When I first saw that photo, I thought the dog was a toy.

Oh man... this is just stupid. Really stupid. Not only that - it's also really cruel. I mean, dying your dog's fur, then attaching some fake hair and eye-lashes for the sake of satisfying your love for a show, that is really sick. Poor dog, who has to endure all this madness his owner is putting him through...

Couldn't that person just settle down for giving his/her dog a FiM-inspired collar or maybe even a shirt?

Well, it doesn't seem as if the dog is in any discomfort.  It does look pretty...silly, but it doeson't seem as if it's TOO different than normal grooming.

This isn't a result of FiM - the photo is older than that...I think it's a result of a craze in Asia (Japan?) of dying dogs and then having creative contests.

Imho, the dog doesn't look like he's in pain - his mouth is open, ears are forward, etc. I know that one of my dogs would absolutely love the attention she would get from getting dyed and painted

I'm not a fan of dying dogs, painting their nails or dressing them up in outfits. However, that's me personally and it doesn't pertain to anyone else really. I have done research on the dying of dog fur and the dyes are safe and the dogs don't care anymore than they do when they get a regular bath and haircut, so this is not animal cruelty as no animals are harmed - only their pride and dignity are affected. LOL. And even that is debatable.

It also says that this was only for a day. At the end of the show, all of the dogs were given normal haircuts and washed of their dye, so I don't see the problem. Does it look stupid? Yes. Did your parents ever dress you up in something stupid when you were a child? Probably. It's the same idea.

I didn't think that was a real dog untill I read the replys I'm not big on dressing live animals up since they're not ment to wear clothes (hence the fur), however it's fine for a bit if they don't suffer from it. But that is just... too much.
