I’m not a fan of this at all and don’t think curse words should be repeated  over and over in a MLP video that’s being marketed to kids. What is Hasbro thinking?

You know, it's not even the designs that annoy me, it's knowing exactly what this new cartoon is going to be like, that's what really grinds my gears.

It's not going to be 'slice of life' at all. They're using that as a buzzword because the MLP fan community is known to use that phrase.

No, it's just going to be stupid.

This is exactly what happened with Teen Titans and the new TMNT series. They took a serious show with an overreaching storyarc and long-developed characters and setting, and instead turned the new show into a string of 30 min jokes.

I'm a big TMNT fan. The old TMNT cartoons weren't always the best written, I'll admit that, but they always had stakes going on in the show's plot. It felt like things that happened mattered because the characters took the situations seriously even when we found them laughable as the audience. And each of the four turtles had distinct personalities. Now, in the new cartoon, they are all the same character. They all make jokes and treat every situation like a laugh. There's no stakes, because nothing serious ever happens.

So please be ready for six versions of Pinkie Pie, because that's exactly what we're going to get. Oh sure Rainbow will get a few 'cool' lines with her jokes, and Pinkie will be the one throwing pies and doing the physical humor, and Fluttershy's jokes will be about being anxious, but every single character will be "the funny one." That's what happened with TTG and TMNT.

Part of me is intrigued, but I know this is going to be obnoxious as all heck. I'm not a fan of the art style. Some of it is kinda cute, I like the pic with the night/purple background, but I know that the actual animation will be just... not my thing. I think regular FiM is very hyper and annoying with too exaggerated facial expressions etc, so I can't see myself enjoying this show. I can hear that last picture, and I... no.

Buuuut I stand by that I like the toys. x) And I think it's pretty clear it's the true g4.5 x)

Ngl they don't look so bad in those images and I like the backrounds... I hope we get to see Potion Nova soon.

But as for tone, I agree that this is probably gonna be obnoxious as these types of things tend to be...

I wonder how this fits into FiM, if at all? Twilight is obviously a princess here. Does she still have that title? Are the characters still the elements of harmony? Not saying that this is a continuation or anything, but a separate canon, like the comics or whatever.

Is it just me, or does spike look like a girl in the title card? Also, are ponies mouths made of super stretchy rubber? And big teeth? Because those are some pretty big mouths. I guess it works, but this does look like it’s going to be obnoxious. Aka, the opposite of the widely successful and popular friendship is magic. You’d think hasbro would learn what works, and do that. Make quality cartoons over obnoxious toy advertisements?

Right now they just seem to be doing whatever's popular, unfortunately. Starting with last year's "surprise" gimmick with the Best Gift Ever line...

I’m thrilled they dropped the “Friendship is Magic” title, so maybe we can just have the ponies be ponies and sell toys like MLP is meant to, rather than force-feed love and friendship messages.  I’m all for this!
