Title: Pony fishing (or, how not to sunfade your MLP)
Post by: Enolaalone on July 23, 2012, 01:29:57 AM
Okay, so yesterday it was lovely and sunny so I was sunfading my Bunny Hop #1 who is covered in pink highlighter. Since it was *so* sunny I thought I would open the window and put her on the window ledge so she would actually get real sun, not just the sun through the window.

I'm sure you can see where this is going.

It was a little windy and when I went to check on her she had disappeared.  I live in the top floor flat of a house that's been converted, so essentially I live in an attic. About 7ft down from my window is a small balcony type thing, on which Bunny Hop was lying. Poor Bunny Hop.

After some amount of panicking and texting my boyfriend for ideas I decided to see if I could go pony fishing out of my window with a ball of string. I made a loop in one end of the string and then practised fishing with Bunny Hop #2 in my living room. (Now I don't seem so mad for having multiple Bunny Hops...) Luckily, due to the funny shape of her back legs, if you get a loop around one of them she balances, so you don't have to make one that tightens or anything fancy like that.

So I leant out of the window with my loop on my string and tried to get it around the appropriate leg. The wind kept blowing and the string was pretty light so it was hard to manoeuvre, but eventually I managed to get it around the leg! I spent the whole time pulling her up convinced that she was going to fall just before I could grab her, but luckily she carried on balancing just fine & was safely delivered back into my flat. Hurrah!

I hope if anyone saw me pony fishing out of the window they at least got a laugh out of it. Haha.

Anyone else got any weird pony adventures?

I kinda died from the mental image of someone pony fishing. I would be an awful neighbor and be all "awww" then giggle the entire time.

I don't think anyone saw... hard to tell really.  :satisfied: I did think when it first happened 'oh, I have three other Bunny Hops and she was in the worst condition... it shouldn't really matter if I can't get her back' and then I got the string and I was all like NO PONY LEFT BEHIND OMG!

Lol. Glad she was rescued. You must live in one of those places that doesn't believe in screens on the windows?

Well I live in a converted house, not a block of flats sort of thing, and no houses around here have screens on the windows. IDK, that might be more of an American thing?

lol! It's true, here in the states we demand the ability to have our windows open and not get bugs in the house at the same time! XD

I would actually really appreciate that right now as there are, like, a million flies in my flat right now :(

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Wow, this made my day! This seems like something I would do. Oh my god.. that's just too cute! I'm glad you got her back! If I was there, I would have totally helped you fish for her! Reminds me when my brother and I used to play basket ball and it would bounce over the fence where this HUGE dog lived. He was crazy enough to hop the fence and run over and get the ball. One time the neighbor let the dog out and he JUST barely made it over the fence. Good times.. lol

That is adorable! Little bunny will sure have a story to tell the other ponies, "and just when i was out of hope, and i accepted my fate. A mysterius rope pulled me to safety" once i did get a pony stuck behind a bookcase, poor little twilight sparkle learned th dangers of reading, lol

Flies are EVIL!  lol I saw a little wuote in a book I have:

God in his wisdom
Created the fly
And then forgot
To tell us why.

That makes me chuckle.  XD

Haha yes, I hope that's what happened. I felt bad that after I'd rescued her from a previous life of being drawn on and having her pocket pulled off and her hair all knotty and faded, she thought she was safe & then she fell it of the window!

Aw! Poor Twilight Sparkle. At least she is safe now too :)

Lol! What a cute story and what an adventure for Bunny Hop! I love the fact you called for advice...that is so what I would do as well.

It would also have been funny if your downstairs neighbour had found Bunny Hop randomly on their balcony :P They would have think it was raining ponies when they were out!

Well to begin with I thought the only option was going up from the ground, so we would need a ladder. And to be honest, I'm afraid of heights, so my SO would need a ladder! But then I tired string & after several attempts I did succeed :D

I did think that. I also wondered if they would notice me dangling string past their window...

Glad you were able to get her back!  I think the worst part would be know she's down there, cold and alone if you didn't get her!  ;D

When taking photos, I'm always terrified when I stick a pony on a ledge, even if its really wide.  Sometimes though, its the only way to get a good shot!
