Title: Is there a lighter blue nylon than Arctic Frost?
Post by: Skeen on April 06, 2018, 02:44:49 PM
Dollyhair's pictures are always paler than the actual product but even taking that into account when I bought some it's darker than I'd like.  I can make do, but just in case there is a lighter color I thought I'd ask.  I'm not opposed to using polypropylene but I don't want saran.

I tried to check out Retrodolls but my DINOSAUR or a computer didn't want to cooperate, so basically I want you guys to shop for me.   :P

Wow Retro Doll is kinduva pain to navigate. They should fix that.

Not that I can see Skeen. They're all very vibrant blues and blue-greens. Maybe if you mix a pale blue with a bit of white it'd give the illusion of it being lighter?

Maybe it wasn't my poor computer then!  Thanks for checking, that's pretty much what I was thinking.  :)

The doll planet has some light blue hair colors that might work but I'm not sure on how they compare to Arctic Frost color wise
They have one called Aquarius (described to be a Pastel Aqua Mint color) and one called Deja Blue (described to be a Baby Blue color but it is darker in shade than Aquarius and darker than Arctic Frost). You might be able to ask them if they can compare those colors to Arctic Frost, I've done so a few times with some of the colors I needed from DH (but still refusing to buy from DH lol)

retrodolls has mostly moved to etsy here in the US, run by a fellow collector...but the international sites are separately run

are you looking for a more blue base tone or green? Does it specifically have to be nylon or would you be willing to try other types of hair? I do have some very light colors, it all depends on what you're looking for. If you have a chance, message me via my etsy shop and I'll be happy to search for all the colors you need ;) If I remember correctly, you're in the US, but our UK shop is available too- www.retrodolls.uk

I'm working on an actual website but it's a massive beast to do as I have over 1000 products LOL. It should be up and running and more organized later in the year ;) For now it's www.etsy.com/shop/retrodollsus

Sorry, just seeing this!  I definitely want a blue tone, no green whatsoever.  Almost white, actually!  Arctic Frost is ALMOST there but could be lighter.  I'm not opposed to any type of hair except saran for this project because it just wouldn't lay right after I style it.

I have Spirited Away monofiber- https://www.etsy.com/listing/510012460/spirited-away-monofiber-doll-hair-for?ref=shop_home_active_92

(I'll have to get better pics)

Ice Princess- https://www.etsy.com/listing/509876478/preorder-large-ice-princess-monofiber?ref=shop_home_active_17
(but in my opinion, it's more green toned than blue)

Dew Drop Nylon but Arctic Frost is still lighter

My suggestion would be to take some white and blend it in with arctic frost- get a fine tooth come and brush it several times to get it fully blended and it will give the illusion of being lighter.  Are you going to be at the fair this year?? I've got a booth :)
