Pony Brag Arena / Re: Poor Princes Moondust :(
« on: March 02, 2012, 09:29:29 PM »
That's good news, I'm glad she found a home with someone who appreciates her for the survivor she is.  Finding any G1 pony second hand these days is a rarity. Why would anyone use her as a write board, I have no idea.    Poor little pony.  You should to keep the Arena apprised of her restoration progress!

Poor Moondust, what a shame.  :yikes:
Perhaps you can sun fade the worst of it out, or try hydrogen peroxide + UV?

Customs / Re: Customizing Sweetheart Sister ponies??
« on: March 02, 2012, 08:57:49 PM »
I might do a custom from my Spring Song but I don't know how rare she is.  Cause if she rare I don't want to take her apart since she's in such great condition that she's only missing her hair bow.

Any G1 pony in great condition is rare nowadays - it would probably be kinder to trade her off to a collector if she's still lovely.  None of the SHS ponies are very common.

That Cherries Jubilee SHS is particularly lovely, pinkkittywinks.

Wanted! / Baby Sugarberry's G1 Wishlist
« on: March 02, 2012, 08:51:56 PM »
Condition:
I am not an ultra-picky collector; I don't buy ultra-high priced mint ponies.  I know that ponies are kid's toys, and more often than not show signs of being loved over the years.

The only flaws I am not willing to accept (except perhaps on some bargain priced rares/mail orders) are: mold (aka "cancer", brown spots inside plastic), major chews/missing body parts, obvious pen/highlighter, serious head/body mismatch / body staining.

Hair condition / rehairs don't bother me in the slightest, I'll happily fix up an otherwise fine pony who's gotten hair chopped. Exceptions would be Perfume Puffs, Scribbles/Dabbles, Brush n' Grow, etc. since getting replacement hair for them isn't feasible.  Loose heads are actually preferred.

I only collect G1.  Please don't offer my any G2, G3, G3.5 or G4 items. =3

Are you Buying Right Now?:
Potentially, so long as it's ponies/items under 20$.  Canadian customs are pretty steep so I'd prefer to stay under 20$ value, or order within Canada.  I realize many of these aren't under 20$, which means I'm not buying them for now.  Exceptions may be made for particularly HTF ponies in lots.

Trades:
Yes, I'd love to trade!  I still have to get my extra stuff inventoried, though.  I've been out of the community for over a decade now, so my only feedback is purchases.  Willing to send first to those with established trade rep.

Introductions / Re: An Oldie Moldy Returnith

I am indeed going to try to finish my G1 collection (at least the retail releases, The few mail orders that run into the triple digits are out of my comfort zone), though I think  my bank account is going to hate me for it anyways.  Ordering a Mimic put a hefty dent in my pony budget.

I still have to go through my old trade/bait bins and see what's salvageable.  Ponies didn't use to be quite so pricey... I remember the days where you practically had to give away perfume puff ponies, and most people didn't want Sweetheart Sisters either.

Which reminds me, I need to trot on over to the Wanted section and put up my lists, and see if I have anything to offer lovesbabysquirmy for that Baby Splashes on her trade list....
So much to do.  :drunk:

The toys of one's own childhood always hold a special place in our hearts, I think.  n_n
I appreciate the other gens for keeping the pony spirit alive, though, in whatever form it may be.

That welcome would be better appreciated if you weren't spamming everyone with that exact line over and over, mlpfan...
Thank you for the welcome, Sea_Breeze!  Hopefully there are more real people around. *shakes the rafters*  Come on out, I don't bite, promise!  Would especially love to meet some fellow Canadian collectors.

If you only have a handful, odds are you won't see one like this. I've unglued hundreds of ponies, and so far I've had just one with this issue. It's not common by any means.  It's not an issue with SHS specifically.

I had something similar happen with a G1 Sky Flier.  Tried to pry her head off and the neck ring stayed inside.  My personal theory has to do with a flaw in how the pony's head was made - rotational casting I believe? In any case, sometimes the plastic isn't evenly distributed in the mould and the strength of the glue far outweighs that of the thin edge between head and neck ring.  Attempting to pry off the head or cut it off separates the two, leaving the ring in the body cavity (may not be very obvious due to thin top edge).

As soon as there's some decent sun up here (March in Canada isn't exactly very bright) I'm dying to try some sunfading/hydrogen peroxide cleaning on some of my poor dingy gals!

Thank you for the help. ^_^ Quite understandable you wouldn't want doubles running around.

No, I don't believe I had an older account here (if I did, it would have been registered under the current email for this account; if you want to check, I certainly don't mind!)  That said, my memory's not known to be perfect (whos is). I remember having a My Little Pony Trading Post account simply eons ago, but I don't think I ever joined the Arena.

Pony Corral / Re: Unpopular Pony Opinions?
« on: March 02, 2012, 01:11:10 PM »
I'm not terribly picky over my pony's condition; I think shorter manes often look cute and charming on them.

Not a big fan of most customs, I find them overdone with rhinestones, apoxie sculpt wings, a bajillion miles of hair and extensive paint work (don't get me started on the bedroom eyes...)  I appreciate the talent, but don't care for the end result.

Introductions / An Oldie Moldy Returnith
« on: March 02, 2012, 12:58:23 PM »
Greetings and salutations, fellow collectors!

Why am I an oldie moldy?  Well the last time I participated in the pony community, MLPTP had just opened, there was still more than one popular search engine, and everyone was expected to choose a unique pony name for themselves. *chuckles* There were more than enough to go around at the time.

(Anyone remember the Pony Name Registry, perchance? and webrings? How frames caused problems on a lot of sites? My Little Pony Monthly via email?)

So what do I have in my stable?
I collect G1 exclusively, though I do adopt lost and orphaned G3's when I come across them.  I do not actively collect the G2, G3 or G4 toys; to me, G1 will always be the "real" ponies of my childhood.  I'm missing about 30 ponies from the retail Can/US release, and another twenty-some odd mail orders.

I've been lurking around for a while, buying a few things here and there, and figured it was about time to introduce myself, so here I am.  :silly:

Looking forward to trading with all of you, like old times!
