How do you organize your collection?

Mine are two answers: set and other...

I have the TAFs and TEs together.. then the rest are just my childhood ponies and new ponies all mingled together!

I think we need more pictures in this thread to help people like me figure it out! 

I need to buy another Billy bookcase from IKEA as my second is almost full, and then need to start organizing. I do leave the top 2 shelves in each bookcase for customs. I think I might try going buy set and just take out moms that have babies. Guess we'll see how it looks when I try it!

I organize them mainly by season. I don't have a great many ponies but I do collect three generations of them. I had pretty much all of them out (in front of the books on my bookshelves mostly) at first but as I bought more it got to be too cluttered. So I now put them in my seasonal boxes and rotate them out as the months go by.

I have some of my childhood favorites out always and some of my new favorites as well but then I have flower themed ponies out in spring, frozen treat themed ponies for summer and so on. Of course specific ponies like Easter, birthday etc. come out for their special holidays. It's a weird way to organize, I admit it, but I guess it amuses me to decorate with ponies.

I totally forgot I was going to do themed shelves! I'm doing a subtle Harry Potter theme, so I was going to take 4 of the new shelves and theme them to the Hogwarts Houses, including ponies with matching colours (which is really just the main 4...guess Gryffindor will be more pink than red, LOL).

First by year and then by set for the G1s. G2s are all just put together on one shelf. The G3s are done by year but all mixed in together versus putting them in release sets. And the G4s are all over the place.

With my OCD, it's easier on me to organize them by set. Once I've all my display cabinets built (and hopefully am able to move them into the basement to make me stop worrying quite so much about tornados), my plan is to organize them by Year:Set, simply because it's easier for me to keep track of them, and I tend to be that particular (*cough*OCD*cough*). I'll probably put what few Nirvanas I have all together regardless of set, though. That should also be easier.

I have a cascading minature shelf that I put all the same poses on.  Then in the front row I put my favourite rainbow and glow in the dark ones.

I organize mine by set and year!    But I'll bet organizing by pose is most space-efficient.

My ponies are generally grouped by when they were released, but I do have a shelf of all baby ponies, and I have one deeper shelf for playsets, and I always have some ponies displayed there too. Just whoever I feel like putting out more prominently at the moment.

I do mine by pose and each curio has a different generation in it. Nothing really to exciting or special.

I don't have much of an order, honestly. I do like to keep all my generations together. I don't mix those together, they all have separate homes. But that's kinda where my organization stops. From there I kinda just place ponies together that look appealing to my eye and make me happy to look at. Sometimes this means by pose, other times it means by color. I just play around until I like what I see. But good luck!

It would be quite a stretch to call what I do organizing!

In my glass door cabinet:
- Top shelf: All the Sundances! Plus a few of my favorite dolls.
- Middle shelf: Favorite G1s, other G1s, my one non-Sundance G2, and another doll
- Bottom shelf: Quarantine G1s, with issues ranging from cancer to smooze to severe head-body mismatch to headless.
- Wood drawers: G3s, G1/2/3 accessories, mostly G3 playset pieces

In my super ghetto saran wrap shelves:
- Top shelf: My Pretty Pony, two special Birthflowers, and a couple other favorites
- Bottom shelf: Customs (to protect from light) and my very favorite G1s, G4s, and G4 blind bags. The proud home of factory errors, gifts, Nirvanas, and other sentimental ponies.
