I personally love that the ponies transformed into girls for a while. I enjoyed the movie and I've bought some dolls and I hardly buy anything g4. I really like those bigger eyes better, though.

I disagree. Their personalities are pretty much the same and it's not as if the mane six got different body types or anything like that. I agree that the fashions don't always fit the character but in the end the show and characters look rather cute. I don't think they look as "sexy" or "edgy" as some other fashion dolls. To me, the cutie marks and ears/wings do connect them to MLP too.
I also don't get the whole "ponies can't be humans" stuff. We have seen humans in MLP and we have had different kinds of "MLP animals". So not sure why everyone is making such a big deal out of this concept. I don't think this is the first time MLP got inspired by another toy brand either.
It's as if pony fashion dolls are something sacrileges.

Well honestly if you don't like them, don't buy them. I don't understand what the big deal is that they exist, it's not like hasbro ditched everything else and said "Screw it, you get no more ponies, just dolls, deal with it!"

And before you say "But they are releasing more new dolls than brushables!" So? They release more blind bags than Brushables, what's new? Everyone likes something different, and to talk or think as if EQG dolls are bad because they're not to your taste is sad. Of course I barely read more than 2 posts here so who knows.

I personally wish they didn't chance the arm molds on the new dolls, make the arm and leg plastics so shiny and hard, and make them have feet, but hey, opinions. I still like them, a lot.

It sounds silly to say but her expression is like a "cartoon" doll [literally] which is not really going to work for the fashion doll aisle. Can you imagine a row of these dolls with eyes half the size of your head staring at you? I cant imagine them being too popular with their actual target market that way.

Well, it's not like the ponies themselves are in any way anatomically "accurate," and they're still popular. Most fashion dolls aren't either! So I'm not really sure why making these look like the actual characters would be unpopular. I mean, the whole appeal of them is supposed to be that they're human versions of the ponies, not just random fashion dolls.

In the first part of the quote you part quoted, I did mentioned that I know they are not supposed to be anatomically correct Considering the current G4 line looks more like deer than ponies it would be pretty contradictory of me to want something in one line and not in the other.

All I am saying is that with a fashion doll they are appealing to a mass market not necessarily just the ones who have seen the cartoon. This movie had a very limited release over here - played in 2 cinemas and only out on DVD for a few weeks but the toy were flying off the shelves before Christmas. They are going to have more of an appeal looking as they do now than if they are "cartoon" featured.

See, the Rainbow Rocks basic lines in particular bothers me because of the eyes, but for a different reason--the eyes are waaaaaaaay too low. They're literally halfway down the face! Compare the basic vs. deluxe dolls when you get them in store--the deluxe has a different face mold and imo looks much better.

But... human eyes ARE literally halfway down the face.

I do like the repaint a whole lot better- still wouldn't be enough to make me want to buy them, but they would benefit from more MLP-like eyes.

I think I explained it badly. The tops of their enormous eyes start about halfway down the face--so their foreheads look HUGE and their facial features look squished. They might've been trying to compensate for the cutie mark face tattoos, but the effect is really uncanny.

If they made more EG dolls that where jointed, like the MH girls are. I'd like them better.
The EG characters don't bother me or the fact they are human.

Just not a fan of dolls in general. And I know a few kids in the target range for both MH and EG. They love them but have noticed that EG aren't as moveable. Kids are savvy about what they like, as are adults.

I dunno. I wouldn't call their eyes too small.
(It's not as if actual humans got huge eyes.) In fact, i think the re-paint has a bit of a creepy stare going on but that's just me.

Same boat here. Those new eyes haunt me.

But even if I don't like the dolls that much, I really like the repaint.
Also saw a Flutterhsy repaint on DA - this one was also much cuter than the original imho =)
