of blue that I would associate with the color royal blue. I think of royal blue being a deep, rich blue.

Blueberry Baskets, Lucky, and Quarterback may be monochromatic blue ponies, but they’re not the only ones. Peach Blossom and Angel are also all-blue ponies.

I already mentioned that Bow Tie was a childhood blue pony I had, but others I had include Tropical Breeze (my favorite flutter pony and I loved her bright red hair), Sparkler (her blue is almost a periwinkle), and Ribbon (another classic blue pony, though sometimes I wonder if she mostly red hair with a chartreuse streak if that would have gone better with her coloring).

I’m not a fan of the Rockin’ Beats ponies - their colors are garish and they have ugly and nonsensical symbols, but if I had to pick the one I liked the most from that group, it would be the blue pony, Tuneful. The blue with the red and purple hair and symbol shapes gives off a striking color palette.

Now let’s discuss the ponies where I’m not sure if they’re supposed to be blue or green because they’re in that almost in-betwen hue. Cranberry Muffins, Tassels, Woosie, and Salty/Tug, are turquoise ponies who I can’t decide are more on the blue side or the green side. On their backcards, their illustrations look green, especially compared to a true blue pony. (For example, Woosie looks green when she’s next to Squeezer, but again, this is their illustrations). Sometimes Sky Rocket (the sparkle pony) looks blue to me, and sometimes she looks green to me. I suppose when you’re looking at a pony on a screen, and not in real life, you’re not always going to see the proper color it really is.

Who is your favorite blue pony?

Pony Corral / My six favorite Princess Ponies!
« on: September 13, 2022, 01:42:11 PM »
Here are my six favorite Princess Ponies. As someone who only had one Princess pony in their childhood herd (Princess Pristina), I feel like I am not very familiar with these ponies. I’ve mentioned it before, but aside from Princess Pristina and Princess Tiffany, I have a hard time differentiating the Princess Ponies from each other. (Tiffany is easy to remember since she’s all white). Because they have emblems instead of an actual object for a symbol, if you showed me a picture of a Princess Pony, I would have no idea what her name is…all I could do is make an educated guess. (I realize that their emblems are shapes of different objects, but it’s not like their names (usually) help me remember which one is which. I should say that I am writing this before I have selected my six favorite Princess Ponies or have created my poll. I assume I’m going to gravitate toward the Princess Ponies who are the most aesthetically pleasing to me.

Okay, I’m writing this part after I’ve selected my favorite Princess ponies. I totally forgot about the Princess Brush and Grow ponies and the Princess ponies with the terrifying eyelashes. I’m not sure if they’re counted as “true” princess ponies,  but I have included them in the poll as well. The princess B&G ponies don’t even use “princess” as a title. Also totally forgot about Baby Princess Sparkle, so including her too.

Here are my six favorite princess ponies:

1. Princess Pristina - As I mentioned before, she was the only Princess Pony I owned, so of course I have to have her be #1! I remember picking her out at Toys R Us. I assume I got her because of her colors. At that time, I didn’t have many green ponies and I think I was drawn to her colors. As a fan of alliteration, I have to say her name is very satisfying. She’s part of the second group of Princesses who didn’t come with as many accessories as the first set. With those you got a damsel hat, one of those cone-shaped hats with streamers instead of some lame barrette in the shape of a crown. Also not to mention the first set of Princesses came with a bushwoolie (or dragon, depending on where you lived).

2. Princess Tiffany / Princess Pearl - Interesting that my top two Princess ponies are the two Princess pegasuses (pegasi?). Being one of the only all white G1 ponies (Pony Bride also comes to mind), Princess Tiffany has a very unique look. I like her tear-drop shaped medallion. The aqua gem in the center is quite striking with her white coloring. There are smaller yellowish-orange (I can’t quite discern what color they are) gems surrounding the bigger one and I feel like they would have been more striking if they were red or purple.

Princess Tiffany is from the first set of Princesses. Her UK name is Princess Pearl. The UK Princesses are named after precious stones (Princess Ruby, Princess Aquamarine, etc.) I think this makes much more sense. It helps with remembering who is who (Princess Ruby is the pink pony, even though I think of a rich red when I think of rubies, but we’ll let that one slide…it certainly is easier to remember Princess Ruby than it is to remember Princess Primrose!) A part of me wonders if they named Princess Tiffany after Tiffany and Company because it evokes luxury and expensive taste. Though if that were the case, wouldn’t she be that robin’s egg blue they’re so synonymous with?

3. Princess Royal Blue / Princess Sapphire - I get it. She’s a princess and she’s royalty, so she’s named Princess Royal Blue. However, when I think of royal blue, I think of a deep, rich blue, more like the color Princess Taffeta is in the second set of Princess ponies. Her UK name is better (though the sapphire is my birthstone, so maybe I’m biased). Princess Royal Blue is more a sky blue (well, to my eyes, anyway). Don’t get me wrong. I think her shade of blue is very pretty, but if you’re gonna name her Royal Blue, then make her royal blue. I do love her dark pink mane and tail and think the color contrasts nicely with her blue body. Along with the teardrop shaped medallion, the crescent shaped one (which Princess Royal Blue has as her symbol) is among my favorites for the Princess Ponies. And speaking of Taffeta…

4. Princess Taffeta - I think she is a beautiful shade of blue. I feel like you don’t see as many ponies that are that deeper shade of blue (Bow Tie comes to mind). Also, the only other blue pony with white hair I can think of is (SS) Fifi. Something I noticed about Princess Taffeta is that her tinsel is different colors while the other Princess ponies have one solid color for their tinsel. That definitely makes her stand out!  I also love her name. “Taffeta” is a great name for a Princess Pony; it’s just sounds expensive and luxurious. Also, at least it’s something different and not as predictable as Princess Sparkle or Princess Sunbeam or Princess Moondust. Not that there’s anything wrong with those names, but we’ve either had those exact same names or at least something very similar to them before.

5. Princess Serena / Princess Aquamarine - I like her aqua body with her pink hair, though I know her hair is prone to fade to white, but it still seems to work with her coloring (though she looks better with pink hair). Her heart medallion is very sweet and very in line with the MLP brand.

6. Princess Sparkle / Princess Amethyst - Again, the UK name is much better. Her (North American) name may be unoriginal and I’m assuming it’s a repeat (is there another pony named Sparkle? I know there’s Sparkler (I think there are two Sparklers!), but I do like the Mimic pose and I think it works really well with a Princess pony. It’s a very proud and authoritative pose. I like how her lavender body compliments her aqua hair. It’s a very soft, feminine color pairing.

Let me know who your favorites are!

Pony Corral / My TWELVE favorite So Softs!
« on: April 14, 2022, 02:53:38 PM »
When it comes to G1 ponies, So Softs probably aren’t at the top of anyone’s list. And I get it: they’re hard to find in good condition. If you can find a So Soft in good condition these days, consider yourself lucky. I understand why people de-flock their So Softs; however I’m not a fan of de-flocking a So Soft that’s in good condition.  All my childhood So Softs have seen much better days. I had seven So Softs, more than any other type of pony (save for “original” year 2 and 3 ponies), so a good percentage of them did make up my childhood herd. Also, I don’t think any type of pony has more than So Softs! There are twenty-nine So Softs! That’s a lot! If only there had been 29 Twinkle Eyes! Of course, seven of them are original ponies they turned into So Softs. Since there are so many, I’m going to list my TWELVE favorites:

1. Surprise - I have to put SS Surprise as my #1. Being one of my childhood ponies, she’s a very special pony to me. I received her for my sixth birthday (along with Fizzy who is my favorite pony of all time). Being named “Surprise” and having balloons for her symbols, I’m sure my mom thought she was the perfect pony to give me for my birthday!  I can’t think of any other pony that has that neon yellow color for their hair. Unfortunately, my Surprise isn’t in the best condition since I decided she needed a bath in the Waterfall play set and she was never the same after that! Even though I do like the “Surprise” pose, it doesn’t really go with her personality we know from the animated series. I know Pinkie Pie was modeled after her, but I think PP is much annoying, though it has been awhile since I’ve watched animated Surprise, so she could be just as annoying! But when it comes to SS Surprise, I absolutely love her.

2. Crumpet - While the majority of So Softs comes from Year 4, the few that came from Year 5 are some of my favorites and Crumpet is no exception. Her buttery-caramel colored mane and tail look gorgeous with her yellow body and her teapot and teacup symbols are absolutely adorable. The fact that there are hearts on the teapot and teacup make it even more precious. I have a teapot calendar and I love it even though, ironically, I don’t drink tea. I just love Crumpet’s whole aesthetic.

3. Lofty - Another one of my childhood ponies, though I don’t remember when/where/what reason I received her. I’m guessing she was a Christmas present. Or a birthday gift. Those were pretty much the main times I ever got ponies! I love Lofty’s monochromatic look and she has a hot air balloon for a symbol! While I do love Surprises’ balloons, there are other ponies with balloons and I can’t think of another pony (except for Baby Lofty) who has a hot air balloon for their symbol (I’m sure I’ll be corrected if I’m wrong!).

4. Angel - Another Year 5 So Soft, Angel is a fun pony. With her green-blue body, it looks like the three angelfish are swimming through the ocean. I also like how if she’s a pony you’re not familiar with, you might think symbol is a halo or something, but then you see the angelfish and you’re like, Oh, of course!

5. Bangles - Yet another Year 5  So Soft pony and the only one I had in my childhood herd. She’s also the only pony I had in the Mimic pose, which is my favorite unicorn pose (or at least one of them….there are a few unicorn poses I quite like). I like her pink heart and pearl necklace with the heart pendant for her symbol. (Although, when I think of bangles, I think of bracelets…or the ‘80s pop group that sings “Eternal Flame” and “Manic Monday”!).

6. Buttons - I feel like if I have Bangles at #5, Buttons should be my next one. Besides their pose and symbols, they are the exact same pony! I don’t know why they made them look so similar! Even both their names are two syllables and start with the same letter. Bangles and Buttons look and sound like they could be sisters and since I owned both of them, that’s exactly what they were when I played with them.

7. Wind Whistler - Even though it’s been a minute since I’ve seen any episodes of the animated TV show, I remember Wind Whistler being a pretty major character, so even though she (alas) wasn’t in my childhood herd, I do have fond memories of her. I like her blue and pink color combination. One thing I would change about her would be her whistle symbols. Just because her name is “Wind Whistler” (which I think is a great name), I don’t think she needs literal whistles as symbols. I think it should have been swirls to depict wind or birds (in fact, for the longest time, I always just assumed her symbols were birds!)

8. Truly - I think the dove symbol is done better on Truly than it was done on Pony Bride. (In fact, Argentinian Truly kinda has Pony Bride vibes…she isn’t flocked and is all white). I’ve always loved the rearing pose and wished they had done it on more ponies. I never had a rearing pony, so for all I know it could have been a pain to have one, especially if the little stand it came with broke. White is my favorite color for ponies because they (usually) look good with any hair color and Truly is no exception with her dark pink hair. She is truly an amazing pony - aha, see what I did there?

9. Magic Star - I love the rearing pose so much, I had to put another pony in that pose on the list! Yellow and green is one of my favorite color combinations for a pony, so another reason why this earth pony made my list.

10. Paradise - One of my childhood ponies; I got her for Easter. (I only remember this because there’s photographic proof!) I’m pretty sure my parents got her for me because she had red hair like me…of course, hers was much more vivid! Naturally, I made Paradise the proprietor or the Paradise Estate. I love her palm tree and moon symbols. It’s very serene, also reminds of the South Carolina state flag!

11. Twilight - Twilight may have the same name as another (much more popular!) pony, her pose may not be my favorite (though I am coming around to it), and her purple and pink color combination may be generic and overused, but all that said, she is on this list because I love her flickering candle in a candle holder symbol. And I actually don’t mind her color combination that much; it is pretty even though those colors can be a bit overused on ponies.

12. Fifi - I think Fifi is really cute with her poodle symbols and I like her shade of blue. I think this Fifi’s name fits her better than the TAF Perm Shoppe Fifi.

Who are your twelve favorite So Soft ponies?

Pony Corral / My six favorite Twice as Fancy ponies
« on: February 10, 2022, 01:36:59 PM »
Here are my six favorite Twice-as-Fancy ponies:

1. Sugarberry/Strawberry Fair - While making this list, I thought Night Glider would be my #1 (spoiler alert: she’s #2), but when I looked at the TAF ponies closely, I’ve come to really like Sugarberry. Her symbol of strawberries on vines works well for the TAF theme. Being a white pony, the strawberry vines and her red mane and tail really stand out. Besides Paradise, I can’t think of a white pony that has such vivid red hair. And whether she’s called Sugarberry of Strawberry Fair, she has a delightfully cute name.

2.  Night Glider - Night Glider ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to specifics I like about ponies: Favorite pose? Check. Celestial theme? Check. Aesthetically-pleasing color combination? Check! You don’t see white hair on ponies too often and I do like it paired with the color blue she is, though if she were just a pinch darker, I think that would look amazing. But I don’t own Night Glider (way too expensive for one thing) so she may be perfect already as she is.

3. Milky Way - Speaking of celestially themed ponies with white hair…I love all the glittering silver stars on Milky Way’s body. That being said, I prefer the European version of Milky Way with the white stars that are painted on. I think they really pop and at least they’re not glitter so they’re not going to rub off. I believe Milky Way is only one of five ponies to have this pose, which is one of my favorite unicorn poses. In my mind, Milky Way is BFF with Galaxy and they love discussing astronomy.

4. Scoops - Scoops is a special pony to me. I got her and her ice cream parlor as a present from my good friend and next door neighbor, Meredith, when I was seven (In fact, she was so excited about it, she gave me a “sneak peek” of my present before my birthday party when I  was in her room and she opened her closet door and told me to look up on the shelf and sure enough, there it was!) Scoops is my second favorite playset pony after Majesty. I love her ice cream sodas (in m childhood herd, Fizzy used to work at the The Sweet Shoppe with her) and her name is just so cute! Scoops! I love it!

5. Sweet Tooth/Lollipop -  She’s on this list because I like her color combination and fun lollipop symbols.

6. Dancing Butterflies - I love a monochromatic pony and DB is one of my favorites. The alternating pink and blue butterflies go well with her yellow body and mane and tail. The butterfly design on DB is much better than that on Flutterbye. I love her Spanish name, Mariposa (as you can tell from my username), which, as you probably know, means butterfly in Spanish. I don’t see a French DB on the wiki page, but if there is one, I imagine her name is Papillion. The only thing I’m not crazy about is her pose, but I am becoming more fond of it. I don’t dislike it as much, as say, the Powder pose.

Can’t wait to see who your favorite TAF ponies are!

Pony Corral / My six favorite Twinkle Eye ponies
« on: October 13, 2021, 10:38:35 PM »
Twinkle Eyes are among my favorite ponies. I was just going to do my five favorite TEs, but decided to do six because, well, why not?

One of the things I love about Twinkle Eye ponies is how well their multi-colored manes and tails compliment their body colors. They are the first ponies to have more than two colors in their mane and tail since the Rainbow Ponies. However, what makes them different than the Rainbow ponies (and more interesting, IMO) is that while the Rainbow ponies all have the same colors in their mane and tails, the Twinkle Eyes are the first ponies to have their own individual mane and tail multicolors. As much as I love Rainbow ponies and think they’re great, they are kind of same-y with their hair colors. I love that the Twinkle Eye ponies each have their own individual look and the multi-colors in their mane and tail coordinate with their body color.

There are 15 Twinkle Eye ponies altogether, so here are my SIX favorites out of those fifteen, plus I did four “honorable mentions” (so basically the rest that would make up my top ten !)

I also made a poll for everyone to pick their six favorite Twinkle Eyes! I am excited to see the results!

1. Fizzy - Fizzy is not only my favorite Twinkle Eye pony, but she’s my favorite pony altogether. I got her (along with SS Surprise) for my sixth birthday. (I don’t actually remember this, but there is photographic proof of me holding both those ponies on my sixth birthday). I also had Fizzy on my cake the next year and in this current day and age, I own a clock with Fizzy that has the Dream Castle in the background (I love it so much!) Of course, I still have my original Fizzy. She’s a little worn down, but it just shows how much I loved her, right? Green ponies seem to be rare and I love the shade of green they’ve made her - kind of a turquoise color. I noticed she’s more green on the backcard artwork. Her pink, white, dark pink, and green hair coordinate extremely well and her symbol is a bunch of ice cream sodas! Who wouldn’t like that? Also, her name is super fun.

2. Galaxy - Galaxy was also a childhood pony of mine, so I can’t not put her on this list. I don’t remember if I got her as a present or if I picked her out myself. Astrological/celestial symbols are my favorite symbols on a pony so Galaxy with her Big Dipper constellation symbol is no exception. Her shade of pink reminds me of the color the sky is when the sun is setting; that time you would call dusk. The strip of white in her mane and tail among the red, pink, and orange really pops. I bet the Pony Costume Wear “Galaxy Glamour” was made with her in mind! In my childhood herd, Fizzy and Galaxy were best friends! But of course!

3. Masquerade - Masquerade is a fun pony. When I did my “research” on yellow ponies, I mentioned that yellow ponies with green hair is one of my favorite color combinations and Masquerade may be my favorite pony with this color combo. Her different shades of green (plus blue) in her mane and tail coordinate very well and give an a pleasing aesthetic look. I love her green gem eyes. Masquerade has a fun name - whenever I say it, I think of that song from Phantom of the Opera. Her symbols of masquerade masks are unique and fun, something different. Actually, a lot of the Twinkle Eye pony symbols are really fun and interesting; you can tell the Hasbro people (or whoever comes up with the pony designs) had a lot of fun with the designs and symbols of the Twinkle Eyes. You get a lot of variety and it’s not all dessert designs ala the Sundae Best ponies or all hair and beauty products ala the Perfume Puff or Brush and Grow ponies (and I realize those are all supposed to have a similar theme), so I really like the symbols of the Twinkle Eyes.

Just a sidenote: the Argentinian Masquerade looks so different! For one things, she’s doesn’t even have gem eyes. She’s pink with rainbow hair and in the Firefly pose. And speaking of different Masquerades, I’m sure you all know that there’s a prototype of her in the Whizzer pose, which is super weird to see since I’m so used to seeing her in Lofty pose. Even on the backcard, I noticed Masquerader is drawn in the Whizzer pose and Whizzer is drawn in the Lofty pose. Hmm… Though, I also notice that Sky Rocket, Speedy, and Sweet Pop are missing from the back card, anyone know why that is?

4. Gingerbread - White is probably my favorite color for a pony as I think any mane and tail color look good with it. Of course, we all know Gingerbread is prone to not stay her pristine white, but I still think she’s great nonetheless. Honestly, it kind of shocked me when I saw a photo of the Basic Fun Gingerbread…she was so brightly white! It almost didn’t look like her! I really love the colors in her hair. The blue, purple, light pink, and lavender go really well with her white (or off white!) body. Her blue gingerbread men cookie symbols are also really cute. No offense to Molasses, but give me Gingerbread any day!

I mentioned how the Argentinian Masquerade was different from the original, but I think Argentinian Gingerbread may even more different than original Gingerbread. At least Argentinian Masquerade is still a pegasus! Argentinian Gingerbread is a white unicorn in the Glory pose. She does not have gem eyes and she has three green gingerbread men cookies with red buttons, so they are cute in their own way and have a Christmas-y feel to them. There seems to be a few  variations of this Gingerbread: one with green hair, one with pink hair, and one with rainbow hair.

5. Tic Tac Toe - Tic Tac Toe was a childhood pony of mine. I don’t remember if I bought her or got her as a present. I kind of have a vague memory of being at Toys R Us and seeing her, but I don’t know if I got her that day or told my mom I liked her and received her as a gift later. Sometimes I wish I had kept a record of how I obtained all my ponies (I only remember a few!), but I was too young to even think about doing that and didn’t realize I would appreciate that in my older years. Oh, well! Tic Tac Toe is another Twinkle Eye with a fun symbol; fun being the operative word since she literally has a game as a symbol!

6. Quackers - I’ve really come to love Quackers. How can you not love a pony named Quackers? I mean, really? And how can you not love a pony that has a  symbol of a duck carrying an umbrella? This may be a hot take, but I think Quackers has the best symbol that is an animal….though I could be missing a really obvious awesome one! Like I mentioned before, I love white ponies and Quackers looks so pretty with her blue, green, yellow, and pink hair against her snow white body. Her colors are amazing! I can’t stand it! The pose Quackers is in is just so perfectly Quackers.  It’s a little bit quirky, it has some swagger, I can see why the pose was named after her. I kind of feel like she's the only pony that can get away with that pose!

So those are my six favorite Twinkle Eye ponies. I will now give honorable mentions to four TEs, making my top ten list complete!

Honorable mention #1: Mimic - I really do like Mimic. I think she is a beautiful color and I love how well her mane and tail colors contrasts with her greenish-yellow body. And her parrot symbol is so cute! She’s also in a pose I love. I always thought Mimic could have been a Tropical pony; she would just need a more island-y name like Maui Wowie or Island Bird or something like that.

Now of course we all know the lore behind Mimic. And I have to wonder how much truth there is to Mimic being this super rare pony. Can this even be proven? As much as I do love Mimic and think she is a beautiful pony, I could never justify paying $900 for her (which is one of the higher prices she’s going for on Ebay!) or even $333, the lowest price she’s going for on Ebay! At this moment, it looks like there are 8 Mimics on Ebay, so is she really that rare? Would people really be selling her if she was that rare? I don’t know, I sure wouldn’t! So because of all this, this is why Mimic didn’t make my main list and is only here as an honorable mention.

Honorable Mention #2: Whizzer - So, not so crazy about Whizzer’s name as it makes me think of, well, uh, somebody taking a whiz. I mean, I get what they were going for, but yeah, I guess I’m twelve, so I think of something completely different! Maybe Propeller would have been a better name? IDK! I do love her propeller beanie symbols; again the Twinkle Eye symbols are just so much fun! And I love Whizzer’s mane and tail colors! The purple, blue, and green just look so pretty on her!

Honorable mention #3: Sweet Stuff - She has gumdrop symbols! What’s not to like? (Although I’m not particularly fond of gumdrops!)  To tell you the truth, I’m kind of surprised she just wasn’t named Gumdrop! I think she’s a very pretty pony and again, I know I sound like a broken record by now, but I love her colors and her purple, pink, and white hair contrast nicely with the shade of blue she is.

Honorable mention #4: Speedy - It makes me laugh that a pony with roller skates (LOVE, by the way!) for symbols is named Speedy because I don’t necessarily equate skates with speed. I mean, I guess they can make you faster. I always thought Speedy was in the animated series because there was a fast-talking pony, but I learned (from this forum!) that it was actually Whizzer. I’m not the biggest fan or orange ponies, but I like Speedy’s hair colors (blue, white, yellow, and purple) with her orange.

Okay, there you have it! My favorite Twinkle Eyes. Can't wait to see who yours all are!

Pony Corral / A look at yellow ponies
« on: September 22, 2021, 03:42:47 PM »
When I say yellow ponies in the subject, I mean ponies that are intentionally yellow, not ponies that have yellowed. Just so we're clear

I’ve been doing some “light” research on yellow ponies. One of my most interesting findings is that yellow unicorns are *very* rare. There are more than plenty of yellow earth ponies and a good handful of yellow pegasus ponies, but the first yellow unicorn (and only adult unicorn!) I came across is Red Roses from the Perfume Puff Pony line from year 7. Also, in year 7, is yellow baby unicorn Baby Lucky Leaf and Baby Gusty, the baby sparkle pony, (no relation at all to white unicorn Gusty) the following year.

Now there is a yellow Moondancer, but I believe she is a Nirvana. It’s just super surprising to me that there’s only one yellow adult unicorn. I don’t know if this was intentional or they got to year 7 and realized they never made a yellow unicorn, so Red Roses got that honor, or what. And yellow seems to be a pretty popular color for a pony. More popular, than say, orange and green and we saw both an orange and green unicorn (Speedy and Fizzy) before we ever saw a yellow one!

My favorite mane and tail color combinations with yellow is pink (the aforementioned Red Roses and Posey) and I prefer this color combination than the reverse. Also, while green hair is not always my favorite mane/tail color for a pony (hi, Raspberry Jam and Sunnybunch), I think the combination of a yellow pony with green hair is aesthetically pleasing (Masquerade, Magic Star, Lemon Treats, Cascade (who I much prefer to her U.S. counterpart, Sprinkles), Tutti Fruitti, and Wind Drifter among others (I’m sure there’s a few others I forgot to mention). Tootie Tails with her yellow, green, and pink hair and pineapple symbol is one of my favorite yellow ponies. Sand Digger is quite the stunning yellow pony with her aqua-colored hair. She's the only yellow pony I can think of who has that color hair.

Yellow ponies with purple hair give me an Easter vibe (Lemon Drop, Twinkle Dancer), but I prefer that color combination than the reverse. I don't know why, but I'm not a big fan of purple ponies with yellow hair. I can’t help but think of McDonalds when I see Diamond Dreams or Sunburst, the two yellow ponies with bright red hair.

A special shout out to Lofty and Dancing Butterflies, the two yellow monochromatic ponies (although there is plenty of pink and blue on Dancing Butterflies so I don't know if she applies as being truly monochromatic!)

Who are your favorite yellow ponies? What color mane/tail combination do you like with yellow pony? Any particular shade of yellow you don't like on a pony?

Pony Corral / I rank Play 'n Wear outfits (again!)
« on: August 23, 2021, 11:26:27 AM »
Now that I have (the very nearly complete) collection of Play and Wear Pony Wear, I thought I would rank it. This is my second time ranking the six outfits. You can find my first ranking here:

http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,400111.msg1835355.html#msg1835355

Now, when I ranked these six outfits the first time, I only had one and a half of the outfits, so my opinion has changed somewhat! These were really hard to rank because this is my favorite Pony Wear collection. I really do love all the outfits, so even if something is ranked 5th or last, I really do love it.

Here is a link to the outfits so you can see what I’m talking about:
http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Pony_Wear#Play_.27n.27_Wear

1. Pony Holiday - When I did my Costume Wear re-ranking, I originally had Pony-Naut at #1, but it went all the way to last place in my re-ranking. In this case, it’s the opposite. In my original ranking, I had Pony Holiday ranked last because it came with the least exciting accessory, a suitcase. Which, yes, probably is true, but now that I own this ensemble and have seen it up close and personal, I absolutely love it! (BTW, get ready for me to say that several more times!) And I just had to rank it at #1. The pink floral print on the yellow dress is such a delightful pattern and the pink trim really adds to the dress. The minute I saw this complete outfit on ebay, I immediately bought it because before then I had only seen the dress with the shoes. Sometimes the suitcase was with it, sometimes not. But I NEVER saw the straw hat with the ribbon, which is my favorite feature! That hat is *chef’s kiss*. I think it might be my favorite hat from a Pony Wear outfit. I can see why so many of these for sale didn’t feature the hat - it does seem quite fragile! Mine is in pretty good shape, but it’s not perfect. The suitcase actually opens, which I did not realize! It is a very cute feature, however, I will not open mine anymore! I did it once when I first got it and I heard this terrible crack. Luckily, it didn’t break, but I’m afraid if I open it again, it will break for sure! So that sucker is staying closed. I imagine this is why the suitcase often isn’t with the dress because I’m sure many of them broke in half! The backcard artwork of Surprise wearing this outfit with a cruise ship in the background is so adorable.

2. Get Into the Groove - I’m so happy to now have the complete collection of this fun and colorful outfit. I only had the dress and shoes, (this was the only outfit from this collection I had as a child), but was finally able to get the complete ensemble with the radio, socks, and even the hard to find hairlip. Yay, me! Yay, stimulus checks that helped pay for all of this! While the socks are cute and add to the outfit and make it unique, I’m glad this is the only G1 pony outfit with socks because they are a bit of a pain to put on and putting shoes on ponies WITHOUT socks can be hassle enough! The green plastic stereo has a strap so theoretically you could put it around your pony’s neck, but I refuse to do so in fear the strap is going to break because the strap seems awfully tight, so I just placed the radio in front of my pony. The backcard artwork of Moondance dancing in this outfit is another adorable illustration. I think the Pony Wear backcard illustrations are some of my favorites.

3. Hit the Slopes- I absolutely love this! (Told you I was going to keep saying that!)  I used to ski every year with my family in Colorado when I was a kid/teen, so I think that’s why I love this outfit with the pink snow suit, ski goggles, purple skis, and colorful hat. I’m so happy I was able to find mine with the goggles. Also, I assumed the hind leg would snap into place in the ski (you know, like an actual ski!), but there’s a lot of room when you put your ponies’ leg in it. In other words, it doesn’t fit like a shoe. I feel like this needed a sweater to complete the look.

4. Pretty as a Picture - Even though we are now at the bottom three of the outfits in this collection, I still really love this outfit so much; that’s how hard it was for me to rank all of these! When I bought this from e-Bay, I was lucky to get the whole ensemble for a good price. I had seen it before without the paint palette and paint brush and almost bought it, but held off and waited for the whole ensemble and I only paid a few dollars more and it was definitely worth it. Even though the pony can’t hold the accessories (although you can put the paintbrush in the pocket of the shirt), they really help complete the ensemble which consists of a white smock with paint splotches all over it (so cute), blue pants, a red beret, and four red shoes that give the outfit that extra pop of color. This is the first outfit where I’ve had pants for my pony and I love that there’s a little hold to stick the tail through! Makes sense, though. You wouldn’t want to have your tail bunched up in your pants if you were a pants-wearin’ pony!  The only thing that could make this outfit even more complete is if it came with an easel with a half-finished painting. Even Bowtie in the backcard illustration is painting on an easel (thought it would look pretty silly if she didn’t have one!)

5. Milk and Cookies - This is an adorable nightgown and nightcap with dogs, cats, and teddy bears (random combination!) printed on them. I actually thought they were frogs at first because they’re green, but then I read a description and looked closer at the photo. (That was before I owned it). As far as pony pajamas go, I like it better than the Sweetness and Lace nightgown from the Pony Wear with Jewelry collection (that one looks too much like lingerie for my taste!), but I like the Sweet Dreams pink pajamas with slippers and bonnet a bit more than this one (though that could be due to nostalgia since that was one of my first childhood Pony Wear outfits).  It comes with a pillow and blanket as well as a glass of milk and a plate with three cookies, hence the name. The glass of milk looks very small and I can only image it often got lost. I don’t see this outfit (or any of the complete Play and Wear outfits, for that matter) for sale that often, especially with everything that comes with it. I have only seen the complete collection once. I see it more with the blanket and pillow, but very rarely with the cookies and milk. That makes sense since they’re so small, I’m sure many kids lost them. I do have this outfit with the pillow and blanket (though the pillow is not the original one, but it is white-and-yellow striped, so it matches the blanket). Perhaps if I did have the complete outfit (it’s the only outfit in this collection where I don’t have all the accessories), it might be higher, but I’m not sure because I love all the outfits above it. But I love this one too…why does this collection have so many cute outfits? Speaking of cute…I love the backcard illustration of Posey with a cookie in her mouth.

6. Sidewalk Surfer - Okay, hear me out. When I say I love every outfit in this collection, I absolutely mean it and this one is no exception even if it is ranked last. But, unfortunately, something had to be ranked last. Mainly, the only reason I have this ranked last is because the iridescent red dress is super delicate and I can only assume many of them were ripped not with just rough play, but with gentle play as well! I’m not really sure what material the dress is made out of, but it kind of feels like tissue papers, perhaps a littler thicker, but not by much. The dress is super cool, don’t get me wrong, but what were they thinking making a Pony Wear dress out of super delicate material? They had to know that was a terrible idea! It’s no wonder I hardly see this dress ever, so when I did see it, I snagged it (and for a bit of a steep price, I might add!) I didn’t mind what I paid for it TOO MUCH because I did get all the accessories with it…if it was just the dress and some of the accessories, no way I would have gotten it. And I’m sure that’s why it was a little on the expensive side. The ensemble also includes a gold visor, gold knee pads (and, yes, I got both of them!), red plastic headphones (though they don’t technically go over the ears, they mostly stay right behind the eyes), and red plastic skateboard. The skateboard has rolling wheels which is really cool. Like the skis that come with Hit the Slopes, there’s a mold to place your pony’s hind leg in the skate, so they can ride on the skateboard. I have Lickety-Split riding the skateboard and her pose works very  well with it because it looks like she’s pushing off with her back leg.

How would you rank these? Or if that's too difficult a task (I would understand!),  which one is your favorite?

Pony Corral / Would You Rather MLP question
« on: July 30, 2021, 06:38:45 PM »
Okay, I have a "Would You Rather" question, I thought of the other day and thought I would ask because I was curious.

You can only choose ONE of the following. No finding any loopholes!

Would you rather collect G1 only but you CANNOT collect any of the other generations?

OR

Would you rather collect all other generations but you CANNOT collect anything G1 at all?

I'm sure this will be simple for some, and agonizing for others! For me, it is simple. I only collect G1. Give me my vintage MLP.

Pony Corral / I rank Costume Wear (again!)
« on: June 23, 2021, 11:51:14 AM »
I am back to rank the Costume Wear again. When I first did it, about six months ago, I only had one outfit (incomplete) and just based the rankings on photos of the Pony Costume Wear. Now I have obtained all six (COMPLETE!) outfits and I am ready to rank again. This time my ranking is quite different! You can find my original ranking here: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,400116.msg1835356.html#msg1835356

And for reference, here are the outfits for Costume Wear: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Pony_Wear#Costume_Wear

1. In the Center Ring - I probably paid a wee bit more for this than I wanted to (thank God for those COVID relief checks, am I right? I was also one of the lucky ones who was able to keep my job during the pandemic, so it wasn’t like I didn’t have a steady paycheck and was blowing my stimulus on unnecessaries like Pony Wear!), but I’m very happy to have finally obtained this (seemingly rare) Costume Wear. I love everything about it: the bodysuit with the silver, blue, and pink threads and gold trim; the lace cape (though wouldn’t a cape go over the shoulders? This goes around the pony’s waist; most like a skirt, but whatever); the gold carnival mask (so cool!) and the headpiece with the pink and purple plumes. The material the plumes are made out of feel like the same material those troll dolls’ hair are made out of. This is a fun circus-themed outfit. It almost seems the most costume-y out of the six outfits; the others are more career outfits than costumes. I also love Parade Pizazz from the original Pony Wear line and this outfit feels like it could be in the same collection as that one.

2. Galaxy Glamour - When I first ranked this, I had it ranked second right after Pony-Naut because I didn’t think it would make any sense to separate them since they are very similar outfits. However, that isn’t the case anymore, but I’ll talk about that more when I get to Pony-naut.

3. Academy Awards - This seems like it would fit more with the Pony Wear with Jewelry collection, but since there’s no jewelry, it’s not in that collection. (I guess the movie star Pony outfit from that line would be Lights, Camera, Action). This is my favorite fancy dress for a pony (to be fair, I only have one outfit from the Jewelry collection). This dress has a very Old Hollywood feel to it. I love the look, style, and colors of this dress. It’s silver with blue and fuchsia ruffles on the skirt and there’s a matching collar as well. I love the headpiece that looks like a lace-covered beret. I kind of have it precariously placed on my pony’s head because it just has a little tie attached to it, like you’re supposed to tie it around your pony’s front locks. I wish it were a little more accessible to place on your pony’s head. Well, as long as I don’t move my pony around too much, it should stay on!

4. Abra-Ca-Dabra - This is really cute and also feels like a costume. I was lucky that I got all the pieces (for a very reasonable price, too, I might add) including the little hair piece (and I mean little! I did have a hell of a time trying to get it in Sunbeam’s mane). I like the teal color of the outfit and the sheer material seems different from other materials Pony Wear is made of. The gold slippers with the curled toes are cute, but they were also a bitch to put on.

5. Rockin’ the Night Away - Aurgh, I hate that I have this so low because I really do think this is cute. I actually really love every outfit in this collection (except maybe my last ranked one!) This one comes with two fuchsia colored shoes that go on the back hooves and two tie-dye “gloves” that go on the pony’s front hooves. This is a bit odd to me and I would have proffered all the shoes to be the same (preferably the rubber shoes in a tie-dye color; that would have been cool). One of the “gloves” (let’s face it, it’s more of a slipper) I got is a little stretched out so it doesn’t really fit my pony’s front hoove too well. When I got this outfit from E-bay, it didn’t come with the pants but I bought it anyway because I thought the outfit could work without the pants. However, I was able to find the pants on Etsy and am happy the outfit is complete because it does look better. It’s amazing what a pair of pants can do! The ribbon attached to the guitar is broken so I’m not able to put it around my pony’s neck, but even if it was still connected, I don’t think it would have fit.

6. Pony-Naut - When I first made this ranking, I had this as my #1 for Pony Costume Wear! But that was solely due to nostalgia as it was the only outfit I had from this collection in my childhood. I didn’t own any of the other five until this year! I also complained a bit that I didn’t understand why there were two outfits so similar in the same collection, but I think Galaxy Glamour is astronomically (heh) better. Both outfits are obviously space-themed and have the silver shoes (which are also the same shoes that come with Academy Awards) and are made of the same silver and gold satin-y material. There is more gold used in Galaxy Glamour. However, what makes Galaxy Glamour heaps and bounds better than Pony-Naut (IMO) is that it comes with pants which helps complete the outfit. Pony-Naut does not have pants and it feels incomplete. Both outfits come with something that straps onto the ponys’ back. With Pony-Naut, it’s a flat backpack which I don’t understand how that goes with an astronaut suit. I get that it’s supposed to be like the packs you see on the backs of astronauts, but this feels more like a backpack purse! Galaxy Glamour has a jet pack that has stuffing in it so it’s more puffed up and doesn’t lie flat on the pony’s back. The silver streamers coming out of the end of it is also a nice touch. The most annoying feature about Pony-Naut is that damn plastic helmet. Sure, in theory it’s cool because there’s no other Pony Wear that has a helmet and maybe if the Pony-Naut outfit came with a pair of pants, this outfit would look complete with the helmet. But…I hate this damn helmet! I should say that I was able to obtain the complete outfit since I noted in my original post that I had lost the helmet in my childhood. It’s not hard to see why I lost it - the dang thing won’t stay on my pony. Every time I move her or pick her up, the helmet never stays on. At the moment, I have the outfit on Tic Tac Toe and I’m not sure if there’s a better pony pose where the helmet will stay secure. Not to mention, the helmet just looks clunky and awkward on the pony. I have noticed on the Wiki photo of Sky Rocket wearing Pony-Naut, the neck of the outfit is fitted around the helmet and this is the only instance of a pony wearing this outfit where it doesn’t look too bad (besides the fact that the pony isn’t wearing any pants!) I tried doing that, but it didn’t work. I don’t have any pony in the Gingerbread pose, so I wasn’t able to try to see if it worked better on a pony with that pose. I get what they were trying to go for and I know NASA and space exploration were popular in the ‘80s, but I wish they had included pants and made a way for the helmet to not look so awkward. Or they should have just stuck with one space-themed Pony Wear and done something else entirely for the sixth look.

I am very excited because I now have all the Play ’n Wear outfits, so I plan to re-rank those in the future. That’s going to be especially difficult because I love all those outfits!

Pony Brag Arena / Pony Wear Brag! Update: new outfits!
« on: March 25, 2021, 04:38:28 PM »
As you may or may not know, I absolutely love Pony Wear and have started collecting outfits for my ponies to wear. Right now I have 25 outfits! I won't be sharing all of them (however if you want, I can post a group photo of all the outfits being modeled), but rather a few I've acquired lately that I have been wanting and am so happy to have.

Spoiler
Getting outfits from the Play 'n Wear Line and Costume Wear is a top priority of mine, so I'm happy to have come across the following:

Hit the Slopes is adorable and probably in my top five (if not even higher!) of all time Pony Wear:

While I didn't get the milk and cookies (ironically) to the Milk 'n Cookies ensemble, I did get the blanket and pillow. The pillow isn't the original pillow and to be truthful, I'm not even sure if the blanket is, but they still work with the pajamas:

Abracadabra! I was lucky to get all the pieces, including the hair piece which was kind of a pain to get on:

Rockin' the Night Away! I like how Twilight's purple streak in her mane matches the purple shirt:

Galaxy Glamour:

Pony Workout is another one of my all time favorites. I just got it today and I love it. I also made sure I got one that still had the red and gold stars on the front of the sweatshirt! That was a must for me! I want a hoodie like that for me! I would wear it all the time!

I got Ready for Rainbows on a rainy day and was tempted to take a photo of Surprise wearing it outside, but decided against it. The galoshes are sooo cute. The only thing thing that would make this even cuter would be an umbrella, but then I guess that would defeat the purpose of the hat!

I probably paid a wee bit much for Hearts and Candy, but I wanted it with the heart pendant! I got this one right before Valentine's Day, so perfect timing!

I've had Parade Pizzazz and Strike Up the Band for a few months now, but they're also in my top tier of Pony Wear, so I had to share my pics of them too:

UPDATE: I have new Pony Wear outfits to share! Whoo hoo! I am so excited! I love Pony Wear so much! The best part is, with the new additions I got, I now have the complete Costume Wear Collection and the complete Play 'n Wear collection! I already did a re-ranking of Costume Wear and plan to rank Play 'n Wear again in the future (which is going to be very difficult since that's my favorite Pony Wear collection).

Spoiler

I apologize for how big these are!

From the Costume Wear Collection:

Academy Awards:
I especially love the hat/mane piece

In the Center Ring:
This is my favorite outfit from this collection

Pony-Naut:
If you already read my Costume Wear rankings, you know this is my least favorite from this collection! It just doesn't look right without pants and that helmet looks so awkward!

Get Into the Groove:
I had this as part of my childhood collection, but I lost the socks hairpiece, and radio, so I'm happy to have the complete outfit now

Trader & Shipping Support / "Damaged by Mechanical Equipment"
« on: March 17, 2021, 07:10:03 PM »
Has this ever happened to anybody? Not that long ago I received some pony mail and on the package was a sticker that read "Damaged by mechanical equipment. Please accept our apology. US Postal Service." I provided a picture of it in the link. Now, of course this made me extremely nervous when I read that! The package wasn't torn, though, just slightly dirty, perhaps. Also, luckily, my items weren't ruined and were perfectly fine. I had some pony wear that didn't contain any shoes or extra pieces. It was all flat fabric pieces.

However, I have to wonder, IF my mail had been damaged, what could I have done? I couldn't blame it on the seller because the USPS took responsibility. Would I have just lost my money AND what I paid for? Has this kind of thing ever happened to anybody and what did you do? I feel extremely lucky that nothing was damaged...still not sure what happened during the process of this pony mail!

Trader & Shipping Support / Ebay says I was using profanity when I wasn't
« on: January 05, 2021, 08:28:42 PM »
So this is something weird that happened just moments ago....

I was on ebay, giving positive feedback for an item I received today. This is what I wrote: "Easy transaction, good communication, fast shipper, very happy with my items."

And when I went to submit, in red bold letters I get this message under the box where I wrote my message: We don't allow profanity on ebay. Please revise your comment.

So I look over my message, thinking maybe I said "shi**er" instead of shipper, but nope, everything I wrote looked fine...I have no clue why it said there was profanity....am I missing something? I did try to submit it again, but it still wouldn't do it. In the end, I closed Ebay, got back on and wrote something like "Thank you so much, very happy with my items,  A+ seller" and that one went through.

Isn't that weird?

Pony Corral / Ranking Costume Wear
« on: November 14, 2020, 06:27:06 PM »
Today I will be ranking the Costume Wear collection.
http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Pony_Wear#Costume_Wear

1. Pony-Naut - I had this as a kid (and still do even though I’m missing the helmet and one of the shoes) and remember Galaxy wearing this the most as it seemed the most appropriate for her. I’m not sure if the helmet fit over her horn or not. To tell the truth, I really don’t remember ever using the helmet so it must have broken or gotten lost pretty early on (I’m guessing it was the former). The astronaut suit is made out of a shiny silver material, like lame perhaps? (Pretend there’s an accent over the e). It was trimmed in gold and came with a silver and gold backpack which I’m guessing is supposed to be akin to what astronauts’ wear on their backs…even though this looks more like a backpack purse! This outfit really doesn’t work as well without the helmet. Something seems….off about it without it. But when it’s complete, it’s one of the cutest outfits in the pony line…even though there are no pants!

2. Galaxy Glamour - At first I was going to rank this last in this category because it didn’t make sense that there would be two very similar outfits. After all, this one is made out of the same material as the Pony-Naut spacesuit (although this one has more gold), it has the same silver shoes, and this one comes with a rocket pack instead of a backpack (which I personally prefer). This one does have pants, but is lacking the helmet. However, since this outfit is so similar to Pony-Naut, which I ranked first, it only seemed right to rank this as #2. Still don’t understand why two similar outfits are in the same collection, though!

3. In the Center Ring - This is a fun circus-themed outfit. There’s a silver bodysuit made out of mesh(?) with gold trim and a cape. My favorite part of the costume is the gold carnival mask and the headpiece with pink and purple plumes. Four pink shoes complete the look. This kinda reminds me of a cousin to the Parade Pizazz look (I think it’s the plumes).

4. Academy Awards - “And the Oscar goes to…” I really love this silver dress with the blue and pink ruffles. The silhouette of the dress may be my favorite style out of all the pony dresses…just maybe. The pink hat that looks like a beret with the blue mesh is very old Hollywood glamour.

5. Abra-Ca-Dabra - I don’t know if this outfit could be sold in this day and age because it may not be deemed culturally appropriate (just like I doubt Wigwam and his headdress would be sold in today’s market), but I have to say I do think it is pretty cute. There are teal genie pants, four gold slippers that could only be described as elf shoes with the curled toes, a sheer aqua top with a matching veil, and a hair tie for the pony’s mane (or tail, I guess) that I can only assume got lost more often than not.

6. Rockin’ the Night Away - This is for a rock star pony. The costume kinda reminds me of something Elton John would wear, although he plays the piano, not the guitar. I put this last because I don’t like tie-dye. It has a purple satin shirt with a tie-dye (or what appears to be tie-dye) collar and two tie-dye slippers (which are referred to as “gloves” on the package, but really they’re slippers) and two regular purple shoes. The finishing look is a glittery guitar (how very 2009 Taylor Swift) with a strap you can put around your pony’s neck.

Thank you for reading all my Pony Wear rankings. Hope you enjoyed them!
