Benzyl Peroxide is the active ingredient in many acne creams.  It fades ponies so is generally only something to use as a last resort if at all.  It also fades fabrics.

Hydrogen Peroxide is what people often use for cleaning out small wounds and it's the active ingredient in OxiClean.  So far in my years of using it I haven't had any bad side effects other than reds and pinks fading which is actually due to sun exposure.  Chartreuse hair bleeds when exposed to it.  I've heard reports that it can harden a pony's body, but I think that's just it cleaning out any leaching plasticizer.  It is safe for vinyl (the pony's body), but destroys nylon after prolonged exposure.

You can remove the visible tail rust by scrubbing it with a toothbrush and whitening toothpaste.  I do this fairly often when I have reasons that I can't or don't want to remove a head.  If you keep her dry it may not come back, and if it does it'll take quite awhile.

In your link it says hydrogen peroxide soaks can possibly remove them, would that be safe on a so soft pony? I suppose if it does get damaged I could deflock her but it feels like a shame...

Thank you both for the info!

I wouldn't bother if it's just one spot and where you can't see it.  The peroxides soaks work, but would probably ruin her flocking and are really hard on things like their hair.  Read the materials section of the site too, it goes into more detail about the side effects.  I do hydrogen peroxide/sun soaks all the time, but it's for ponies who the spots are really ruining them, not ponies who just have a minor issue with it.

Usually, the spots won't spread if you keep the pony stored in a place with low humidity.

Nice! Is it's plastic still ugly yellow at parts?

It's a full body repaint.  That's the only way I could hide both the sharpie and the yellowing and have him come out an even color.  It was also really hard for me to tell what his original color was he was so blotchy.

It looks like the sun to me, but you may never know for sure.  This is a Mexican pony someone sent me to fix after he had faded when she tried to sunfade away the sharpie marks.  Definitely no creams used:

Pony Corral / Re: "Natural" Colours on a Pony

I like the ponies BECAUSE their colors are un-natural.  I also like Fashion Star Fillies and Fantasy Fillies.  Basically, the gaudier the better.  I have had a few people ask me to do customs of their own horses using MLP for the base.  In that case, I understand why someone would be into the real colors.

This pony just comes to me.  I've found 4 of them now at flea markets/thrift stores.  The most I've ever paid for her was $2.

I think that maybe she really just does want to be a gingerbread pony. And I guess we all have our dreams...

Pony Corral / Twinkle Eye Iridescent Paint
« on: November 20, 2017, 05:01:46 AM »
Does anyone have a photo of both a twinkle eye pony with the eye paint intact, and one that's missing it.  For comparison.

I don't think I've ever gotten a TE pony that still had the eye paint.  I'm not even sure I know exactly what they're supposed to look like.

iirc peroxide and/or oxiclean will remove the iridescence on TE Ponies eye gems! hopefully somebody else can confirm or debunk this conclusively

It's true, but none of my TE's ever had the paint left on them, so using the peroxide didn't matter.

Oxi Clean and hydrogen peroxide are the same thing, it's just that for a peroxide soak to work you have to leave the pony out in the sun, and that's what can cause fading.  Both are hard on their hair.  Gingerbread doesn't have the hair colors that bleed.  She's notorious for being difficult to fix her discoloration though.  I've been experimenting with applying a thin layer of paint over ponies like this and then rubbing it off the symbols.  So far so good.  All my ponies are in the attic in the moment so no photos.
