Pony Brag Arena / Nirvanas in the wild *-*<3
« on: January 04, 2016, 01:58:51 PM »
I have a few second hand stores and flea markets that I frequent. Mostly because of the combination of a good bargain and items that have a story to tell. The past few years the G1:s have been scarce. There are a lot of G3, 3.5, 4 in the bins because of obvious reasons along with the occassional G2. Since I exclusively collect G1:s I have been a bit worried about the G1:s not existing anymore. That's how seldom I have seen them where I live.

Over the past few weeks I have been finding gold though.

First hunt - Swirly Whirly with a tad bit of scent left, Nurse with a working heart symbol and enviable hair quality to die for and a tattered old FF BlueBelle.

Second hunt - Sundance, Sweet Jam with a tad bit of scent left, Chatterbox (unfortunately silent since the previous owner had left the batteries in and the battery acid had corroded just about everything inside).

And the latest hunt today with Italy's, Macau's and Spain's. <3
I almost fainted. I was shaking as soon as I saw the stamps underneath the hooves and when I got home I just GLARED at them. I can't believe it.
Funny thing about these ponies though: the hair is uncut, there are no pen marks, there are no symbol scuffs and there is only a tiny speck of chafing on the eye of one of them. Someone must have truly loved them. A bit sad and a bit heart warming at the same time.

Introductions / Hi, I'm Maria from Sweden :)
« on: November 22, 2015, 09:33:38 AM »
Hello and thank you for letting me in.  :)

Personal

My name is Maria, I'm 33 years old and I live in Sweden. I was a huge MLP fan when I was a kid. I also loved He-Man, She-Ra and Thundercats but my family thought that little girls should rather play with horses than armored angry looking dolls. In hindsight it was just the way it was and despite that I highly appreciate that I still have all my ponies from then.

In the daytime I'm a front end developer in a small scale bureau. That means I make sites look good and I code HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP.

The most important people in my life are my family, my friends and my girlfriend. I live with my girlfriend and we have two dogs, a whippet and an italian greyhound. I am lucky to have my family and friends nearby too and we talk every day.

Ponies

I guess that the ponies I was gifted when I was a kid was the start of my collector frenzy even though I didn't think of it that way. I have been on and off the active collecting in adult years, mostly because collecting for me has a lot to do with finding a community and really geek out together with other fans. I just felt very lonely earlier in collecting MLP. It's easier today and I feel less lonely. :)

In my collection I focus on completing the series that I have from my childhood, G1 exclusively. I have one or two ponies from 15 different series. I use a spreadsheet to keep track of which ponies I have and which ponies I'm in need of. When I last checked I had 95 ponies on the ISO part of the list. And I haven't even written up all the various editions of each pony or series.
I have my whole collection on display in a shaded part of the living room, up high almost by the ceiling so that they are more of an interior decorating feature than just a dust accumulator.

I think that's all for now. So once again thank you for letting me in. I look forward to spending time with you. :)
